  1. I can't play Dota anymore. After watching Demon play with Weedman last night, any game that doesn't have Weedman in it just seems so lame by comparison. He's just so awesome.
  2. PL4YST4TION 4

Mark Cerny gave a talk at the Computer History Museum here a little bit ago and is a super cool guy. He's also super smart, I think he said he started going to Berkley when he was 13-14.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

http://www.artrocker.tv/mp3s/article/premiere-dead-sons-the-hollers-the-hymns Been waiting so long for them to finally put out an album, really digging this
  4. Really fun (and close) game last night! We should try to get inhouse games going on a more regular basis, especially since now the Thumbs channel in game seems to always have a decent amount of people in it.
  5. PL4YST4TION 4

I'll probably buy it if it looks like that. If it's all curvy and flashy I probably wont. If it's rack mountable it's a day 1 perch.
  6. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album, so far I like it.
  7. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New My Bloody Valentine cd, I'm so happy!
  8. Games that nail atmosphere and immersion

  9. anime

I actually like it, at least I like when a show starts with episodes that don't have to do with what the main plat ends up being about. In most of the things I think of, it's always a show that starts off with self contained episodes and then later in the season it does the multi-episode plot arc stuff. When that happens I don't mind it. I've been watching Sakamichi no Apollon/Kids on the Slope and so far I like it a lot, but I also really like jazz

  11. Fixed. I'm assuming it was a copyright thing, but still the really late name change I found weird considering they had already changed him name from WC3 already.
  12. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

So far my favorite album this year (obviously that doesn't mean anything at this point) is Pomegranate Tiger's debut album. Good instrumental proggy metal. http://pomegranatetiger.bandcamp.com/
  13. Show me your desk/gaming space

You can adjust how the monitors are in relationship to one another. It works out fine I guess. As for the mouse, the sensitivity is as high as it goes and space ends up never being an issue.
  14. Show me your desk/gaming space

So that's what my desk currently looks like, I guess. You may notice I have some pretty sweet climate control, hot is on the left, cold is on the right. Also I'm pretty proud of my dual monitor setup. You might not be able to tell because of the angle the picture was taken from, but when sitting the bottom of the 4:3 monitor is above the top of my head.
  15. Just played a game that went down to a base race and the naga on my team used ult while I was attacking the throne and we lost.
  16. The ship: fruitcake steam cruise.

If anyone has an extra copy I'd be down to play, but if not that's cool too.
  17. The ship: fruitcake steam cruise.

How exactly do keys for The Ship work? Do people that buy the game get extra keys?
  18. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I forgot to post this, but the new Circle Takes the Square album is super good. It came out right at the end of 2012, but probably manages to work its way into my top 3 albums of the year if I were to try and come up with such a list (I haven't and don't know what else would be on it). http://ctts.bandcamp...lume-number-one Also, I've been on a Brothers Johnson spree the past week or so and have listened to probably 20 times in the past couple days.
  19. Mother Night - Kurt Vonnegut

I enjoyed it a lot. Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors, I'm pretty sure I've read every book he's written at least once at some point in my life, and some multiple times. Mother Night I liked, though it's not my favorite book by his (probably Cat's Cradle), it's also definitely the most depressing book by him. As far as "Are the rest of works as grounded? Or will we I be zipping across time and space and watching Vonnegut get personally involved in his stories again?" it's mostly the latter.
  20. 1 books at a time or multiple

This. I have so many books that I don't finish that end up in limbo because I want to finish them, but then I have to start from the beginning, and I'll plan on doing that and then decide to read something else and it just becomes a mess and I never actually do end up reading them.
  21. The ship: fruitcake steam cruise.

Is this The Ship where you walk around and try to kill someone while someone tries to kill you? If so I was going to buy it during the summer sale I think, but I ended up not getting it because I wasn't sure if it still had people online. I'm now potentially regretting not getting it (it was like $2 I think).
  22. http://i.imgur.com/JBESw.jpg So I guess they're finally patching the bug with illusions and quelling blade.
  23. eReaders - What is everyone's thoughts?

I have a Kindle which I use to read 90% of the books I read these days, and a Nexus 7 tablet which I use almost only for reading comics. I like both and prefer both over physical books, though in some cases there are certain books I think work better in book form, mostly things that require flipping back and forth like something with an appendix that matters, but I haven't read a book like that in some time and it would still be easy enough to do since with a Kindle you can just search for things or put a bookmark at the appendix or something. As for the having a physical collection aspect, I can definitely understand it, but personally am fine with digital copies in most cases. With comics especially I much prefer having a digital library as opposed to a stack, but I also still buy paper editions of certain books that I know I'll want to have hard copies of to look at or share or whatever.
  24. I haven't played League in probably 8 months or so, but all of my friends still play it and every time I mention something like being able to pause the game they say how it would never work in League because no one would actually wait if a player dc'd and would just unpause (which to be fair is the case in Dota 2 and HoN sometimes as well)
  25. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

So I guess Kenny G's son is pretty good at guitar. Also I guess the G stands for "Gorelick", which is pretty metal.
