Erkki Posted September 9, 2004 Anyone played Tropico? I'm trying to find a strategy game to play until Evil Genius is released, but I find most of the RTS games uninteresting. So I tried Tropico, but things seem to happen too fast for me (or rather too slow) and there are so many things to take into account that it's hard to get started with the strategising Especially the building seems to go slow (although the speed is probably realistic). Should I build a lot of those Construction Offices at first to make building go faster?
Farbror Posted September 9, 2004 I've been trying to get a copy of Tropico recently, for the same reasons as you (Evil!!), but failed miserably, so I decided to purchase Space Colony instead. And one thing I'm very happy about is that all these games manages to somewhat stay away from the normal "citybuildingboringness" of similar "tycoon-wannabes". They all have something new and fresh and exciting in them, which makes them good. Oh, about your question, sorry. But here's a semi-good site that may or may not help you. MrHoatzin Posted September 9, 2004 If you've never played Startopia, you have to. If for no other reason, because it is my all-time favourite sim strategy game.
ragnar Posted September 9, 2004 I have a copy of Tropico at home, but I never played it much, so I really couldn't give much advice here. But construction offices, food production and homes are always a good start I think.
toblix Posted September 9, 2004 Startopia ruled. Also the music did that too. Too bad there's no soundtrack available.

I think I may have two or three songs stashed somewhere...
toblix Posted September 9, 2004 Yes, but that's not good enough for me. I want all the songs. In fact, give me all the songs... or give me death!
