After quitting, I came back, and last night beat the level I was struggling on (Tower of Fate: Entrance). I don't know what it was, but I completely aced it. I just found the first section incredibly hard, but everything else was manageable. I now think it's a pretty ok game.

My current job is coming to a close in 6-9 months, after which I intend to move back down to London/South East where the job market is massively superior. That's too long for her to wait though. We will try long distance, but I don't have faith that it'll work.

My girlfriend just told me she's moving back to the Czech Republic because she can't afford it in the UK and the job market is awful in Manchester. I'm real sad about it.

Well it was only one guy, but it felt too consistent for the luck. Maybe the guy was just getting head shots, because it was definitely no more than 2 hits. I actually did better than I expected I would. My K:D was just below 1. I also gave prison of the elders a go. It's pretty fun! It's basically the same as doing a mission, but without the story. It was a bit easy, but that's probably because my group was over levelled.

I'm using a scout rifle and I think I was the only person doing so. It was just pulse rifles and hand canons. My two most hated guns. One guy was two shotting me with hand canon body shots.

What time (and time zone)?

Ok cool, that should really help with the matchmaking issue. I still don't get why there's no matchmaking for everything but hardcore pvp.

Cool I joined the100.io group. I'll figure out how to use it when I get home from work. Quite nicely, a lot of the players sync up with my early morning play (I generally play before work because I'm up anyway). Is there a way to join more than one group?
-
Thanks for the replies. That's cool. I don't know if I can do the weekly stuff though. If it doesn't have matchmaking I'm pretty much out. POE sounds kinda fun, I've not experienced that. Seeing it mentioned in the "forever games" thread made me want to try it again. Especially as it certainly has the ability to be one of those games now there's a chunk of extra content.

Like calling it The Framerate Police.

So where's Destiny at now? I've not played it in a while, and I'd like to play again. Has it devolved into 90% PvP?

I didn't play much, it was boring going against teams of 1 or 3.

Yup I noticed that. Even had a 4 vs 1 Eat/Eat fight. I guess team sleep were all sleeping.

I have no idea what I'm doing when I play The World Ends With You. The combat is pretty much a mixture of button mashing and swiping my stylus around randomly. For some reason I get A ranks a lot. It feels like I'm playing a fighting game, where I just hit everything and hope that I win.

I love this idea. I want to replay games, it's something I never do, so I end up buying more and more games. I think if I made a list off the top of my head: - Souls (Dark, Dark 2 and Bloodborne) - Metroid series. Let's learn to speed run. - Binding of Isaac - Rogue Legacy - Xcom Enemy Unknown - Monster Hunter - Fire Emblem - Platinum games like The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))

What platform are you on? I'm about to play it on ps4, I got to the first major area and I was seeing a ton of ghosts. Need to finish the witcher before I play it though.- 1284 replies

Cool, I might try that. I beat the first boss, then after 40 mins of exploring I died. Without saving. I put it down and haven't looked back. I guess I'll try Aria of Sorrow, but it's not high on my list after my disappointment with SotN. I'd like to jump into Cave Story. I've heard great things.

I don't really want to take this any more off topic, but I just don't understand your assertion that the controls are "loose" they're anything but loose. Have you tried to fight those extra bosses? The precise movement required to beat those completely discounts the argument of loose controls. I'm not saying you have to like the game, but I feel that opinion is just wrong. Playing SotN feels like my character is under water. There's delayed input on everything, and the movement is incredibly slow. That feels loose to me. I certainly don't think I could pull off similar level difficulty boss fights with that control scheme like you're asked to do in Rogue Legacy.

I'm going to stick with it, I really want to like it. After falling in love with pretty much every other Metroidvania I've played (which is so far 3 2D Metroids, Prime, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse and a few more I can't remember right now), I can't believe that something so well regarded is so hard for me to enjoy. I could have just been cranky each time I've picked it up to play. Sadly mood makes a huge difference on whether my first impression is good or bad. I should probably take a nap before I try again.

I ended up making a full Rath Soul set, gemmed out with evasion. It looks badass, and I steam rolled through a bunch of caravan 9 quests using it (although I wasn't really getting hit). The -health isn't a big deal if I bring some nutrients to each hunt. I tried out the long sword, but I don't like the charge up mechanic. Instead of the red buff feeling powerful, it makes everything else feel weak. IG and Bow are my favourite. I might try out SnS at some point. Making 2 sets is difficult though. Takes a long time! Thanks for the advice on elemental damage, I didn't consider that. Fire resist is pretty easy to come by. A thumbs hunting group would be awesome.

I honestly can't tell if that's a joke or not.

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated
Griddlelol replied to Erkki's topic in Idle Banter
So I ended up being gifted an old Dell Optiplex 780 from work. It was going to be recycled, but I figured I could get some use out of it. Would it be possible to upgrade such a computer slowly, or is that wayyy more hassle than it's worth? -
Other than the setting, and some clear inspiration in art design, I don't see much else in common between the two either. The fluidity is what I loved about Rogue Legacy. Constantly changing directions while jumping, dashing, double, triple, quadruple jumping to avoid danger. It makes me feel like a god. I loved that the onus is on the player to increase in skill by getting good a dodging shit. Your last point I can understand, but that sort of incremental progression is like crack to me. I find it incredibly satisfying to know I got one more upgrade, or just enough money to buy the weapon or armor upgrade. The money meta-game is really awesome. I played more SotN last night and got to a boss. It looked cool, I died, and realised I must have forgotten to save near by so I'm back at the first save point. I might be able to appreciate SotN from the perspective of an outsider, but I don't think I'll love it. Just understand why people like it.

Advice time again, really appreciate the help so far. So HR7 is tough. I'm getting killed constantly simply because 2 mistakes means I'm dead. I managed to kill one monster (some sort of wind dragon) with a group, and almost killed the silver rathian with a group (but the glaive guy carted 3 times). The rest have been a wash. Is there any armor value I should be shooting for to make it more manageable? Half the issue is that I don't know the monsters, and they're not in single player, so I can't play them 100 times to learn their moves. Are these technically G rank? I feel so under geared!

The final boss of the single player makes the rest of the single player look bad. It's some good quality shit right there.
