  1. Digger, and I say this honestly as nicely as I can: life’s too short, friend. Watch something else if you don’t enjoy this. I did that with Breaking Bad - watched a season and a half, hated all of it, and have been much happier knowing I never have to watch it again.
  2. Unless, of course, she went to Gordon about it and was told to Quiet Down, Dear. I'm not saying it's a theory I'm 100% sure on myself, but it's still possible.
  3. Hello! I suppose I am making a Twine game for this Wizard Jam 5. I've experimented (for perhaps a total of five minutes) before with Twine, and honestly have no memory as to how any of it works. But: it has genuinely been a goal of mine recently to make a Twine game, and this Wizard Jam seems to provide a pretty good excuse! I have 0 experience in making video games, a little writing history, and nothing really bar the name of the game as it stands. Looking at, for example, @SeanMay's dev log and I'm liek OH SHIT people take this stuff seriously and put real planning into this. Don't get me wrong, I am amazed, in awe, astounded by the hard work of everyone else; for me, I guess I just don't know where or how to start. I also find recently that due to my own personal depressive tendencies, my will, or attention span, or general desire to do things is somewhat limited. BUT I do know that this is a little life goal, so I guess we'll see how it goes. The Game is going to be a post-modern (barf) game, hopefully in the vein of If On A Winter's Night A Traveller. The book is one of my favourites (above The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, below The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay) but it has been some time since I read the book, so I'm really basing it on my memories of said book, rather than the book itself. I plan to employ some of the tricks used by the book (but more explicitly than the book itself) and see where it goes!
  4. [Dev Log] If On A Winter's Night A Gamer

So! Much like my earlier prediction, I have found keeping going on this a real struggle. However, I am continuing to keep it open and add a few options each time. I've got my introduction complete, I think, and am currently working on the first story. This one is based on the idea of Hoisted! and every option the player chooses backfires in some slight way; this is turning out to be very difficult to account for, so I don't know how long it will be -- but I know how I want to end it, before starting the next one. That'll be based on the idea of having a single Verb - I'm thinking 'Look at X', and have you play a diver looking at a wrecked ship. Past that, I don't know!
  5. Guys, the New Poo story... is a joke by British comedian Jack Whitehall. I'm so sorry.
  6. [Dev Log] If On A Winter's Night A Gamer

Writing all these options, and I'm beginning to quickly understand why companies like TellTale give the illusion of choice leading to the same narrative branches lol.
  7. [Dev Log] If On A Winter's Night A Gamer

In the style of IOAWNAT, I'm going to incorporate each of the Diversifiers into their own section of the game. Pretty excited by what's going on so far, to be honest!
  8. [Dev Log] If On A Winter's Night A Gamer

Haha, see this is my trouble - what might I need those languages for? I'm honestly clueless!
  9. WIZARD JAM 5 // Welcome Thread

This is going to be my first Wizard Jam - first up I guess I have to choose a game name!
  10. WIZARD JAM 5 // Welcome Thread

I'm really excited because I would like to take part this time. I have no skills whatsoever, so Twine will be my thing I think. Is that okay/allowed?
  11. Yes! I really want to try and partake this time in a dumb Twine game!!
  12. Yeah, I thought that immediately as well. The thing I find pretty interesting here, that Jake and Chris touched on in the Episode 2 podcast, is how Bad Coop is acting, and how BOB would have acted had we ever seen him speak. But there is a chance to hear that! It's in the European pilot, at the very end, we see BOB cornered by Harry, Dale and Mike. I know it's not canonical (if you've seen it, that's pretty self-explanatory) but it is still pretty interesting to see an idea of this spirit, this killer, that Lynch/Frost must have conceived originally. And, to be honest, I find it far more effective than the BOB we do see in the show; I like BOB as this visceral, emotional representation of evil as opposed to some regular serial killer. I think it also relates to another thing chris and Jake talked about - Lynch's two sensibilities: whenever it's a weird, grainy, almost comical film effect, I think it's not meant to signify much, if anything - I think it's purely to achieve some kind of audience gut reaction; whenever it's a good, well-done effect, that's when it's meaningful in some way.
  13. Out of curiosity, what do people think will be especially pertinent from the last week of Laura Palmer's life? I reckon the Chalfonts, and Leland's line "I always thought you knew it was me" are important, but past that??? Oh, and the ring I guess...
  14. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

holy shit that is actually amazing
  15. Life

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh congratulations Jennarrrrrrr I'm super happy for you both!
  16. On the advice of @Chris and @Argobot last year, I went to visit Snoqualmie (the town where some shots are filmed) and the Double R Diner and it was extremely cool. Also, the lady who works in the diner said she believed that Bobby would be the new Sheriff in town, so there's some EXCLUSIVE CONTENT. That may be false, who knows.
  17. Owlboy!

This is part of the latest Humble Indie bundle: is it worth picking up, friends?
  18. Alan Wake

I rebought this because of the 90% discount and gotta say I still reaaaaally dig this video game.
  19. The McElroy Family of Products

I've kinda gotten to the point lately where I think that Griffin's 30 Under 30 status may have actually gotten to his head a little bit? I feel like the McElroy stuff has slowly been getting more self-indulgent, with he as chief perpetrator, and I've had to stop listening to Rose Buddies as a result. His whiny goof-voice just annoys me now. I think it's also possible that I did what I did with Travis, and just over-exposed myself to their shows, so I've cut back to just Adventure Zone and MBMBAM (although I agree that TAZ is frustrating in regards to its obviously-narratively-scripted nature).
  20. Idle Thumbs: A Patreon

    I hope so!
  21. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

So excited to play this when my joycon gets back!!
  22. Yeah jeez i don't think I'd have got it if it weren't for your help. Thanks Jenn!!
