  2. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

You'll definitely get a handful of really well designed arenas as the game progresses, full of skylines to zip around on. I'm not sure they will redeem the problems you're already having.
  3. Idle Thumbs Readers Slack & Discord

    Down here too.
  4. Get it: https://spennydubz.itch.io/serious-maam This is very much incomplete. No sounds, no music. I tried to experiment with some action controls, and this is what came out.
  5. [Release] Serious Ma'am

Seeing all those little tutorials I definitely wanted to create an environment I could play around with some ideas in. I think, my take away, is that I am not really ready to dedicate all that much time to being a game artist. The first time I baked the lights it was an overnight job. The second time I left in running overnight and it was crashing out because it used all my RAM. I started looking into how to optimize the process, Unity's tutorial on baked lighting optimization is mega huge, you have to go per object, and yeah, okay, definitely not ready to spend that much time on game art

You need to put a trigger warning at the top of this post. I hated doing the steam stuff. If you really want some fun with image sizes, add trading cards!
  7. [Release] Serious Ma'am

Pretty simple, I grab the surface normal of the model, and based on how up it's pointing blend between two colours (white for up, blue for sideways). it's pretty accidental it looks as good as it does, when you play the game you'll probably see a few blemishes too. So far, I like ASE, but i have really only scratched the surface. It's probably a 6/10 for intuitiveness, which, ain't bad. Looks to be a pretty powerful tool.
  8. [RELEASED] The World Begins With You

    Holy cow that looks beautiful.
  9. [Release] Serious Ma'am

Hey, I wrote out some thoughts on this little project in a Twitter thread The long and short of it, I think it would be a lot of work to make this good.
  10. [Dev Log] SHADOW of SOMETHING

The lens flare title reveal is the piece de resistance.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the plug-ins. I wonder if the problem with extensibility is a problem you with the specific plug-ins, or a problem with all plug-ins. You said you were unfamiliar with the code base, which would be true of all plug-ins. That said, does the code make it easy to get familiar with? Is it commented?
  12. [Dev Log] SHADOW of SOMETHING

That's really neat you got to implement something like that.

Shadow of Something: Call of Otaku City

What if you downloaded a bunch of free environments, and around every environment there were huge walls, and going through the walls would bring you to a new environment. Who built the walls? Mystery?
  15. [RELEASED]Pizza Tonight!

Is the crust the pizza's bones? I like the wobbly chef.
  16. [Dev Log] SHADOW of SOMETHING

I love that you're doing this.
  17. Stranger Things

I am curious if anyone thought that group of characters was "cool". I am not sure if they do not appeal to me because I'm too young for the nostalgia of their look, or if genuinely they're just kind of doofy.
  18. Stranger Things

There's a few quotes in this article that suggest the show runners knew that episode would be divisive. The small town setting just has such a universality, relatable quality to it. It's something the adventure movies in the 80s had figured out.
  19. Stranger Things

I mean, "Stay Frosty" is obviously a reference to the pioneering 3D cartoon Reboot, as it is the main character Bob's catchphrase.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I have been telling a lot of people to watch American Vandal based on my enjoyment of it, and backing it up with the commentary and meaning expressed in this thread. You're throwing a lot of shade at a group of writers who have been producing good sketch comedy for the last 15 years.
  21. Marvel movies

I feel like "with great power comes great responsibility" wouldn't have made much sense at all. In this universe, aliens invaded earth, Norse gods are real dudes, and Iron Man can blow up tanks by pointing his palms at them. The point being, relatively speaking, Spiderman's powers aren't all that great. I like this a lot! It gives room for the character to explore what the powers mean on his own. Test his own moral compass against what is right and wrong. Find the responsibilities for himself, as they are reflected on his friends, family, and neighbourhood. I would probably agree that Spidey comes out pretty directly unaffected by his actions, but, isn't that kind of what makes a low stakes drama work? We kind of know Spiderman will be okay at the end of the day, but his actions are reflected in where the other characters are left off and how their relationships have changed.
  22. Marvel movies

I thought Spiderman Home Coming was pretty great. I liked that the bad guys were repurposing alien technology. I liked Michael Keaton's performance. I liked that it told a story that was low key, not the fate of the world. Pretty good Marvel movie.
