Idle Thumbs Tablature

Recommended Posts

I was trying to spin the title into a "the threat of x" structure, but I couldn't think of a good one.

When Chris performed the acoustic Wizard at the Idle Thumbs 51 PAX show, I learned the song by ear and by watching Chris' hands in the video. The version on the album is a little different, and I was bored enough to write down tabs for it. I'm not the sharpest aurally, but this will sound pretty close to the song (also please excuse the messy formatting).

The opening thing is basically 4 changes. On the third, you'll slide your first finger from the 3rd fret to the 4th. On the last one, you'll start with your index on the 3rd fret of of the D string, which is then covered by your pinkie on the 6th fret of the D. Your index then goes up to the B string on the 3rd fret.

e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------4---------------------------------------------------|
G|------5-------5------------------------------------------------|
D|----5---5---5---5----------------------------------------------|
A|--3------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|

e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------3-----------------------------------------------|
G|--------5-------------5----------------------------------------|
D|-----5-----5------5-------5------------------------------------|
A|--5------------------------------------------------------------|

B|----------------3------4---------------------------------------|
G|---------5----------------5----------------------------------|
D|------5-----5------5------------------------------------------|
A|---6-----------------------------------------------------------|

B|--------------------3-----------------------------------------|
G|------------5---------------5---------------------------------|
D|---3---6-------6-------6-------6------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|

The "verse" right after that begins with the chords Cm7 and F.

"But in the end, it doesn't matter" is then G#, G, Cm7 and F.

I'm fuzzy on everything after "the motherfuckin", but it's essentially the changes at the beginning but strummed fully. The first is just a Cm, and then:

e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------3-----------4------------6--------------------------|
G|----------5-----------5------------5---------------------------|
D|----------5-----------5------------3----------------------------|
A|----------5-----------6------------3---------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|

have fun.

I will now attempt to play this. Also, I love that the tabs look like a series of wizard hats.
