I actually went to Carnegie Mellon, but sadly I had already graduated when he gave his last lecture there and didn't get to see it. CMU named a pedestrian bridge on campus after him. The bridge links the new computer science building and the center for the arts building as a symbolic tribute to the way he helped link the two disciplines. He even had a small role in the Star Trek reboot. He's the guy in the beginning who says "Captain, we have visual". He donated the check for that role to charity. He was a really inspiring guy. Damn, I didn't know any of that, I would be happy if I was even 10% of what he was.
