  1. Oh wow this is interesting and extra weird because you're a samurai in America but it uses Irish? I was already amused enough to hear Dark Souls 2 have legit, irish accents rather than over the top stuff, let alone learn a team ninja game has Irish. I wonder if there's any big reason behind it or is it largely a fun style choice.
  2. That's great, thank you!
  3. Feel better Nick! Was also going to post to note that only the first Bloodborne session was highlighted and exported to Youtube, the other one is still sitting here as a past broadcast on twitch but that's all.
  4. [RELEASE] Mr. Puffin in The Dark Castle

That head sqaush down as the armor falls is just a fantastic touch.
  5. Idle Thumbs !!: With Bagblast

All this talk about Mario lore but you still refuse to ask the real question. Who is Warupeachi, and why is she hidden away?
  6. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Also based on this tweet it sounds like the price for Nintendonline is actually quite reasonable. It's "2-3,000 yen ($17.50 - $26.50) YEARLY", making it about half the price of Sony/Microsoft's ones I believe. That's way more palateable to me, for the weird old multiplayer games and getting some online Splatoon and Mario Kart action.
  7. Other podcasts

Thanks! I should've asked for this in my previous post, but do you think I'd miss much by not having seen all of X-Files and not watching along with them?
  8. Criticker: It Tells You If You'll Like a Movie

Yeah I make myself only spend a short period thinking about it. If I'm taking longer than a few seconds then I just skip the movie. In my case, they're not at all reviews just indications of my overall enjoyment of the movie.
  9. Other podcasts

I've been enjoying podcasts that explore media entry by entry lately. Specifically two called Morph Club and Talking Simpsons. Morph Club is Animorphs and TS is obviously about the Sampsons. In both cases the hosts just do a deep dive on each book/episode as they make their way through. I enjoy both a lot as a way to revisit an old series and hear critical conversation about them. Does anyone have any other recommendations for podcasts that cover other media in a similar way?
  10. The McElroy Family of Products

I'd definitely recommend skipping ahead to another season in FatT if audio issues or teething troubles bug you in season 1. They're separate arcs and even after Marielda they did a recap of the first season to catch people up before continuing with it. I think the problem with the boys saying no to Griffin is that it's the antithesis of the "Yes and" you're supposed to do in improv. Obviously Griffin doesn't always "yes and", but he has to do a lot more prep for the show and doesn't seem to be that experienced a player. If that's how they all want to play the game (and mostly they seem to be happy with it) then I'm not going to complain too much about that specifically.
  11. Criticker: It Tells You If You'll Like a Movie

I'm mostly gauging on the vague category I put it in. Actively offensive/total trash is 1-40, would not rewatch, may regret watching is 40-60, good but not one I'd recommend/return to is 60-80 and then 80-100 is movies I actually like a lot.
  12. The McElroy Family of Products

I did binge up til this arc so I think that's a lot of it (especially when 2 weeks is the wait between episodes). But also yes the contrast between this and the last arc is stark. The 11th Hour felt very Friends at the Table like to me. Griffin had characters and events but he let the boys off the leash and do things out of his intended order, probably because as a time loop there wasn't really a way for them to miss things by playing it 'wrong'. Griffin's storytelling is fine, but not my interest. I like the surprising moments where systems collide. When Taako realised he could levitate a crab and then get Magnus to punch it out the train window, that stuff is great and surprising. I like Actual Play podcasts more than scripted fiction because the unexpected improvised turns are always more fun to me than the more obvious fictional arcs. I'm rarely very surprised by Griffins pre-planned twists but I love every unexpected turn.
  13. The McElroy Family of Products

They are literally suffering I don't think this is the final arc though, isn't this just the 2nd last relic? It's the 6th of 7 if I remember right.
  14. The McElroy Family of Products

The stuff he wrote there makes sense. Just that they've been in a setting with no real theme, fighting random monsters and not interacting with many NPCs while they literally loop through rooms.
  15. The McElroy Family of Products

Yeah he sorta took the idea of the Zero Escape style games, but then sucked a lot of the fun out of them by removing any NPC interaction.
  16. Criticker: It Tells You If You'll Like a Movie

This is really cool, I've been playing with it a bunch. Definitely a good way to motivate me into watching immense backlog of things.
  17. I didn't post about the show's new direction last week, but the Mouthmoods talk was great, and a good sign that you can do the podcast format without games being the specific focus. Just talk about what interests you and fun chats like this will come out.
  18. The Next President

Nothing about this election has been typical.
  19. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Oh weird, I don't even remember hearing about this.
  20. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Hopefully the touch screen means it'll function reasonably well as a tablet, with decent tools for using the Internet. People gave generally been positive on the hardware (besides the price) so I'm optimistic.
  21. I like watching Nick be oblivious to the story of Dark Souls 2. Cause I also didn't follow it very well at all and I was also wondering what the chair story was when that came up.
  22. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Battery wise there's been speculation that you could use those smartphone battery packs to charge the Switch, since it has that standard USB socket. Is there any battery specs yet, indicating what the literal capacity is?
  23. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Over the last few days the news has largely confirmed and refuted my two biggest concerns. Everyone's talked about the game line up, though I hope they'll have a big showing on the virtual console to flesh that out. The positive I've seen is that the device itself sounds pretty solid and pleasing, at least from the exposure people have had. Prices mean I'm waiting though. The console price is fair here at the €330 I expected. But I rarely buy games for more than €30. I could certainly do Zelda at launch, but everything else is higher priced than I would really pay. Down the line I'll be looking at good bundles, especially if news about the virtual console and tertiary Internet apps (like Netflix) seems positive too.
  24. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Alright! Rather than clutter this thread with scheduling talk I'll PM you all a discord link. I can pass it on to anyone else who's interested.
  25. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

if you mean the technical logistics, I was planning on streaming footage of our Roll20 game with players' voices on Discord/Skype.
