  1. Far Cry 5

This really is one of those open world games you can loose yourself in, been playing it all weekend. I'm usually more fond of western settings in the AC games (AC3's America, Syndicate's London), so no surprise I'm liking Montana better than the more exotic locales of previous FC titles. The buddy system is great and reminds me more of MGS V than FC2, tho that's perhaps because my main buddies are a dog and a sniper lady. The cars are more dynamic and fun than in earlier iterations, and the ones with machineguns strapped to the roof kinda make me feel like I'm playing an Interstate 76 sequel at certain points. The planes are pretty good, but the helicopters handle in such a dumb arcadey way that I get no joy from flying them. Only thing that outright pisses me off in this game are the tight parameters of many of the story missions, regarding mission areas and whatnot. In one particularly egregious moment I had set up bombs with timers all over a camp, and as the voice on the radio told me to haul ass I did just that, with bullets flying past my head I ran into the forrest, only to be greeted with a "You are leaving the mission area!" warning. NO SHIT I'm leaving the mission area, there's a huge explosion about to go off! I turned around and saw a mission marker near the entrance of the camp. Apparently "haul ass" hadn't meant "haul ass", so much as "go to this one specific spot and watch the explosion", so I had to (idiotically) run back into the gunfire as the timer on the bomb kept ticking closer to zero.

Yeah TW3 took me like 3 or 4 months worth of weekends to beat. Currently playing through the Blood & Wine expansion. It's a good weekend game. It's too complicated to get into on a weekday evening, but spending a lazy Saturday riding through Toussaint, getting pulled into crazy sidequests and looking for paintings to hang in my new house, is a good time. Anyway, 25 hours in I've beaten Spintires: Mudrunner. I've done all the singleplayer maps and challenges, that is. Sorry about the pile of screenshots, but I just can't help myself. This game is so god damn beautiful. And with suspensions creaking, mud deforming, plumes of exhaust smoke billowing, it looks even more beautiful in motion. I'm a huge Spintires fan. Played the original demo in 2012 and instantly backed the Kickstarter when it came up a year later. I was dismayed by all the troubles the development went through under the original publisher, Oovee, but with the development now under a new publisher, Focus, and with original developer Pavel still in control, development has been flourishing. It now has the long-awaited cockpit-view, the wonky camera controls have been remade, AND Steam Workshop Map support just entered public beta. The game is more perfect than ever. If for some reason you've been holding off on getting this Russian lumber-hauling sim, the finest off-roading game since Screamer 4x4 came out 18 years ago, then now is the time to get onboard. COME ON IN, PEOPLE, THE WATER IS FINE! Or should I say, the MUD is fine!?
  3. What's the Name of the Game!?

Ah yes, that's what 67 is, that's the title I was thinking off! And Laco, Merus and Korax are all correct.
  4. What's the Name of the Game!?

Correct on the first 2, but did you mean to say 76? It's the right answer, but wrong screenshot!
  5. What's the Name of the Game!?

Running low on Steam screenies, so here's a bunch of PS4 ones. (probably more mainstream and easy than my previous shots) 71. 72. 73. 74. 75. 76. 77. 78. Ah yes, I do remember playing that back then, and I remember it was an update of the old 80's game, but I wasn't sure if they treated it as a sequel or reboot. Anyway, good game!
  6. Far Cry 5

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so much, clyde. I'll have to finish it before I figure out where I'd rank it in the series, but I am enjoying it very much. I've found they also wrote some great music for this but it seems none of it is in the game! Or rather, alternative "choir versions" of these songs are in the game, but I much prefer the more minimalist renditions of these tunes that are available on Spotify/Youtube. These Ubigames often have great music. The sea shantys of Black Flag and Hudson Mohawke's Watch Dogs 2 tunes being highlights, but I think this collection of sinister Americana is my favourite so far.
  7. What's the Name of the Game!?

    65. 66. 67. Oooooh I've seen videos of this one, but the name is eluding me. I wanna say it starts with an "E" and is about 5 or 6 letters long. 68. Yes and yes.
  8. Far Cry 5

    Oooooh, I totally missed that!
  9. Your 2018 Gaming Purchases!

Don't have exact dates and prices but it goes a little something like this: Heat Signature - played a few hours before getting bored and wandering off. Golf Story - getting close to the end. Wonderful game! Sprint Vector - VR running/racing game and possibly my 2018 GOTY so far. Into the Breach - it's good, but not FTL-good. Superflight - it's nice. Styx 2 - great level design, terrible jokes. I'm like 3 missions in. Assassin's Creed: Origins - why did I even buy this when I knew I was also about to buy... Far Cry 5 - started playing it last night, it's great!
  10. Far Cry 5

Played the first 3 hours last night. I've liberated the town to the south and gotten Nick his plane back. So far, so good! Spotted a few minor bugs, mainly just AI behaving in silly ways(like driving a car into a lake), but nothing game-breaking. What's the reference? I searched through the bunker and the watchtower but didn't spot anything obvious.

I just picked up AC Origins as well coz I found it for 23€ and I can't resist a great deal. However I'm also about to buy FC5 and I'm not about to subject myself to 2 Ubigames at once so Origins will have to wait a little while. Aaaaaaand it's also in the latest Humble Indie Bundle: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/humble-indie-bundle-19?hmb_source=navbar&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=tile_index_1 along with SOMA, Mini Metro and Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes. All great.
  12. Far Cry 5

I've stopped expecting enough from the writing in Ubigames to even be disappointed. At best they manage to create a great atmosphere (Far Cry 2) or have some likeable characters (Watch Dogs 2), but I think the last Ubisoft title where the storytelling actually was the main strength of the game was 15 years ago with Beyond Good & Evil. Sure! I'm planning on picking it up towards the weekend so I can really deep dive into it, but we could do some co-op next week. This is me on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998066822
  13. Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 is OUT! Metacritic averages are in the 80%'s, with XBone version coming in a little higher than PC and PS4, for some reason. I'll probably pick it up later today, tho I haven't decided whether to go with PC or PS4 version yet. Polygon gave it a 6.5, saying it's a very enjoyable game with by a terrible story. So... it's an open-world Ubigame, in other words.
  14. What's the Name of the Game!?

    The Creepy Corridors edition! 59. 60. 61. 62. 63. 64.
  15. What's the Name of the Game!?

Only one I'm 100% certain about is 49, Almost posted a screenie from it myself earlier but it's artstyle is so distinct I felt it's too easy to guess. Anyway, I liked that game. Guesswork: 45. 47.
  16. What's the Name of the Game!?

Yes, miffy and Beasteh had the right answer. It's a very ugly game, in more ways than one, but also one that captures the atmosphere of a small Finnish town more realistically than anything else I've played. All the other answers are also right.
  17. Telltale Troubles

    That's aN ICE picture!
  18. What's the Name of the Game!?

    Also, remember when I said I was running out of somewhat obscure screenshots? I LIED. 37. 38. 39. 40. 41. 42. 43. 44.
  19. What's the Name of the Game!?

Man that looks kinda familiar. Is it the Right on! Still unguessed: 5, 19, 20, 32, 35 32 you really should get, it's right up ya'll's wheelhouse. In fact we had a thread about it not too long ago.
  20. Telltale Troubles

Yeah, tho I think initially it worked well. I did like Wolf Among Us and TWD S2, but GoT and Batman left me cold. I'm glad to see that they might finally be able to break out of the mold and innovate a bit.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

Whaaaaat no come oooooon. I mean I liked the Orc guy but besides him I don't actually remember anything about it. My picks for Top 5 Video Game Movies: 1. Mortal Kombat - I mean come on. Lambert's crazy, chuckling portrayal of Raiden? That scene where SubZero freezes that guy? "Hey asshole, those were 500 dollar sunglasses!"? Come on! 2. D.O.A. - I don't think a lot of people have seen this one, but it's an over the top bonkers goodbad movie. 3. Resident Evil - Sure it's a bit dull, but that laser corridor scene is, like, iconic. And the ending is cool. 4. Need For Speed - It's like an only-slightly-worse version of the latest Fast & Furious movies. It's not that bad, seriously. 5. uhhhhh... Resident Evil 2 I guess.
  22. What's the Name of the Game!?

Yes, that's right Korax. I can't actually remember if I finished or even enjoyed that thing. And atte is right too. Glad someone got 33 so Spenny doesn't get upset with us! :|
  23. What's the Name of the Game!?

sucks2Bme is correct, Gwardinen is close. So close I almost wanna say it's correct but I'm gonna go ahead and be a hard ass and demand the super-specific correct answer.
  24. Just beat the game on Normal! Was down to 1 Grid Power and 2 mechs by the end, it was quite tense. I hadn't really thought about how it stacks up to FTL, but I think you're right. I really don't find myself caring about my mechs or this story as much as I cared about my spaceship crew in FTL.
  25. What's the Name of the Game!?

Yup! And that's indeed what I was referencing with the thread title.
