Salka Posted April 5, 2005 I guess that sometimes, because we use the internet so much, most of us have become used to the tragic level of stupidity to be found online. My Dad decided to try ripping my Duran Duran album onto his PC, convinced I was just too dumb and was missing something. He didn't get any further than I had, but he searched for a solution online. "Found it!" he exclaimed happily. "Here's somebody with the same problem! Let's see... aha! This guy says, 'simply rename the file, giving it an .MP3 extension instead of the sony extension, and it will play fine!' Ha ha!" "That sounds too simple." I said dubiously. "Oh, yeah, wait... here's another guy. He says..." My Dad leaned closer to the monitor and squinted his eyes, " 'U R stupid'. Although he doesn't offer any explanation as to why... ah, here's some more... 'When will people learn to stop buying Microsoft to... put... on their... stupid... craputers...'." And, honest to God, as he said 'craputers', he backed away slowly from the monitor without taking his eyes from that last word. I think we have become desensitized to the level of stupidity prevalent online.

MrChlorophyll Posted April 6, 2005 Internet stupidity is a very large reason I love this site so much. The people here, myself excluded of course, are really quite intelligent as far as I can tell. But I'm a college student and an internet go-er. On the whole, those are the two kinds of people I hold just above deep-fried cabbage in terms of cognitive ability. So I view myself as part of the problem and should just shut up for the common good, I suppose. But the rest of you guys? Cracker Jack material. I'm proud of ya.
