  1. [DevLog] Monumental Failure

Well this is good news. I only discovered Shtone Hemge recently when I checked out last Wizard Jam's entries, and enjoyed it enough to play through twice. Looking forward to the new version, and yeah Monumental Failure is a great title.
  2. [Release] In Search Of Paradise

Interesting. Not sure I have time to get into Fmod on this project, but I might try it out in the future. Latest additions: Fuel system and a rudimentary dialogue system implemented. Still need to add gamepad controls, savepoints system, and menu, then the core gameplay components should be in place. After that is creation of the gameworld and tuning of vehicle handling/gameplay systems.
  3. [Release] In Search Of Paradise

I'm not sure. Nothing too complicated tho. If you can get me a steady idle sound and a steady higher-RPM sound(preferably sounds that loop nicely) I'll fade between them with code depending on speed. I'm gonna have to take a long hard think about how to do gear shifts. @root, yup.
  4. [Release] In Search Of Paradise

That "shader" is just in the GIF, to keep it down to 1MB. And yeah I specifically asked root to make me a car that kinda looks like the one in Interstate 76. It is most definitely a strong influence on this game.
  5. [Release] In Search Of Paradise

Latest additions: -Destructible cacti -car physics -skidmarks & exhaust particles -special cinematic gas station camera -some environmental models and textures done. [HELP REQUEST] Anyone know where I can get some car sounds? Having a hard time finding anything.
  6. Oh man that looks good. :U
  7. Sorry I hadn't checked the thread in a while so I missed this, but yes that's nice! I'd like it to start quitely tho. I want it slowly wafting in on the breeze as you drive through the desert, building up until it has the kinda intensity in that demo. Looking forward to the jam starting in a couple days. I might be busy on Saturday but I'll get cracking on Sunday.
  8. No Man's Sky

Yeah first person on-foot games do not work great with VR. Games where you're sitting in a cockpit or just walking around a small area(using the Vive's room-scale tracking) are fine, but the moment you need to push a button or thumbstick to walk, or worse: rotate, you're likely to have a bad time. Tho I did manage to play HL2 for close to an hour once before I got too nauseous to go on.
  9. Playscape: Los Angeles - Zoë Quinn

Oh good, an opportunity to do my Depression Quest joke! -Why didn't Depression Quest get ported to PS4?
  10. Project: In Search Of (Burnout) Paradise (based on this Idle Weekend episode) It will be a Burnout Paradise prequel, set in a desert. What I bring: I will do the programming and gamedesign. Here are my credentials: https://henke.itch.io/ What I need: -3D artist who can whip up a nice car model, maybe a cactus or two, and maybe some sorta shack/gas station? -Musician who can compose something that sorta sounds like "Paradise City", but not enough like it to land us in copyright jail. Contact me via PM, or @Henrik_Hermans. Timezone: Finland, GMT +3 Engine: Unity 5
  11. Fresh Indie Game Compendium Extraordinaire

  12. The Big VR Thread

I borrowed the office DK2 last weekend and checked out the stuff in Oculus Home, including the Foo Show. It was pretty damn cool. Standing next to Sean Vanaman as he reads the blurb on the back of an in-game book and talks about the writing of said blurb was pretty out there. It feels like being there in the room with the guys, but then you realize that the room doesn't actually exist outside of the simulation. The mix of reality, Video game and podcast is unlike anything I've experienced before. A new medium. I look forward to future episodes. Also played a whole bunch of Lucky's Tale. Very solid, fun platformer, tho for some reason the performance goes to hell on the first level of Chapter 4(Magma Mambo, I think it's called). The game was buttery smooth up till that point but then it immediately became unplayably laggy. :/
  13. Other podcasts

Yeah, listened to the final ep of Serial S2 the other day, and while it overall wasn't as gripping as S1, it's still good! It just didn't feel like the mystery was as great as in S1, nor did it have as much a potential of unearthing new evidence/clues.
  14. Hah, that reminds me of the podcast Analyze Phish, which was about one guy (Harris Wittels, RIP) trying to get another guy (Scott Aukerman) to like the band Phish. It was always some jam section 14 minutes into a liveshow bootleg that was finally gonna to make the case for Phish and win Scott over. As a guy with 2 posts, let me just say: NOOOOOB!
  15. Here's the robot video that was discussed:
