Oh I'm familiar with the process of mashing a potato, I just have never done it. I honestly don't have much desire to do so, either.
-
Oh no don't say that. He's like my favorite person. ): Ohhh.

I've never made instant potatoes or mashed potatoes. I've made a baked potato, though?

And she has a nice little harem, too!

Idle Thumbs 195: Business Guys On Planes
Twig replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
FWIW (probably not much), I pretty much completely agree with Chris. Although there's a sort of weird turn-around about five years AFTER the games age too much, where it starts to appeal to me again. Almost certainly purely out of nostalgia. Like go back in time a few years and ask me how I feel about those early N64/PS1 days and I'll say something like, it's disgusting and I never want to see it again. But today I sort of like/love/appreciate that low-poly look, and I want to see more games experiment with it. Basically how I felt about pixel art ten years ago. Though 3D stuff does age way worse than 2D stuff, I think. (I'm sure some people would disagree.) Especially because a lot of 3D games try much harder for realism. I don't know if I'll have the same nostalgia for, say, a PS2 "realistic" game that I have for a PS1 "realistic" game. -
You'd get a cheaper price on upgrading it to the Wii U version, though, right? I think that's how it works.

I never even beat the first level in Jamestown. Also when I say I liked it that means I was able to play it for more than five minutes before getting bored. Also Drunken Robot Pornography is sorta like a first-person bullet-hell game so maybe that counts, too.
-
I hate shmups but this looks like maybe it'll be wrapped in something that will make it fun. Kinda like Jamestown['s music].

Oh wait I just remembered I did actually do a self-imposed challenge once that was uninspired by any meta-game mechanics (e.g., those Rainbow Vs). A no-guns run in Mirror's Edge. I didn't even play it with guns before deciding to do this, I just knew it was possible, and so I never shot a bullet (except that one dumb moment when you fire a sniper rifle at a car's tires or whatever). That game is so fucking good.

I don't overuse anything!

don't worry you can buy those too, for a significant markup, plus international shipping!

Sometimes I use way more than one in a sentence!!!!!!
-
I definitely use too many exclamation points! I once had someone call me out on it. I use them sort of to say "I don't want this to come off too disinterested, so have some excitement in your life!" I don't think it works very well!

I got all Rainbow V ratings in Viewtiful Joe, but... I guess that's not really a self-imposed challenge, as that's sort of built in. But I felt really fucking boss after doing is, so WHATEVER.

My biggest concern is just Shia. I've said I loved him I Crystal Skull, and I do, but I'm not convinced he could carry an Indy type movie as the lead. Maybe if he had his own Short Round, though... U: -

I legit want this. Although, I don't know if I actually do. But I'm pretty sure I do. Yeah I do. OR: Do I? -
The most important thing about this whole argument, to me, is that it only takes one (1) run where you get that item to learn that it's something you don't want. And because it's something that [you think] sucks, you'll die very quickly. And runs don't last all that long, unless you're near the end of a chest run, or whatever game, at which point you'll already have learned to avoid that item, or even to pick it up because you've learned what situations it's good in. Like, really, what's the longest run you had ruined by picking up a "bad" item? Half an hour at most, unless you're really slow, right? That's a pretty insignificant amount of time in a video game where when you die you start over, anyway. If it's longer than that, you've probably already beaten Mom enough times to unlock the next area. And at that point, you've developed enough Mechanical Skill at the game to compensate and learn how to adjust for that item.

Coffee meets bagel is, as far as I know, very explicitly for dating. I don't remember seeing anything about an option to only look for friends. I have so far only had relatively casual conversations, but I am by no means a dating expert. Farthest from it, in fact. Soooo yeah? ... Hang in there megaspel. ):

So he's Starlord, Jurassic Park Dude, and now maybe Indiana Jones? Yeah all right sure, bring it on. -
All the dating talk generally just gets dumped into this mega-whatever thread, as far as I know, hah.

Honestly I find her kind of annoying everywhere. Lately, I've been going back and forth between unfollowing her on Twitter, or not doing so. But as annoying as I can find her, I also respect her a lot. Anyway, that's pretty much the number one reason I haven't yet given Isometric a shot. It's on my list and I'll get to it some day, but... Ehhhh.

Yes! It was you!

Oh man I thought work this week was going to suck major butt but it turns out I'm amazing and fixed the blocker bug and then suddenly everything's falling into place super quickly. Go me! Also we were talking about dating sites/apps for so long and I forgot to mention for some reason that I tried out a new app called Coffee Meets Bagel. Basically it gives you one match every 24 hours (although you can ask for more by paying with "beans", which you earn by talking to people or by buying with real money - it doesn't really explain how it works for the person you've requested, though...). So, yeah, one every 24 hours. Basically the complete opposite of how Tinder works, in terms of volume. Like Tinder, however, it only lets you talk if you both like each other. Anyway, the slower pace works a lot better for me, personally, and I get a lot more matches through this thing than I ever did in Tinder (i.e., zero), even after going through thousands of potential matches, swiping right for all of them. I've only had like two weeks (14-ish) of "bagels", and have five matches. Ratio of like-to-match is WAY higher here! Some of them still don't respond, but at least it's something. I've had a few days' worth of good conversation with one person, which is more than I can say for anything else I've used. Now I just need to actually ask someone out for coffee I guess. Hopefully I'll actually do it because I am a coward. U: EDIT: What I'm saying is life is pretty Not Bad at this particular moment!
