I was shocked, SHOCKED, not to see this in Thyroid's opening post.

Visa are using this song for their latest advert.

Sweet! Well, I managed to get a load of ace games in today. Sadly I missed Toblix. The networking's still a little unstable in places, but this has really been polished and tweaked well, just needs a few more players in even though there's been a steady increase.

Cute girlfriend! Good luck! (In case you're a robot: 0010000 10101000111 1010101100000101010000000000000111110101010101011101001000101010) -
I was tempted to do that, but I decided that as part of the conception behind this was that it would be an inclusive process and something different to normal development, I'd go along with that and not worry as much as usual about location/character etc spoilers. In the latest doc episode there's a line from Tim about how he feels you need a certain size of game to create a puzzle space, and then adds the proviso "at least for me" (I may be paraphrasing there).

Like Anna said, i can't believe I made $1138 a day from home! Gold.

Apparently this game is part of the Half-Lfe 3 ARG.

No worries, dude. That was my suggestion, though (I didn't say we should, I just said it seemed to me with very little thought to be a simplistic solution)! It seems to me that the reason most gay couples want to be able to get married is for legal rights, not to be part of a religious strand that hates them. So giving them the word marriage (which I think is generally now thought of as a religious institution with legal ramifications, not the other way around) would separate out the different issues at play - the government would have one less massive excuse to give equal rights, the discriminating religious strands would be shown to be even further behind the times (and possibly open to prosecution, but whether that would be desirable is a question that others have raised here - with my trademark lack of consideration I'm going to say it would) and it would hopefully encourage some gay couples to move to different churches.

Hooray! Glad you're not going, Thyroid, old chum!

He just linked to it, I think.

Before I respond, let me just reiterate that I haven't thought this through a great deal and that I'm not saying This Is The Truth. I already feel on the defensive because words like "jerk", "waffling" and "irrelevant", and "rub me up the wrong way" are being used. Let's try and keep the QUILTBAG thread friendly, please. I didn't say that gay people wouldn't be able to get married. That would be up to whichever organisation was providing the marriage - I'm sure plenty of Christian churches would provide gay marriages as well as other religions and, as James pointed out while being firmly on the same page as me, "anyone can decide whether or not they're married entirely at will". I wouldn't feel like a jerk for having to tell some people "you now have all the legal rights everyone else has, but certain churches (and also the American Nazi Party etc) don't want you as a member" at all. I wonder whether separating it out like this would leave these organisations/places of worship more open to getting in legal trouble for discrimination, but I guess there are plenty that openly get away with it already, right? I really don't understand what you're saying here. I'm not talking about calling marriage something else or changing how the word is defined, I'm not talking about alternate realities, and I am talking about furthering equality within the actual world as it exists now and as soon as possible. I'm glad you agree that my idea could be great but I don't see how it's irrelevant.

I have now, for all intents and purposes, moved to Cambridge. It's like a much smaller, bit nicer, but just as expensive version of London. I'm moving into a flat with my girlfriend in about a month (until then we're staying with family, ugh) and have got temp work for at least 3 months. So hopefully I'll find a well-paid, interesting permanent job soon and use my spare time making games/films/comics etc. Terry CaVVVVVVanagh and some other devs meet up every week in a cafe about three minutes walk away from my flat, so I went there this afternoon and will be trying to go to that a lot to keep myself motivated...

Interactive Fiction/Text Adventures (and their engines)

By the way, doesn't having this stuff and/or a parser define a game more as a text adventure than IF? I need to get my terminology right before entering this subculture!- 61 replies

Nooo, Episode 3 should be very recognisable, then Half Life 3 should be a match-3.

James, we're on the same page.

REPORTED. The only free pirate game you need is Nelly Cootalot, kids.
