I have an interview with the Board of Education! Two weeks from yesterday! Yay!

Oh shit. Even though I already own it on Steam, I may have to add this to my Vita library.

I'm still waiting for my chance to get to 6, but with two weeks for 6 and 7, that's no issue for me. I hope, anyway. I thought I'd be doing stuff this past holiday weekend, but instead just wasted my time not even playing a damn game. Felt good to legitimately do NOTHING though.

Ha. Interestingly, reading out loud was how I got through Welsh's Maribou Stork Nightmares. I loved that book, but goddamn if I hadn't been reading aloud I never would have had a clue what anybody was ever saying.

I loved SS, played PiT to completion and enjoyed it well enough, but found it inferior to SS, and then loved BIS again. Honestly, I don't get the hate directed towards PiT. It wasn't as good, sure, but I still enjoyed it a lot while playing it.

I want Chibi Robo 3D! If they can port DKCR (which I will totally be buying. That game is hell of fun, and would be well suited to portable), why not that? Hell, make it a digital only release even and then don't worry about distribution costs. I know it's niche, but dammit I'd love to play that again.

Man, people play Pokemon way differently than I do. I've never looked online for anything. I just wander and enjoy the game, training the ones that I let myself get invested in/attached to. Am I really that weird for still enjoying playing Pokemon the same way I did when I was 10?

It absolutely is. The Vita's d-pad is the best non-Nintendo d-pad I've ever used. Hell, it's better than a couple of Nintendo d-pads, if only because it's a reasonable size. I believe it was the DS Lite that had a d-pad that was awkwardly small for me to use, so the Vita would come out on top of that one.

Sno, you need to play Bowser's Inside Story. That game is fantastic. As for this news, hell to the yes. One of my favourite series gets a #4! After the disappointment that was Paper Mario Sticker Star (it's not bad, it's just gone a totally different direction from what I'd want. I still like it, but thinking about what the series could have become after Thousand Year Door makes me sad), I'm totally on board for some M&L goodness to wash that taste out of my mouth.

Yeah, I still need to do 4 and 5. School kicked in and devastated my playin' time, as predicted. EDIT: An hour later, 4 and 5 are done! Decided to man up, sit on my couch, and kill something majestic. After how frustrated I was with colossus number 3, I'm glad that this thread guilted me back into the game. I probably would have called it at 3 otherwise, saying "wow, that game was once amazing but aged really poorly" and left it at that. After offing colossus 5, I'm now completely back in. I'd forgotten how exhilarating that one was. I'll probably have a chance to kill number 6 on Sunday afternoon, so that's the current plan. Feelin' good.

I went to school when I really should have stayed home sick back in the 12th grade. It was career day. About halfway through some lady telling us about how great her desk job at an oil company was, I started to sweat profusely and fell out of my chair unconscious. I think that was the only reason anyone will ever remember that lady's talk.

Nah. The street is in kind of rough shape, but the yard/house is ok. Lucky in that at least. I've imposed upon my partner to stay at her house for a few nights (hopefully that's all) while the city gets their shit together, because otherwise I'd be filling a bucket from a tank truck up the block when I want to wash my hands. I feel kinda bad about this, because my class schedule means I need to wake up about 4 hours earlier than her, and about 2 hours earlier than a sane person wakes up given the choice, which is why this is imposing and not just some nice time spent together. I've read Handmaid's Tale, which is great, and have been meaning to read Oryx and Crake and Year of the Flood for forever. Actually going to see Atwood give a talk next Thursday, so good timing on this thread!

Mafia and Mafia 2 both had their issues, but I love both to death. Give 'em a shot, John. Though if a certain airfield mission in Mafia 1 gets to you, maybe look for cheats. I didn't use them, but I think that was the closest I've been since the GTA3 days.

Darksiders 2 is good, but I personally liked 1 better. Temper your expectations accordingly. That said, I played the shit out of 2 anyway, and really enjoyed my time with it.

Yeah, I think I decided to just give up on impressing people around age 19, and it's worked well. Of course, six years ago we hadn't yet evolved to the philosophical heights of the #YOLO mindset, so I didn't have a name for it beyond "stopping giving a fuck" (dear internet: this is a sarcastic statement). I like it though. It's made the last 6 years a lot more fun for me than they seem to have been for a lot of my contemporaries, plus I get to wear neon dinosaur hoodies at the university and people just have to accept that. Last week I got stuck halfway through demonstrating a problem on the board in class and just drew a kitty to illustrate that I'd run out of ideas. I probably couldn't get away with that if I weren't a straight A student, but whatever. I have fun. My main resolution this year has been to not give up on the guitar that I started playing for the hell of it last summer. So far I've played for at least an hour a night every night this year, so I'm feeling pretty good. Picking up Rocksmith on PC has helped with this as well, as it gives me a bit of motivation to play around when I don't feel like looking for new tabs online. I haven't used the game for a few nights now, but I've kept playing on my acoustic and I can see the ebb and flow as I get more enthusiastic about strumming or lead stuff in turn. Haven't made so much progress with an instrument since I was a little kid taking formal lessons. Feels good.
