  1. Idle Thumbs 131: Real Life

    You're welcome hipster.
  2. Idle Thumbs 131: Real Life

    Yes, yes, and yes.
  3. Super Mario 3D World

If they're going to have Wario, they have to have Waluigi. After all, if this is the Year of Luigi, his doppelganger should also make an appearance. I have no idea what his unique ability would be though.
  4. Nintendo 3DS

How long until that gets scrapped like Swapnote because it's full of penes and dirty messages?
  5. Licenses That Demand A Game

A Majora's Mask mod where I could play as Bill Murray would probably be the thing that gets me to actually finish that game. Also the fairy should be the groundhog.
  6. Super Mario 3D World

Yeah, it's weird that on the eve of 2 new consoles launching, the one I want the most is the one that launched last year.
  7. Intoxicated:

During college my friends and I used to play Warioware drinking games on the Wii. The combination of short minigames, absurd poses, and general drunkeness was amusing to no end. Just make sure you don't have anything valuable in the area.
  8. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

I like the way Link takes a second to look at things as he spins out of control (the flower spot and the girl whose name I forget).
  9. Board Games?

I've always known that auctioning property was in the rules, but I've never done it outside of the video game versions of Monopoly where you're forced to.
  10. Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies

Dual Destinies has characters that were introduced in previous games, so you'll miss some of the details and a certain level of familiarity by starting with this game, but nothing of critical importance. You get a general summary of what you need to know about everyone so that you can get by without much confusion. As far as the games go, I still think Apollo Justice is the best, but Dual Destinies isn't a terrible place to start.
  11. Recently completed video games

Just finished up the last case for Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies. Pretty good overall, but with a couple of minor exceptions it seemed a lot easier than the rest of the series. Evidence seemed a bit more obvious than before and they really lead you directly to the answer more than once. The 3D effect looks pretty good on the game, although I turned it off after a while. I also wasn't completely satisfied by the conclusion. I think Apollo Justice is my favorite game in the series but this wasn't bad either.
  12. Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies

I finished the game today. The fourth case is pretty short. It's really just a setup for the fifth case, which was NUTS. It's got all kinds of things like I wasn't particularly pleased with the final conclusion though. Seemed kind of contrived. Well, more contrived than I would have liked anyway. Also, Phoenix's phone still uses the Steel Samurai theme ringtone. That made me happy.
  13. Board Games?

What Gormongous said. I don't play many board games either so the only one I can really vouch for personally is Ticket to Ride. It's easy to learn but a lot of fun. I would recommend getting one of the later versions of the game like Ticket to Ride Europe. They add additional mechanics without making the game super complicated. If you want to see some of these games in action and be entertained in the process, I'd recommend watching . It's a series hosted by Wesley Crusher Wil Wheaton where he plays board games with various other geek personalities. They also do a pretty good job of explaining the rules.
  14. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

This is maybe a dumb question that's been asked and answered before, but is there a way to gift a game on the eShop besides just getting a prepaid card and giving them the code? And is there a way to give funds without a card? Can I just pay Nintendo some money and get a code without needing to buy a useless physical card?
  15. Licenses That Demand A Game

I was actually thinking the same thing. There is a Dresden Files pen and paper RPG game that could maybe be adapted into a video game.
  16. Life

Happy Birthday Teg! Pretend Sewaddle arrived today like I originally meant it to.
  17. I don't know what's real anymore!
  18. I didn't even notice it wasn't (Space) Games until you said that.
  19. Life

Yeah the reason I choose the plan I have is that there's no premium, so if I don't need to see the doctor for anything at all, I pay nothing. The next plan has a lower deductible, but if you add in the cost of the premium, I'd only end up saving a few hundred dollars. For that amount I'll take the chance of not needing to see the doctor at all and pay nothing.
  20. Life

I wasn't going to get into it that much but yeah, shit's complicated. Another way your plan is better than mine, our company doesn't do HSA contributions at all.
  21. Life

The deductible is the amount you have to pay before insurance will cover anything. So if I have $6000 worth of medical expenses, I have to pay the first $5000 with my own money, then insurance will cover 80% of the remaining $1000, assuming the doctor or whoever is in my healthcare network. This means my total costs are $5200. In Zeus' case, he would have to pay $4200 under those same conditions. The one nice thing about my plan (and Zeus' too it would seem) is the Health Savings Account (HSA), which is basically a savings account that can only be used for medical expenses. The good part of an HSA is the money that's put into it isn't taxed and can be carried over from year to year or from plan to plan in most cases. Edit: Looks like Dewar be me to an answer by a few seconds.
  22. Life

I was wondering what happened to you Zeus. Sorry to hear all that stuff but if it makes you feel any better, I think your plan is better than mine. My plan has a $5000 deductible with an $11,000 out of pocket max and only 80% coverage in-network.
  23. Learning Languages from Games

I think an older episode of the cast included something about someone (possibly Bronstring Marek Bronstring) learning English by playing Lucasarts adventure games. Something about the game helping him learn how to conjugate verbs.
  24. Life

I get to sleep during the night tonight! It's depressing how exciting that is!
  25. I Had A Random Thought...

Have I got a game for you. It's called Halo. I'm really more of a Dyson sphere man myself.
