The effect work in this game is hilarious. Loved the audiotapes! -
This would totally work as a full release. The art is beautiful and the gameplay mechanics are interesting.

I would totally buy a finished version of this game. -
Excellent writing! I was really surprised by the direction this one took.

Excellent work with the atmosphere in this one! Hilarious and unsettling at the same time.

This game looks so chill! Got to play it some day. Also, holy shit, congrats on the RPS mention!
-
Excellent work as usual, atte! Beautiful art and hilarious Nick-cam implementation.

Agreed! I stayed awake way too long, because I couldn't wait to see what the next insane game is going to be like. I had to give up after 3 hours or so, but I'm watching the rest of the stream now.

Yeah, the FMV intro and the timing of the title card were so good. Also, good work Chris, Jake and Nick with the stream overlays and the setup in general! I'm so happy that you are so committed to Stream content after the long hiatus. Subscribed!

I haven't played this yet myself, but the technical execution is out of control. This game looks stunning!

Hahaha.. while writing the previous posts, I tried to check something on Wikipedia and came across this sentence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HHhH So, it could have been much worse (or perhaps better, but even more out of place).

I played a bunch of Medieval and Rome (loved them), played very little of Empire (did not like it), and a bit more of Shogun 2 (liked it, I think, but for some reason felt like I was done after one campaign). I get bored with the real time combat after a few battles, and only play the strategic layer of the campaign after that. The problem is, the autoresolve was pretty brutal at least in some of the previous iterations. How is the autoresolve in this one? Is the turn-based strategy part enjoyable in itself or has it been streamlined too much? Is the combat more exciting now?

Haha, yeah, maybe in another context or a different state of mind I would have actually enjoyed it. It is very hard for me to arbitrate what makes some things feel annoying/pretentious and others thought-provoking/fascinating. Probably a bunch of little things. This is why I find the idea of me writing something so terrifying.

Interesting. Binet's style started to grate on me a lot after a while. I did not find his struggle in reconstructing historical narrative, or the balancing act facts and engaging storytelling particularly interesting (or more precisely, I did not find his vocalization of this struggle particularly interesting), which is why constant "I obviously don't know what they said to each other behind closed doors, but I invented some dialogue for your benefit. Or maybe I shouldn't have?" type of interjections felt so distracting to me. All authors working with historical material have to deal with the same issues as Binet and come up with their own solutions to these problems, and in many cases the reader can see those choices, whether in the text itself or in between the lines, without the author having to take center stage so forcefully every couple of chapters. My annoyance was amplified by the fact that struggles within actual historical subject of the book were so much more interesting for me than the authors own strife. Maybe in the context of another historical event, I would have appreciated the meta elements more. I'd recommend Stanisław Lem's Solaris. It is one of my all time favorite sci-fi novels. New, supposedly much improved English translation was released recently in different formats.

Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.

Yeah, that has happened maybe only once or twice for me as Lucio, so it was not the best example. Needless to say, we lost those matches. -

Tycho: The game at least tries to encourage sensible team composition by displaying messages like "No offence heroes" and "Too many snipers". And in my experience, once you have played for a bit and get matched with more seasoned folk, the players are quite good at following those guidelines, though, not always of course. You'll still encounter scenarios where your character selection is not effective or fun due to the way other people play (e.g. when you have an area of effect healer and everyone is spread out) but you can always switch characters mid-game. It is definitely more fun to play with friends, but I also don't mind playing with random people, which is good because I play very irregularly and therefore it is hard for me to arrange team time. -
Ever since rumors started circulating about the second album several years ago, I have been checking the Avalanches Wikipedia page and Twitter every few months. Apparently they started working on that single quite a long time ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avalanches#Second_album http://pitchfork.com/news/45833-danny-brown-collaborates-with-the-avalanches/

Congrats! -
Has it replaced the twin stick controller completely for you, or do you only use it for certain types of games?
-
Are you guys still using your Steam controllers? Which games? How is it? It's on -30% sale right now. I don't really need it, though. Maybe I shouldn't buy it.
-
Yeeees! (Not my favorite The Avalanches song but pre-perch'd Wildflower nevertheless.)

I haven't checked any comparisons, but I assume you might get slightly better graphics, shorter loading times and cheaper price on PC. The performance has been fine on my PC at least. I was impressed by the Sapienza videos and bought the Full Experience edition on Steam. If you are unsure whether the game is for you, you can also buy the first episode separately and then buy the upgrade pack (you will lose a few euros though). Or buy the full experience, and ask for a Steam refund if don't want to keep playing, I guess.

I see people switching characters much less often than I did early on (which was probably caused by new players testing out different characters mid-game), and most of the time the switch has been for the better, e.g. addressing questions like "Why don't we have a medic?" and "Why is there no turrets to defend the point?" I rarely switch characters, but when I do it is because I feel that I'm getting nothing done with the character I have chosen against the current group of enemies. I am not ranked/matched high enough to see more sophisticated character switching strategies ("Ok, for the next checkpoint we need two snipers, and..."). Or maybe I have, but didn't realize it because I didn't understand what was going on. So, I prefer mid-game switching to being locked into using a character that is useless for the duration of the match. However, I can see that it can get tough at higher levels. This game is really cool. Recently, I have been playing as Lucio, because with him I can help the team even if I suck (due to passive healing ability), but he can still be pretty deadly when used correctly. I can't stress enough how important it is for my enjoyment that the game focuses on congratulating me on good plays, instead of showing me how bad I am doing compared to others. I might also have just been lucky (or ranked sufficiently low), but I have rarely seen any serious assholery in the chat.
