Interplay is dead?

Well, according to No mutants allowed they don't have any offices anymore. So I'd say they're pretty dead, don you think? The guys that brought you most gaming classics such as baldurs gate, M.A.X., descent 1 2 3, freespace, fallout and a boatload of other classic titles seems to be biting the dust.

It seems that Human Resources told the employees to file for unemployment, Herve and Eric are no where to be found...

GameSpot recently called them up and they got an answering machine, leading them to file the rumors of the closure under "bogus". As your link shows that was a bit of a quick assumption.

Interplay are certainly in deep financial trouble, but they're not down and out just yet. Having said that, a buy-out in the not-too-distant future wouldn't surpise me one bit.

This month's PC Zone says Interplay have said Fallout 3 and Kingpin 2 will definitely be published eventually...

This is true, but it could equally be the we're-up-against-the-wall-and-desperately-trying-to-hang-in-here marketing speech. How often have companies gone bust after making positive statements like this. If this is a positive statement. Two sequels, and only one was a good game originally...
