  1. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

Don't send any candy, that's my schtick! But seriously, I'll see how much I can donate towards this.
  2. I mostly agree with that. I liked certain parts of Tuvix, although I was hoping for some kind of long term repercussions for Janeway. I also recognize the same things about Future's End, but I found it largely ridiculous. One and Someone to Watch Over Me I liked a lot as well. I thought One Small Step was good, but kind of misplaced. Robert Beltran (Chakotay) was pretty outspoken during the show's run about how he wasn't satisfied with a lot of the things the writers did with his character. In the case of that episode, I agree with him. On another note, I've started watching DS9 again. I'm mostly following Gormongous' list (feels weird to be on the other side of the list thing) and I have to say I'm enjoying the show a lot more this time around. The themes are larger and more complex, something I recognized when I first saw the show but just didn't care for at the time. Not to say that TNG and Voyager are simple by any means. Voyager seems more focused on individual, personal themes while DS9 is more social, worldly themes. TNG is a mix.
  3. Return of the Steam Box!

In a way I sometimes think of the Steam overlay as a second screen because it lets me check Steam messages or quickly search for something on the web without having to alt-tab away. I would think that stuff like the messages could work well on a touch screen.

Lord Chris Remo's Wikipedia page is the best thing.

  8. A game where...

The first thing I can think of is Phoenix Wright in Marvel vs Capcom. One of his moves is hitting the opponent with his Objection! word bubble.
  9. Spelunky!

Is the daily challenge the same for all platforms, or does each receive it's own seed? Like could you use the Vita one as a sort of scouting mission for a real run on the PC?
  10. I Had A Random Thought...

Has anyone else ever ascribed a level a sentience to a game? It's probably because of the increasing number of rougelikes I've been playing but I feel like I've gone from just saying stuff like "This game hates me" to actually believing it.
  11. Rogue Legacy

A controller will significantly improve your ability to play, but I would say that a controller isn't worth it for a single game even if that game is Rogue Legacy. However, like Rodi and elmuerte said, there's an increasing number of PC games either designed with a controller in mind or just work better with one. I bought someone a wired Xbox controller for Christmas last year and she's told me that it ended up being a great gift because it let her go back and replay previously unplayable games.
  12. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I ironically forgot he was there until you mentioned him.
  13. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I was hoping the final boss would be the Christmas Duck.
  14. Intoxication in Video Games

That rejected sequence later became the basis for Psychonauts
  15. Intoxication in Video Games

Full Throttle was originally going to include a sequence where Ben takes a peyote induced hallucinogenic trip.
  16. Return of the Steam Box!

The Nostromo is actually what I'm currently using. I like it a lot. The one complaint I have is that it needs another row of keys, something the newer Orbweaver model has. As for the controller redesign, I've said it many times in this thread but I generally dislike having a ton of face buttons. I was hoping the touchscreen would help that some. Oh well.
  17. Return of the Steam Box!

I have for some games. Most of the time if the game itself lets me rebind keys I'll use that, but if not then being able to remap keys myself is useful. One particular example I can think of it Torchlight. You can assign abilities to the hotbar which is tied to the number keys. Since I'm not used to hitting 7-0 with my left hand, I find it very convenient to be able to just assign the numbers to keys that were close together. Most of my gaming these days is done with a gaming keypad instead of a full keyboard though. I reassign keys on that thing all the time.

  19. I will have to find some 3D printed candy for the next candy package I send. I wonder if they print Nerds Rope.
  20. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Just finished Act 1. Can't wait for Act 2. Also found out if you type during the credits, you can search for a name in the list of backers.

  22. Does this mean the digital package is nearing completion as well? Also I am excited. This will be my first vinyl ever.
  23. It's a joke both for the audience to laugh at and some self referential humor at the silly gibberish the writers are forced to come up with. Despite (or perhaps because of) how goofy it all is I like the technobabble. Voyager has a ton of it, which is probably one of the reasons I liked the show more than most. It also contains what is considered by many to be one of the worst and most scientifically flawed episodes of any Star Trek series, Threshold. It involves the Tom Paris breaking the Warp 10 barrier and hyper evolving into a lizard like creature and has this bit of dialogue: "Maybe we've been looking in the wrong place. What if the nacelles aren't being torn from the ship; what if the ship is being torn from the nacelles?" "The hull of the shuttle is made of tritanium alloy. At the speeds we're talking about, that alloy could depolarize..." "And create a velocity differential! The fuselage would be traveling at a faster rate of speed than the nacelles!" "That means we just have to set up a depolarization matrix around the fuselage!" Of course, a depolarization matrix around the tritanium alloy to prevent a velocity differential! It's so obvious!
  24. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I finished Vella's portion. I'm finding this game really charming and I'm enjoying just sitting back and taking everything in. I'm rarely using the double click or skipping cutscenes, even ones I've seen before.
  25. Oh it makes absolutely no sense, but it's what Data actually says. My favorite bit of technobabble is the thing that makes the transporter work, the Heisenberg Compensator. And then there's this gem from the Rascals episode:
