  1. Hotline Miami

I avoid the double-barreled shotguns anyway, if I can. I really like the silenced pistols, especially once I discovered one bullet is enough to bring down the fat dudes.
  2. Hotline Miami

Gave up on this one graph in. I think it's ludicrous to call the game bad because you're not enjoying it. You can dislike it, sure--but I actively love this game. I find it challenging, and I feel rewarded when I successfully navigate between levels, even if it takes me 100 retries to reach the final screen. Criticism's all well and good, but I think your approach here is misguided. HM2's design is certainly intentional, but I wouldn't ever call it intentionally bad.
  3. PL4YST4TION 4

Redbox that shit. It's a game you sit down and play once.
  4. Let's get back on topic here. Last night I was watching a Giant Bomb video when I experience a BSOD. The machine then restarted itself and failed to pass POST, and went into an endless cycle of testing. Finally could get it to POST, but it wouldn't stay on the desktop for more than a minute or two. I tried unseating the GPU, I tried updating drivers. I ran chkdsk. Finally, I unseated DIMM No. 2 and managed to get stable. Downloaded and installed MemTest86 on a USB drive, ran the test on DIMM No. 1, which I subjected to 3 passes with zero errors. Shut down the system, swapped in DIMM No. 2 into DIMM No. 1's slot, machine wouldn't POST. Went to Best Buy and now I have 16GB of RAM instead of 8. The original pair is G. Skill, so I'm going to RMA the bad RAM and then probably offload the new pair to offset the cost of my 2x16GB DIMMs. Anyone in need of a 2x4GB pair of G. Skill Sniper Series RAM (1866MHz, 9-10-9-28 CAS)?
  5. Jeff LEGOldblum a.k.a. LEGO Jurassic World

Nothing "interrupts" Dr. Grant's inspection of the raptor feeding, really; in fact, he rudely interrupted Mr. DNA's auto erotica tour of the inGen labs, what with their Thinkin' Machines sooper computers.
  6. Hotline Miami

Nearing the end of Act 2 and still loving the game. Maybe y'all play these games differently, but I'm the kind of dude who will finish a mission or two and then switch to something else or stop playing games for the night. I don't mind that the levels are longer and more difficult--and I wouldn't even say I'm finding the game more difficult to any real degree. Those complaining about the "puzzle" nature of the level design confuse me, because that's how I played the first game: as a puzzle to be solved. I get the impression that HM2 is as good a game as it could possibly be. Is it as provocative and amazing as the first? Probably not, but Dennaton was basically damned if they did, damned if they didn't. So far HM2 has delivered exactly the experience I was hoping for--Hotline Miami with a larger soundtrack and some bigger, more grandiose ideas. Maybe I'm not asking enough from a $15 game?
  7. Star Citizen

Played this today at SX. So it's pretty. But I gotta say, both Elite and EVE Valkyrie managed to blow me away more than Star Citizen has thus far. It looks nice, but I just have this nagging suspicion that the game can't possibly deliver on its promises.
  8. Hotline Miami

So I'm only through Act I, but I dig this game a lot so far. Sure, it's more Hotline Miami. And yes, it's more difficult and there's more plot. But you know what? I'm okay with everything so far (weird sexual violence of the opening aside). Maybe it's not as memorable as the first game, but that shit was lightning in a bottle. Overall I'm satisfied with how this plays and sounds, and I'm glad that Dennaton branched out as they have. For whatever reason, this is the kind of ambitious sequel I want to see (as opposed to something like MGS2 or Halo 2).
  9. Hotline Miami

So I'm foolish and bought the 3xLP collector's edition at the SXSW gaming expo this evening.
  10. Which is best Bass?

    Fender P-Bass.
  11. Hotline Miami

  12. Cities: Skylines

This is currently available for $22 on GMG, and I'm tempted to pull the trigger. I haven't played a city-building game since Sim City 2000 on my friend's Mac.
  13. Half-Life 3

Haberdashers aren't actually hat salesmen, sorry to say.
  14. PAX East

Fingers crossed their hardware arrives before the show. At PAX South, they only had one Oculus/Saitek setup for most of Friday.
  15. Brad driving a QL is usually a recipe for frustration. I've been a huge fan of the Drew/Dan QLs, and Drew mentioned that Dan will be his co-pilot for sims from here on out, which should be great fun. I think Dan has been a fantastic foil for Drew, and has coaxed the young Scanlon out of his shell a bit. I definitely miss Vinny on the Bombcast, but the recent spate of Vinny/Alex QLs have been fantastic (especially that broken pirate game, oh God). Though I've been recently making my way through the Bombcast back catalog again in order, and there definitely was something about the original lineup of the show that has since disappeared into the ether. RIP Ryan Davis.
  16. Maybe this is more than y'all are ready to talk about, but I was curious as to whether the game tracks the frequency of your interactions/responses with Delilah as well as the tree you've chosen? For instance, if I don't trigger the conversation options regarding the nudity of the teens swimming in the lake, does that change the game in some way?
  17. Star Citizen

There's going to be a panel at SXSW open to the public, and Chris Roberts is gonna be there. I'm going to try and make it if I can, looks cool.
  18. The Stanley Parable

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QqkZP_SScg One of my favorite awkward product placement moments in TV history.
  19. Mitch Dyer is actually a pretty alright guy, far as I can tell. He's also an outspoken proponent of Far Cry 2.
  20. Ahaha, of course they . Of course they did.
  21. Unreal Engine 4 Thread

So UE4 is now free. Cool.
  22. I personally despise Polygon's scoring system, specifically this portion of it: It just rubs me the wrong way. The US Gamer staff went over their review scoring policy on a recent podcast, and it seemed prudent--they rate games on a five-point scale (with half points being removed) and each reviewer is allowed to award the game's score based on his instinctive feelings. I also think with a 20-point scale (such as Polygon's) veers too closely to IGN's 100-point monstrosity and leads to a near-useless granularity when considering scores. I think review scores and Metacritic can be helpful to take a quick pulse of the industry-at-large, but I am not inclined to visit Metacritic on a regular basis. I'm much more likely to cycle through the handful of places I trust and read their reviews, or--as has become increasingly common--I'll listen to their associated podcasts which usually suss out a lot more relevant information.
  23. Twitch streams

I got an email notification about, thanks for following. I'll definitely bump this thread the next time I'm playing. I just finished up Nova Prospekt, so I'm coming down to the wire...but hell, I might play the two episodes as well. A friend on another board is trying to get a few of us streaming semi-regularly, so I'll definitely keep up with it. I was tempted to go buy some green fabric and build my own chroma key background, as OBS can key out the BG on the fly.
  24. PL4YST4TION 4

The Order certainly took a battering this morning. It must suck to spend so much time and effort (and money!) on something that is summarily dumped on for feeling hollow.
