In the the adventure zone zone (the offweek show they did during the max fun drive) they talk about alignment a little and also how Justin & Clint both kind of rerolled their characters to match more what they wanted to do after they got the basics under themselves. Like Travis created an entire backstory about being a folkhero and stuff, but Justin & Clint kind of felt their way through things as they went, and really aren't interested in holding themselves to the alignments they picked before they knew what their characters were. Like there are times where the three of them are just mercilessly mean/cruel to NPCs that kind of just bums me out. Like I LOVE Angus, and it makes me sad that he just kind of gets picked on whenever he comes up, especially because Griffin plays him so earnest and affectionate. I'm really most interested in seeing what story Griffin cooks up more than anything else, and I can see how if you're putting yourself in the place of either DM or player it can be frustrating and easy to say "i wouldn't do this. this would bother me or the players i play with normally"

I know you're not in the US, but things like CDs and bonds are reliable low risk investments that are better than just leaving it in a savings account. 401ks are called that as a result of being tied to part of the IRS tax code, so there may be an equivalent in the UK/Germany, but i don't know what they'd be called. (The nice thing about a 401k is it contributions can be taken out of your paycheck pre-tax, your employer may offer a $ for $ match up to a certain percentage of your salary & there's a big disincentive to touch that money before retirement, so that you will truly get 40+ years of accrual out of the money you put in early in your career)

yoooooo, my boyf is having me take bourbon shots with him, which i am chasing with wine. i'm very glad that i can leverage these forums into friendships (meat space & internet) with y'all. I wish i felt more comfortable expressing my affection with the people in the world that I appreciate. I think it's a combination of my personality (i am inclined to bottle emotions) plus being from the Midwest where we don't really ever express what we truly feel. It flattens my expression to the middle even when I have extreme emotions like love and anger to express.

I liked musical chairs best because it gave me a huge variety of games and views on everything, and I liked all the hosts so getting to here from everyone like once a month was really nice.

I mean, I, and I'm sure others, have tweeted at Sean before now, but this is the first time someone created a whole thread dedicated to the conversation. I also just assume that every question/comment I've thought about asking to even a semi-visible figure has been asked by a dozen people before and will be by a dozen after to me, and unless it's really important or any of my business, I won't bother them with it. I try to be cognizant of other people's time and every person assuming they're the only one doing something is how you get people bombarded & leads to email & twitter being a source of anxiety for people. Frankly, it's none of my business why or why not someone is on the show, which is why this thread & conversation mostly grosses me out. The best thing I can do is to be sure to tell the people that I enjoy that I enjoy them, and that I like the stuff they make.

Is the section where listener counter dropped one where the episodes were reliably coming out at the same time each week, or did it vary? Is it after Danielle left? Before? I know that I have a fairly set podcast roster I use for my commute and if something is late or skipped I sometimes just won't ever get back to it, as something else steps up to take that slot. I think things like listener counts are super interesting, and almost no podcast hosts can/will talk about it, so even a little explanation is intoxicating to me.

My #1 problem with point & click adventures is that the game teaches you something does not work and then, without explanation, it suddenly works, but why would you even try that, when the game has taught you the whole time that you can't do that thing. Examples: In grim fandango, Manny spends the whole game worried about damaging his blade, but In Day of the Tentacle, the whole game is, apparently 'distract this person so you can take the thing next to them'

Ever since the post TI aui kick, I've said that I think Valve fucked up by doing 4 events a year instead of 3. You either kick someone from the team before the confetti has even been cleaned up (EG w/ Aui) and look like a dick for that (even though I know that it was done in large part to give Aui time to find another team.) or you wait and give your kicked players no time to find a new team (secret w/ w33 & misery) and look like a dick that way. The roster locks happen way too fast after events and is honestly only punishing players who are good enough to be on invite caliber rosters, but who can't afford to be picky about where they go if they want to play at all. -

I keep trying point & click adventures because i want to like them. I like puzzles, and I like narrative stories, but cartoon logic really gets to me. i thought Dropsy the Clown did a beautiful job of avoiding it, but that might be one of the only point and clicks I actually truly loved? I'm really hoping that playing DotT with someone else will help alleviate this. I felt largely the same about Broken Age as marginalgloss did. I didn't love Grim Fandango nearly as much as everyone else I encounter did, and played that one alone.

Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Since we made ramen for the (green) bean challenge, Cory made us chow mein last night with ramen noodles and it was delicious. He's cooked for long enough that he doesn't really use recipes for stuff like this. We got some chicken thighs, marinated them in a sauce we got from costco (it's basically just sugar and soy sauce) then cooked them with onions, green peppers, bok choy. He used more soy sauce and some sesame oil to make the sauce, boiled some ramen and added it to the pan at the end. it was very good, but I am a very bad food photographer. -
Me & my boyfriend played about 2 hours of this last night. It was fun. The cartoony way the mouths move still rubs me the wrong way because they move in dramatically different ways than the ways mouths actually move when you speak.

"voting against their own self interests" is a load of shit. Just because they value things that you don't doesn't make them dumb. Religion is important to people, and it gets to be important to people. Maybe talk about the systematic disenfranchisement of the south via the gutting of the VRA rather than saying that southern voters don't even know what's best for them or what they should actually want.

Agreed Gorm. I hope Bernie keeps pushing Hillary left. What I hope for is obviously not a Trump nomination, but if he does become the nominee that that will suppress enthusiasm and therefore voter turn out of (semi) rational republicans, and that the democratic party, no matter who is the nominee, does everything it can to mobilize it's young and Black voters to actually go vote.
