The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite
Orv replied to Sean's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I've had two games today. One was an incredible game on both sides where-in my burning lust for Clockwerk BIG PLAYS was rekindled. I caught a QoP on the other end of her blinking away from a gank and managed to stun and cog their entire team. The other basically went like this. (Blanked out second to last panel because it's a bit eugh.) -
I'm not sure whether to be very worried or very happy that I can hear this in his voice perfectly.

Meet the Pyro - The last of the meet the team videos
Orv replied to ysbreker's topic in Video Gaming
I went through, I think, four phases of TF2. An initial period when it came out where I played it a bit but was never enthralled. At some point, about a year and a half before free to play, I sunk 300+ hours into it (oh gods). Then it was just two periods of slowly decreasing seriousness in play. The first one I still played but didn't care about winning or anything, and then the second was just a long stint on duel maps where I'd just chill and talk to people while happening to be in a video game. Still, 427 hours of a game is not insignificant (though it pales in comparison to people out there), and I hope some day I can rekindle that fire that had me spying for hours a day. Because it really is a wonderful game, so some day, hopefully. Unfortunately, perhaps my last thought of Team Fortress 2 will be that haun- DO YOU BELIVE IN MAGIC, IN A YOUNG GIRLS HEART. Aaaaaaaaaargh. -
Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

I'm sorry, however you coat it, grown men liking a childrens show to the extent that (some) bronies do is not alright. There's appreciating something for its "artistic merit" and then it just gets creepy. -
Guess how much I hate you right now. It's much less than I envy you, yet still considerable. Nice going! When will you be appearing on QI?

Civs 1-4 had PBEM. SMAC also does, and is fantastic for it. The Age of Wonders series has decent PBEM, as does pretty much any TBS game in the late 90s early 2000s. E: Here's the PBEM client for Civ 5, if you're interested. Works fine, just the client start-up and shutdown for each turn. http://multiplayerrobot.com/
-
It doesn't have native PBEM, no. There's an application for it, but it boots and shuts down the client for each of your turns, and as such wouldn't be what we want to do for the 2 or 3 hours a week format we're intending here.

It's Springtime, for Hitler, and Germany! Never get tired of that movie. Somebody else's life is flashing before my eyes!

I just mean they're easy enough to ignore if you want to, but a few episodes definitely go "Communism is bad!" or what have you. I'm into Star Trek for either the B-level camp (TOS) or the terrible, over-the-top drama (the rest of it) but TOS is definitely heavily politically driven. Hell, even in TNG/DS9 you can still see Roddenberry's politics influencing plot points for certain races.

SMNC added auto-aim... on a PC only game.
-
I believe it is cellos, and yeah, they do sound great.
-
Super Monday Night Combat is terrible however, where SMITE is basically LoL in third person. It's actually quite good.
-
Could be, but keep in mind these forums update all your old posts with your new avatar.

Picked it up. Per usual I'm available basically whenever with a few days notice.

I'm going to steal this from Scott Lynch because it adequately describes the terrible fucking day I've had attempting to assemble a pool, several tables and what seems to be a portal to Gael'thoth, but I'm assured is actually a washing machine. TO THE MAN WHO DESIGNED THE TABLE I JUST ASSEMBLED Oh, it's death for you, my boy but not for a good long time. An elastic interval, shall we say, between points A and B where B is the furnace, and A a fine assortment of power tools. Yes, we're going to have some words, you and I Though whether they'll come before or after the piranha is an open question. I like to give my whims room to breathe. See, I never understood how events might conspire to make a supervillain but congratulations! I’m fresh from the forge. With hex wrench imprints on nine fingers. In fact, if I ever see another piece of lacquered particleboard ever again I'm going to punch a baby dolphin to death. Yes. And take the corpse to a childrens' hospital. And give it to a kid hooked up to a dialysis machine. Because it's not like he'll be able to run away. Not easily. By the way, when I said piranha you thought I meant tank? I meant solution. Seems I spent my aquatic horror budget on the blue-ringed octopus. Expensive! You wouldn't think you could slip such a thing through customs (and honestly you're not supposed to) but have you ever read Bruce Schneier's blog? Edifying stuff. Anyhow, pay attention now As this concerns you: My Allen Wrenches have just come white-orange off the fire and tied up like that, you look like a table. So much like a table. In very serious need of tightening.

Alright, if it's at least somewhat stable, which means it works at all compared to vanilla Civ 5 MP, I'll pick it up and be ready whenever.
-
Does God and Kings fix the fact that Civ 5 multiplayer tends to break in wonderful ways if you're on a particularly large map with more than a few civs/city-states? If it does I'd be willing to pick it up and play, since I don't think I'd get enough use out of G&K single-player.
-
If that wasn't your intent then it's mostly me being annoyed over nothing, it just felt very "Here's the way it is, thanks for coming!" It's mostly a reaction based on other, ideals/groups that I've been involved with that slowly imploded over stupid things. Don't worry about it, I'll just stay out of this I think, since I feel like it's just the same conversation we've been having for... 10 months. (Also mildly miffed about getting talked out of the thread, but that's my neurosis, so.)
-
If you'd like to get informed about it? Look, I quietly stepped out when people so generously suggested that if I don't want to post in this thread, I don't have to, but this is getting to be a bit much. I didn't want this thread to continue because I'm pretty sure we've all come to the conclusion that we think feminism is a good thing because society is pretty terrible at the moment. (See: MRA) This thread is just turning into "Sal Heavily-Handedly Informs Everyone About How It Is As We Rehash The Same Discussion Every Week" and I don't think we need that. I'm all for getting informed, and in fact, thanks to this thread, I have been, but it's going places it shouldn't.

Best moment I've had with Rubick so far was having a Tidehunter ult on hand, ulting the enemy team and then stealing QoPs ult from her to finish them off. Pulling Juggernaut into the tower after he Omnislashes me and returning the favor was a close second. As someone said though "I wish Rubick could steal their good players." -
Tech is also good for selling for actual money. Russian (and everyone but Goonswarm really) alliance leaders, I'm looking at you. Note: Highly illegal.

I hate to say this Tobacco, but you're doing it wrong. Make a Minmatar character, train a set of skills that'll take you about a day, do missions in the meantime for a cash surplus and the free Rifter. Then go out to lowsec and get yourself killed. If frigate combat doesn't grab you, I don't know what to tell you.
-
Are you a miner and if so where do you keep your Hulk? If not, are you willing to fly a ridiculously expensive ship through Deklein so I can blow it up?
-
It controls really poorly, the aim feels slippery, but otherwise it's a cool concept.
