  1. [Dev Log] Esophagus Sarcophagus

Sounds great! Like gross Downwell head-to-head or something.
  2. WIZARD JAM 8 // Welcome Thread

Hi! I'm going to try and at least start a cool new thing. I'm also getting lasik on start date so that'll be something too...
  3. [Released] Buried Treasure

Cool. Looking like good progress! I'm not familiar with the Skyrim treasure hunting (sounds sorta similar to Farcry: Primal to me) so looking forward to seeing how the gameplay works!
  4. Really cool. Your art and title though are making me anticipate some proper lovecraftian slow dread though, not an actiony thing. But really curious what this turns into!
  5. Ok, I was terrible at keeping a running devlog here, but NO MATTER because... It's out! Play it here. Here's some screens! ...I'll put some cool gifs up tomorrow! Please play and let me know how you like it! Thank you all wizjammers! Original post: Here we go! I'm making an interactive comic story. I browsed through Important If True episodes adding "Tactics" to each to find the most ridiculous thing I could possibly make a game out of. You know, as a challenge! I burst out laughing with this one and thought, "I'll never be able to make anything cool out of Veggie Panino Tactics!" Fast forward one hour and I had sketched out an entire absurd story. It's, uh, about a vegetable man and his war with monsters made of meat. So, like, my own take on vegetarianism I guess. I'm doing this! Yesterday, I came up this idea and thought it was grand. Today I spent most the day convincing myself it is waaay too stupid. But finally, I said "screw it!" and it's now an official devlog any everything so I can't possibly go back on it... Long live wizjam!
  6. Veggie Panino Tactics [Release]

Your comment really kept me going through to the end! Thanks a lot! Let me know what you think of the finished. Man, you are always the first to play my games! I'm very thankful for all your support! I'm super glad the game didn't fully break this time with all your backtracking! I'm definitely going to hire you once I have any budget for playtesting! Thanks, atte! I really wanted to push the pixel vs. high-res art idea in this one. I'm happy with the results!
  7. Veggie Panino Tactics [Release]

Ok, I was terrible at keeping a running devlog here, but NO MATTER because... It's out! Play it here. Here's some screens! ...I'll put some cool gifs up tomorrow! Please play and let me know how you like it! Thank you all wizjammers!
  8. Looking forward to this! The orange actually put me in mind of Campo Santo's games. Maybe orange has infected Jake thru Orange Box, then Campo's games, and now on to us!
  9. [Dev Log] SHADOW of SOMETHING

This is so good. I've actually never played a Stalker so this'll be my official intro to the series! Weren't The Vultures a gang in Full Throttle? If yes, I like it as a name.
  10. Veggie Panino Tactics [Release]

Ok...Day 1 progress. It may not look like I'm making a comic here. But stay with me! I'm doing quasi gameboy art but red. I've been inspired by low-rez jam games lately and kinda wanted to make one, so I thought I'd get a head start. This is 128 x 128 though, and high detail comics panels will fly in there as you walk!
  11. Veggie Panino Tactics [Release]

Well reading the comments make me realize you guys are thinking this is gonna be way smarter than what I've actually got planned! Really it's just about veggie people fighting monsters, haha. I'm giving myself a head start on the art. They are turning out okay. There's 11 panels/pages and it'll all play out in one big room. 3 endings!
  12. Veggie Panino Tactics [Release]

Um...yes! It might very well end up as that! Though I'm thinking that's the first time I've heard that word... I'll do my best! It would be quite the relevant epitaph. Thanks! Disclaimer: I'm not a vegetarian! Haha. It'll probably be an inaccurate take. He's a good egg(plant). I'll make sure your faith isn't mis-rooted. I'm making a simple thing in gamemaker 2. The idea called for some tilesets and character movement. Cwine is cool though and you guys making those is what gave me the idea to do a more comicky project!
  13. WIZARD JAM 6 // Welcome Thread

Ah, ok! Well I really liked the stuff made with it. I'll whip up something simple in gamemaker then. Good luck everyone! Remember to #wizardjam on twitter!
  14. WIZARD JAM 6 // Welcome Thread

Wizard Jam already back! I was wondering if I was going to have time, but remembered that a few people last time did interactive stories/comics. So I think I'm going to do something more along those lines What was that tool that someone made for interactive comics? (Sorry my memory is crap)
  15. Whatever z_bill's working on [Devlog]

Awesome, thanks! There is a violent ending & a depressing ending, haha.
  16. New post: I have a game out called THE RED MUMMY (more info down further in thread) Here's the link to itch.io to download! Original post: Hi everyone, I'm the guy who made the weirdo Pause Screen From BattleToads for #wizardjam, and I thought I'd drop by and show you what I'm working on! You guys ignited a desire to game makes in me, so now you will be cursed to watch me flail about trying to make a new thing! Anyway here's what I'm attempting: a few experimental mini-games ruminating on tropes from 16 bit JRPGs and Action Adventure games. I'm just starting this and put up a Any feedback would be very appreciated/helpful. I didn't say in the video but I'm putting this together with GameMaker Studio. Thanks, dudes. You are all awesome.
  17. Whatever z_bill's working on [Devlog]

Whooooa! Hey, what's up? Me, who only really shows up here during #wizardjam, has finished a non-jam game. It's this mummy game I used to talk about here! THE RED MUMMY Here Is The Itch.io!! It's a...uh....cinematic platformer that has comics in it- zzzzzzzzzz Sorry! I've been pimping this all morning. Just maybe check it out and lemme know what you think! Also, I would never have made games at all if not for Thumbs community. So thanks everyone! I mean it!
  18. That's right! The classic paper & pencil RPG is coming back as a video game! So this isn't technically an episode title, but Jake talks about Classic Dogs & Demons on Important If True: Here! You play as 500 dogs and must destroy towering city-sized demons. It's going to be a grid-based puzzle game sorta like Adventures of Lolo or Stephen's Sausage Roll. The current priorities are getting the dogs to: Bark randomly Pee Fetch Cast dark rituals to banish demons I've got help with the game this time (I'm mainly tackling the art side of things). Hopefully my cohort will come on here and comment too! I'm super into Wizard Jam (yet again) and thanks to the Thumbs and all here making cool games! Stay Spicy! Release: Here's The Itch.io!! More info below...
  19. [Release] Classic Dogs & Demons

Also.... I Made A GameDev Video On Youtube!! (click link above ^^^ )
  20. [Release] Classic Dogs & Demons

Thanks...and thanks for being first to comment! I do wish the puzzles were tighter. I think we could have tutorialized how the demons move better. They are very deliberate, but looking over some people's shoulders, many assume they are just moving randomly. Cool. I'm glad we were able to create an interesting atmosphere. It's something I really love about games: exploring bizarre spaces. And really one of the main reasons I've moved to gamedev (from making comics). So glad we hit the mark...and thanks! Yeah, I probably put more time than I should have in that intro. I must've convinced myself there would be a "Best Intro" award or something, haha. Dunno, just dreamed it up and had to make it! We didn't have time to explain all the mechanics. The bark stuns them for 3 turns. Which is important for getting you out of jams sometimes I found when designing levels. You are sometimes "out of sync" with the demon paths and wait for a bark so the timing is right to slide through! Wow. Thanks a lot. Thanks for continuing to be supportive of my work! I can't take credit for it all; Greg and I developed the idea together! I can't imagine that intro without the Law & Order theme now. It would all fall apart without it! Hilariously, dogs will absolutely freak out at this game. Re: skipping cutscenes. Yes, that's superbly annoying and I wanna get a version in where you can skip. Are the Thumbs going to stream the games? If so, I'll get a new version out post-haste.
  21. [RELEASE] The Purity of a Child's Boredom

This is fantastic, man! I have no idea the connection between the pod bits and the bird scene, but amazingly well done and I greatly enjoy the experimental weirdness on display! Did I..save something?
  22. [Release] Prepare for the Jelly

This might be the slickest tower defense game I've played. I failed the main levels but had no problem with cool.txt (which I made)!
  23. [RELEASED] Odds and Ends

Yes! I enjoyed visiting The Black Lodge for a bit! Well done and great atmosphere. Something about it reminds me of the Dark Engine too (the original Thief games, System Shock 2)....the big surreal spaces and sound maybe.
  24. [Release] Classic Dogs & Demons

Hey, is the game working for people? I got a report it is freezing my friend's PC. Yikes!
