  1. Nope. I wasn't implying anything about this person Jim.
  2. Maybe his other quote will clarify this view a bit more: "Pretend to be good always, and even God will be fooled." -Kurt Vonnegut, God Bless you, Mr. Rosewater If you act like a piece of shit all the time and make other people feel crap, then, for all intents and purposes, you are a piece of shit, no matter how nice or tolerant you consider yourself to be on the inside.

  5. Sony NGP (PSP 2)

Again, the games will be distributed on physical media as well. http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/01/27/introducing-ngp/
  6. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That's it. Time to start hoarding dry food and iodine tablets.
  7. Wizaaaaaards!!

Yeah. I once let the shitty wizard configure my router and the results were horrible.
  8. Holy shit.. After you beat the game and collect all the KONGs, you apparently have a chance to . Now that is brutal. Miffy, if one player moves out of the screen area, he/she will be reunited with the other after 5 seconds or so. However, it is not always safe to stay put for that long because of the enemies or because you are already standing on a collapsing structure. Furthermore, with some luck, you will be teleported to your partner's location just when he/she is in the middle of a jump across a chasm.
  9. Nevermind. I just realized I don't have $1000 to spare.
  10. So far, my sister and I have reached the volcano levels on co-op. We obviously had to play the mine cart and barrel rocket levels on single player mode, though, because otherwise you would just lose two lives over a single mistake. Some of the other levels are not ideal for co-op play either because of the collapsing platforms and whatnots. The levels are hard but usually fair, except for the times the difficulty results from poor controls. Mapping roll, ground pound and blowing to waggle is indeed completely mad, and for quite some time I exclusively used rolling for throwing myself over the ledges as I was trying to blow a dandelion or something. For added frustration, the hit detection isn't always spot on either. Nevertheless, Donkey Kong Country Returns is still an excellent piece of platforming.
  11. The Last Express

Sounds good. As long as I won't die of protein loss because I forgot to munch on some nuts way back in the beginning.
  12. The Last Express

Apart from the animation, the other thing that is currently holding me back from buying The Last Express is the thing that I also find most intriguing about the game – the real time aspect. How brutal is it? Will there be a lot of cheap good old video game death traps you basically can't avoid on your first playthrough? Can you rewind time or are you forced start a new game or load a save if you find yourself staring at the game over screen.
  13. Sony NGP (PSP 2)

According to Sony they will used a small flash memory based card that sounds a lot like flash memory card.
  14. Sony NGP (PSP 2)

The specs are certainly impressive and the amount of control options in one device will certainly open up new possibilities for game and software developers. However, I have never owned a portable gaming device, and now it's even more difficult than before to see how it could fit into my life: I guess I could play for a while in bed before I fall asleep or something but I already have a phone for that purpose. Also, to me the major attraction of games like Call of Duty, Uncharted and ehh.. Killzone is the pretty graphics and epic soundscapes, something which I'd rather experience in front of a huge LCD screen and in mids of speakers than in a crowded bus with someones elbow in my kidney. Have the launch titles been specified yet? Also, with such hardware, I would be quite surprised if PSP2 wasn't more expensive than 3DS.
  15. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

For some reason I haven't paid much attention to Dirty Three before, even though I love the things Warren Ellis has done with Nick Cave. This stuff is amazing. EHEkzLQyG48

I loved Company of Heroes and kind of liked Dawn of War II as well when I tried it on my friends computer, but those dumb boss battles completely ruined the game for me. I never bought the game because of them. I assume the sequels or standalone expansions or whatever haven't changed this aspect of the game?

Just completed Shank. Jesus, what a disappointment. The game looks beautiful and sounds great (as an idea; the voice acting is atrocious) but I found it above all dull and frustrating. Play the demo and you have seen everything the game has to offer. The designers actually thought the wrestler battle from the demo was so good that they made it appear at least three times throughout the game with little or no variation. Regular combat might look nice but is about as basic as it gets. Very poor hit detection (especially when the enemy is wielding a minigun) and unresponsive and stupid controls spice things up a bit, though. For instance, the absolute hardest part of the game was one where a couple of gunmen had taken the higher ground and were shooting down at you while you were slicing their pals. The catch was that you could only shoot 45 degrees up and if you tried to jump and shoot, our hero would actually shoot downwards. The bad guys didn't have any problems shooting at different angles, though. The game was pretty short but still not short enough for me, as I got bored about halfway through the game. The story is so bad that one has to wonder why they even bothered with it. After the first cutscene, you should have a pretty good idea how the entire story might play out and it will play out just like that. I can't really recommend this game to anyone unless you can get it very cheap. Some people may still enjoy it, I just don't know who or why.
  18. Portal 2

I can't see why not. I don't know if they will make it happen but at least it should be possible.

Flogged my way through DeathSpank. The dialog was pretty well written and actually made me laugh out loud once or twice. The gameplay was decent but certainly nothing special. I think I finished all the sidequests as well, although I'm not sure why exactly because most of them weren't very entertaining. Is Thongs of Virtue just more of the same or are there some significant changes or improvements? Although, I enjoyed the game quite a bit, I'm not sure if I'm up for another ten hours of that stuff. Well.. yes. It was just a tired Game of the Year Edition joke.

Amazingly enough, I played through the entirety of Batman: Arkham Asylum - Game of the Year Edition. The game itself was an amazing achievement as well. I have no interest in comics or superheroes in general but the gameplay was so damn good that it kept me playing till the end. Mark Hamill's and Arleen Sorking's performances where excellent and at some point I started liking the setting a bit as well. I can't remember when I have last played an action game that has been anywhere near as well balanced as this. Perfect mixture of combat, stealth and exploration. I really wish that Naughty Dog and likes would take a leaf out of Rocksteady's book, which they obviously won't do because they are driving for "the ultimate cinematic experience". I enjoy being able to explore the area that I have just de-enemified in peace, to go back to an area that was safe minutes ago only to find it safe still, to walk more than 50 meters without an action sequence to drive me forward, and to not worry about constant waves of reinforcements. It seems to me that these kind of joys have become more and more rare of late, which is why I hope the sequel won't differ from its predecessor too much. In short, this was a surprisingly excellent game. I can't believe no-one mentioned in their favorite games of 2010 list. This game has GOTY written all over it. What a terrible post, but I'm tired, so here it goes.
  22. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yey, new Amplifier stuff! Seems like they made the entire album available for preview. It's been a long time since I have last listened to Amplifier (or Riverside). I follow album releases much less than I do upcoming games. I guess the second the Avalanches album might finally be released this year. There is a possibility of new Queens of the Stone Age and/or Them Crooked Vultures releases as well.
  23. Need to buy a laptop. Advice plx! Tnx.

I run Windows XP on my Macbook Pro and haven't really encountered any driver issues, especially now that you can install Nvidia drivers downloaded directly from their webpage without any hassle. I have only run Ubuntu on VirtualBox, though. Are there some specific driver issues related to Macbooks I should know about? Also, I have don't have any complaints about the Apple's service.
  24. Inter-railing and stuff

I haven't been there yet, but I've heard that Tartu is really beautiful as well. And there is some sort of waterfall near Tallinn if you are interested in things like that.
