  1. My main issue with is "the diagonals are too easy to hit" but phrasing it that way doesn't really indicate what the issue is. It is really that the pad often registers a diagonal when my intent was not a diagonal. With a straight cross-shaped dpad, it is much easier to give precise inputs exactly as you intend. This is particularly important for demanding platformers and for fighting games. The 360 controller's dpad is on a rocker and, when simply resting your thumb on it to use, as is presumably intended, it can easily lead to unintentional, or incorrect inputs. That isn't to say that it is impossible to use for things like platformers (though it is quite hard for fighting games) but it takes more getting used to than the dpads used by nintendo or sony

Dang that art is fantastic. Speaking of great art, I've been slowly trying to get all of Blame! (by Tsutomu Nihei) which has incredible art. It is hard, since it is out of print. Most volumes are at least $30 used, so far I have the first 3. There are 10 though.
  3. Star Citizen

I have not been following star citizen at all, but since I started playing Elite Dangerous and loving it, I was thinking about SC. I've no plans to get into it now, but have they/anyone said anything about how the game will be priced and sold when it is a finished thing (if that ever happens)? Will ships still be up to hundreds of dollars each?
  4. I've been pretty excited for this. I am loving elite as well. Bought a HOTAS for it and so now I legally have to play any new space sim.
  5. Oh! I actually did play Avara. Not a lot, but I do remember it. I probably haven't thought about that game in years.
  6. I dont think so, EV was a top down space exploration game. At least, I don't remember anything like that, but now I want to know what that game is.
  7. The discussion about the kids installing minecraft mods reminded me of some of my early video game experiences. When I was probably like, 8 or 10 or 12 something, I started playing Escape Velocity (on Mac OS 7 or 8), and I think that was my first experience with modding. There was a version of Resedit that was made specifically for editing the EV resource files, called EV edit. I would install a bunch of mods for that game, and make my own just by editing the resources. I never made any content or anything, just changed values and stuff. Still, I think that experience was very formative for me -- I am a software developer, and I think early experiences like that definitely contributed to my interest, sort of kindling a desire to tinker with software and take it apart, or change it. As a kid though, all I was thinking about was getting the coolest ship and getting these mods working. Also, classic mac games. The best.
  8. Yeah I think we also just had it on palm sunday. At the elementary/middle school it was at the mandatory Thursday mass though, but I think they may have ended up getting rid of it because kids with asthma didn't get along well with the smoke orb.
  9. I, too, was raised catholic. The church my family attended didn't usually use a smoke orb though, but I went to an episcopalian school and they were full smoke orb
  10. Ferguson

Both make sense. As I said, I don't expect anything to change, but its low effort from me and might elicit a response. Congress did once order the DOJ to investigate police brutality & homicides, but the DOJ never complied.
  11. Ferguson

Anyway, I am planning to contact my congressional representatives to ask for an investigation into police murders and brutality and efforts to demilitarize the police nationwide. I don't expect anything, of course, but hopefully I will at least get a response. Ferguson is an example of a much larger issue that I would like to see addressed.
  12. Divinity: Original Sin

For what it is worth, I was incorrect about the star stones. It just queues unlocks up until after said event ends, and you unlock one per visit to the end of time it seems.
  13. Ferguson

I think its a lot simpler than that, as Badfinger pointed out. It is a race issue. There is an incredible double standard wrt weapons based on race. Especially when many of the police are white in an area with a centuries long legacy of racism, but it is an issue all over the country.
  14. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I recall hearing talk of it when I did play eve and thought it was a silly idea but I've no idea if it ever got implemented or not. I assume it did. On the Elite front, I made my first profit wooo! I have like 1500 credits now. Thanks to this trade route calculator (http://www.elitedangeroustrader.co.uk/). It's like eve but easy mode. Anyway this game is great. Also I'm planning to try learning to use flight assist off a little. I changed the throttle from forward only to full range, and changed the button that used to be reverse thrust toggle to be flight assist toggle. Wish me luck.
  15. Oh thanks. that's good. Those are confusing and I was never sure. I had heard Rebirth was a trash fire, which is unfortunate. Turns out I do have Terran Conflict already, so I can just pick up Albion Prelude.
  16. I have uh. some version of X3. I think its probably Terran Conflict? Idk it seems like there are 17 different games called X3 but maybe its just 1 and a few expansions. I'll have to check though. I haven't really played it at all, I bought it a while ago on sale I think.
  17. I bought a saitek x52 pro for elite dangerous, which I absolutely love, but now that I own it, I'd feel silly using what is a rather pricy peripherial for only one game, so I'm also looking for other flight simulators I can get into. I'm thinking about trying like, DCS, but that is too intimidating. Has anyone played it, and if so, is there a mode where I can just, make the plane go and then fly it? I'm not interested in simulating every system on a plane.
  18. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

So my X52-Pro arrived today, and I bought the beta. Going to be checking this out this evening if all goes well.

In webtoon news, a long running korean webtoon called Tower of God that I like is now off hiatus, and also they have all of it in english on the official english site (webtoons.com). Naver recently launched that which is great, but it meant the fan translated ones got taken down and a lot of the series on the new site are just starting in english, so they lose all the history. Anyway ToG has all its history and I like it and I'm happy its off hiatus.
  20. Divinity: Original Sin

So, I think I definitely wasted 2 star stones. If you use/find one while it apparently doesn't unlock any new areas. Aw well. Hopefully there more in total than are needed to unlock everywhere.
  21. San Francisco Residents!

I think there was probably a car on fire in the last of us.
  22. San Francisco Residents!

The Last of Us is a great game. Also I have never seen a car on fire here I am missing out.
  23. Divinity: Original Sin

I don't even have a blacksmith, other than someone with level 1 that can repair. So far that hasn't really been an issue. Same with crafting, the only crafting i've done is making a few skillbooks if I had a blank and a scroll.
