toblix Posted February 10, 2007 So, riding the Zelda 2D train, my next stop is Oracle of Ages, which appears to run on the same engine as Link's Awakening, only with some more stuff (rings, seeds, etc.) and large scrolling rooms (not sure how I feel about those). I tried drawing a map as I traveled around this time, and I feel I'm getting more immersed and fun-having. How similar to this is Oracle of Seasons? Is it the same map only with more fighting, or is everything new?
Moosferatu Posted February 10, 2007 Oracle of Ages kicks ass. Superb dungeon design. Oracle of Seasons is also awesome, though slightly less so. It's a completely different game than Ages, apart from the usual Zelda stuff, the rings, and the ability to connect the stories. Seasons is more straight forward with less puzzles and more fighting. eljay Posted February 10, 2007 Well the entire world is quite different, but the two games have similarities and references to each other, also they tie together as one overall story. I can happily recommend playing through both games, capcom did a fine job with the franchise! (shame they couldn't pull off the three way connection thing)
toblix Posted March 4, 2007 I'm enjoying Oracle of Ages, especially the part where I don't feel like there's a million optional side-quests to do that I never get to know about. Maybe it's just that I don't get to know about them. Anyway, my enjoyment is starting to wane like so much shit with this Jabu-Jabu's belly business, with the flushing and the fucking annoying swimming back and forth. The map can suck my cock. I think I'll have to start drawing up my own dungeon maps too. Also, I think playing all the Zelda games in sequence is a bad idea. Sometimes I wish I was not playing a Zelda game. Aussie Ben Posted March 4, 2007 You see, this is why Nintendo fans are dumb. "We need another Zelda game! ALL THE TIME! WE SHOULD HAVE ONE EACH YEAR!" No you SHOULDN'T. Then it becomes less special and more like the experience Toblix is having here. Also, I can totally empathise with the Jabu Jabu level - I HATE the levels like that. "Oh of course I can reach that! Oh no wait I can't the water's not at the right level! DIE!" In summary, I'm glad you're enjoying it, but if you're getting the feeling that you wish you weren't playing a Zelda game, stop playing. It will become less fun when the realisation that it IS a Zelda game sinks in. Go play something completely different, like Uno with three other people. Sesame Street Uno if you can get it. That Grouch card is wonderful. Oh, dear, there goes that topic again, I'm sorry.
toblix Posted March 4, 2007 I found out why I felt that fellating me was the proper course of action for Jabu-Jabu's belly. There was one of those key-blocks, and since unlocking it seemed impossible while swimming I assumed I had to get back to it after draining the level. I later found that to be impossible, of course, and it became clear that unlocking submerged key-blocks isn't impossible, it's just difficuly. I have to fuck the key-block, it seems, for it to dissolve. So now I'm back on track. Still hating the dungeon, but at least I got a longer switch-shot (or whatever) now. BigJKO Posted March 5, 2007 Jabu Jabu's belly returns in Ages? Man, I'm never playing that game.
Aussie Ben Posted March 5, 2007 It does have the switch hook though. And the villain is really cool. But yeah. Jabu-Jabu does heavily tip the scales in the negative.
Roderick Posted March 5, 2007 Jabu Jabu was the tipping point (I make you proud, don't I, Marek?) where I let Ocarina of Time rest for a few months before resuming it again. It was a tough dungeon, but now that I look at it again; fun nonetheless. I should play Ocarina again soon.
Moosferatu Posted March 5, 2007 I don't get why people are always complaining about Jabu Jabu's Belly. It's small and super easy.
toblix Posted March 5, 2007 So, is there like a Jabu-Jabu's Belly dungeon in every Zelda game?

miffy495 Posted March 6, 2007 I liked Jabu Jabu in Ocarina. Nowhere near as frustrating as the Water Temple. And I was 10 years old and playing my first Zelda game when I beat it. I didn't know the techniques yet and I still loved it. Maybe it was the idea of being swallowed by something and fighting your way out, dunno. It never even registered as a potential "thank god that's over" dungeon.
