toblix Posted May 12, 2009 I got this yesterday, and I wonder: Why isn't there already a thread about this awesome game? It's like they took Rythm Hokurosan! or whatever the fuck the GBA game was called and made it more awesome for the DS. It really is great, and you should all buy it. Honestly, those of you who have not you acquired it and all prerequisites to play it... disgust me.
miffy495 Posted May 12, 2009 The one prerequisite I'm lacking in is money. That, and I already own the GBA version, so I've been replaying that to try and keep myself on a budget. I will agree though, that if it's anywhere near as awesome as the GBA one, I'll need to buy it sooner or later.
syntheticgerbil Posted May 12, 2009 I wish they would translate the GBA one and port it. I own the Japanese cart, but I'm really confused because I don't know Japanese.
toblix Posted May 12, 2009 I seem to remember that it's just a matter of pressing shit. I've got the Japanese version and I played it just fine. ...or did I?
Sergey Posted May 12, 2009 The Japanese version I think was named Rhythm Tengoku. My buddy bought the cart at PAX two years ago, and man! What an incredible game that was. I enjoyed the GBA version more than I did the DS version.. Partly, I think the visual style works better in low resolution (it gives it that classic appeal). And frankly, I prefer the A button over the touch screen any day. I just didn't think the "flicking" did it for me. Edit: As far as translation... It's completely irrelevant. We played through the game twice, did many of the "extra" minigame things and played drums along with the game a number of times. Never did we need to even think about getting on GameFAQs and searching to find a translation. Most of the game's buttons are just icons anyway.
syntheticgerbil Posted May 13, 2009 I'll have to give it another go. I didn't delve into it yet. I bought it on Ebay and was messing around, and while I played a few minigames, I somehow expected less reading.
Sergey Posted May 13, 2009 I'll have to give it another go. I didn't delve into it yet. I bought it on Ebay and was messing around, and while I played a few minigames, I somehow expected less reading. Well before each minigame they show you a tutorial with some writing. But all of the minigames are self explanatory, there's really no reason to have the need of reading any of the tutorials.
