syntheticgerbil Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Example 2:http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4213/pondering_indie_spirit_derek_yu_.php#comment37470 from an indie developer bemoaning his obscurity by having a public meltdown in the comments thread of an unrelated interview. Oh man, here's the worst quote from him in my opinion: It is my honest opinion that Flytrap is the best game I've ever played, and I've played many thousands of games ranging the entire span of the game industry's history. Also, I'm the pickiest gamer possible. That was my job before, afterall, I was a playtester (unfortunately I was too good at my job though and the sensitive designers didn't like me giving so much feedback; hence why I struck out on my own). Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's referring to his own game. He makes me think of the angry nerds who fail a test and blame the failure on the fact that they were too smart for the questions and that they were giving right answers all along that somehow the writer of the test didn't anticipate. Oh, and this: The interesting thing about why violent video games don't appeal to women isn't actually the violence itself, it's the act of destruction. I read about Pac-man, "Women love Pac-man because it's a game of consumption rather than destruction". What do women, on average, like to do the most? Shop and eat; aka consume. That's women for you... I wish everyone in these Gamasutra comments wasn't trying so hard to be diplomatic to the guy.
