lailoken Posted May 10, 2005 Just catching episode ten of season two of Deadwood, never heard about it before. Sure seems to be full of some interesting actors, but what the hell is going on with the language! Man, is that how people were supposed to talk in those days! WTF! Dingo Chavez Posted May 10, 2005 HBO is hardcore! That's why. The show never really appealed to me, I find it to be Oz set in the wild west (but it's definitely better than Oz, Oz was like a violent soap-oprah). The funny part is; half of the characters can't read yet they utter words like "capricious" (the only time I heard someone saying the word capricious other than Deadwood is in one of the court scenes in The Aviator) and "plenipotentiary" (they probably never said it, but still). You should see the comedy in it and not the historical inaccuracy.
lailoken Posted May 11, 2005 well, to me the best part is, that they have all these GREAT (serious dude) actors in it, and they all use this pseudo-shakespearean english and every three seconds someone will say FUCK, no real swearing, just fuck every once in a while! it's hillarious and a bit frightening... MrChlorophyll Posted May 11, 2005 Isn't that what we do here?
lailoken Posted May 11, 2005 yeah. see but in those times the word would have been much more of a big no-no and to me what they are trying to imply by using it constantly is just how fucked up a place deadwood is. cause all the bad people there say fuck a lot. but that's all they do, where is the nicely interjected cunt or dick...hmmm no just really bad... i got a headache trying to follow the plot, something that never happened to me before...
