Salka Posted January 27, 2009 It's done! It's done! I'll never have to look at it again! It's OVER!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :tup: When do they take the money and how btw?
Roderick Posted January 27, 2009 Oh wow, you totally reminded me that I still have to do that before the end of January. Gotta spend a short morning in Excel and around receipts and invoices.
Scrobbs Posted January 27, 2009 Arg, I constantly put this off. I usually get charged interest on it because it's so tedious.
Marek Posted January 27, 2009 Same as Rodi for me. Well, I spent an afternoon doing that already, but then I made a huge mistake and accidentally deleted half my new Excel rows, so I need to do it again. I could outsource that shit but I guess it's not really enough work to make that worth it.
Nachimir Posted January 27, 2009 Oh fuck, I knew I'd forgotten something this week.
toblix Posted January 27, 2009 I love that doing my tax returns consists of me sending an SMS with a confirmation code. They just started with that the same year I had to do my first one.
Nachimir Posted January 27, 2009 Mine shouldn't be too bad, since I only did two bits of freelance work outside of my job for the year counted in this return. It's just a shitty, boring half hour chore.
Roderick Posted January 27, 2009 Toblix, your avatar scares the piss out of me. Well done.
Salka Posted January 27, 2009 You guys have excel and receipts? Did I miss something? Am I going to get arrested by HMRC now? Nach, when do they actually take the money from you? Cos I don't recall giving them bank details or anything so I'm a little confused. Do they send out a letter requesting the cash? And if so, when? Is it in April? Roderick Posted January 27, 2009 The 'tax+' that me and Marek are probably doing is only if you have your own company and have to keep a proper administration, where you can deduct the stuff you buy from your taxes (at least, in the Netherlands). But I don't know a lot about this stuff, I only know which tricks I can use to never have to pay taxes, ever.
Erkki Posted January 27, 2009 I love that doing my tax returns consists of me sending an SMS with a confirmation code. They just started with that the same year I had to do my first one. A bit more complicated for me, but basically I log in to a web site and press "ok" a couple of times.
syntheticgerbil Posted January 27, 2009 I have until April, unlike you guys, and I'm just going to do it later just because even though I have all of my forms already.
Salka Posted January 27, 2009 Yes I thought I had until april too, then I actually went to do it and they told me NO! HAHA! TRICKED YOU! You actually have until last week!
syntheticgerbil Posted January 28, 2009 Isn't it usually around the same time every year?
Scrobbs Posted January 28, 2009 I have to do all the limited company bullshit as well. Yufster, I generally send a cheque with the return, but it might be different. VAT returns suck too. Every 3 bloody months.
Nachimir Posted January 29, 2009 14 paltry quid owed for the only two bits of freelance work I did last year. Well worth the hour or so spent fucking around with logins and paperwork Surely now I'm employed full time there's a way to deregister for this? When do they take the money and how btw? You have to pay them. You can pay them online if you do online banking. I think you can send them a cheque too.
Salka Posted January 30, 2009 But since I did it online there was no option to give money or bank details, so do they send an invoice or what?
Nachimir Posted January 30, 2009 No, the site should tell you how much tax you owe at the end of filling in your return online, and then you just just pay them. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payinghmrc/selfassessment.htm#4 Just to be super dicks, they have two accounts and you have to pay in to the right one. The payment slip you'll have got with your final reminder should have a sort code and account number corresponding to the right office.

nonamermcgee Posted February 4, 2009 Did mine last week. The government had a ton of my money for some reason. At least I'm getting it back. They got an interest free loan from the bank of timaste.
Banks Posted February 5, 2009 wow, I'm horribly jealous. I'm still waiting on a lot of my tax forms to come in
