  1. I'm not sure you can even buy the triple-pack in Europe so the only way to obtain the squid was to preorder the special edition of the game which came with it (and not the other two). It's a pretty dirty trick, I hope they don't go further down this route given that it unlocks a bit more content than a lot of the others did. Anyway I've imported the pack because I'm weak and stupid and if I come to regret it at least I can retire by eBaying them.
  2. Splatoon is Ink-redible

Cool, thanks! I note Japan gets the squid on its own whereas Europe didn't and I'm placing an import order anyway but I'll save myself the £15 I think.
  3. Nintendo Network ID Exchange Thread

NNID - Yasawas Hey let's play Mario Kart, I like that one. Also Splatoon.
  4. Splatoon is Ink-redible

I've heard grumblings that the Amiibo actually unlock useful things in this, is there any truth in that?
  5. Splatoon is Ink-redible

I can withstand hype for games like The Witcher and Destiny but I am weak to unrelenting Twitter positivity for Nintendo things and this has broken me despite me thinking the testfire event they had looked a bit limited. It's cheap and I'm in, should be here tomorrow.
  6. Nintendo 3DS

If this is what it takes for a Chibi Robo Amiibo to exist that I can sit on my desk to make every soul-crushing day at work that bit more cheery then so be it.
  7. Nintendo 3DS

Lads, there's a Monster Hunter spinoff made in conjunction with From Software and it's mental looking but not how you'd think: I almost exploded when it kicked off with the company logos and then it started and I was confused and I still don't really know what I feel but I think I like it.
  8. Thanks! No wonder I didn't find that first one, I went down there once on my first playthrough and didn't really have a fun time.
  9. PL4YST4TION 4

Nobody buy Ultra Street Fighter IV whatever you do. It's my favourite game! I was so excited for it. I believed their lies about this being the definitive version and when they announced last Friday that PS3 sticks would be supported I was absurdly happy I was going to be saved having to spend another £100+ to play it even though I would've. And then it came out. The first thing you notice is how the menus take a second or two to respond to any imput which is weird but start playing the game and things get weirder. It's absolute trash. Hitboxes are off, the properties of moves are off, it somehow looks uglier than any other version of the game (check out that plane in the background of the airfield stage) and despite their claims it would fix the timing problems the PS3 version had it actually has more frames of input lag than any other version of SFIV. Just worthless. I bought Driveclub at launch too, when will I learn!
  10. I finished this with my STR (my first ever!) character yesterday, it was mostly fun. I think Forest of Fallen Giants and Shrine of Amana have been made worse but most of the rest of the revised placements and changes were really welcome, even down to little things like not requiring you to keep re-equipping the King's Ring to open a door you'd previously been through. I haven't touched the DLC but I'm going to take a wee break to play something else then come back to experience that for the first time, then NG+ for the platinum again. It's an odd game this - it feels dated already, a lot of the bosses are shit and it's remarkably ugly in places but it's still got something that draws me in. Spoiler tag this if required but I only found ways in to two of the DLC areas - the snow one and the first one they released. How do I obtain access to the other, I must've missed a key item somewhere.
  11. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Captain Toad is amazing, I had to ration it out over the festive period as I was worried about racing through it but there's a surprising amount of content there and there's some really ingenious level design within the limitations they've set as you'll discover if you make a point of going for the extra objectives. Nintendo first party stuff on the Wii U is a source of constant open-mouthed wonder to this grumpy old bastard. I bought Kirby yesterday and it's lovely and all but I'm conflicted by how much time it requires me to spend looking at the gamepad. The glimpses I get of it on my telly are stunning.
  12. I have a PS2 related dilemma.

Well it's an answer so thanks! I did look at that as well as that memory card hack they have now but I think I've talked myself out of both of them. I seem to remember from when friends were using it ten years ago that Swap Magic wasn't 100% compatible and shat the bed with dual-layered disc games like Shadow of the Colossus. Also not sure how it handles PS1 titles, it's a bit vague on that. The memory card hack sounded amazing and I got all excited but it seems to not play imports at all and is only good for piracy which is not my bag, I love collecting all them colourful boxes.
  13. I have a PS2 related dilemma.

Does anyone know if I can use the power supply of my UK model slim PS2 directly with a Japanese console? Either plugging the kettle lead into the power pack, or the power pack itself into the unit. That would save a bit of hassle and it would seem like it would've been easier to design the console to work that way so I'm quietly optimistic. Thinking about picking one up to get around the 50Hz issue and enjoy some dumb rhythm games I've missed on PS1 and PS2.
  14. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I just finished this and thought it was pretty fantastic. I was really wary of Act 2 as I'd enjoyed the first part - maybe a little bit too easy but I was enjoying just being in this obscenely pretty world, wandering about looking at things and taking in the story and the way some people were going on about it being a significant step up in difficulty put me off. This is my third adventure game ever after Monkey Island 1 and Grim Fandango and I expected it to be such a throwback I might not get it. In the end I only had to look two bits up that I thought were kind of weakly signalled and I would've got the second of those eventually if I'd had a little more patience and wasn't so concerned about having to redo the same sequence of events over and over after each failed attempt. Very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this overall, I only really backed this because I got caught up in the hype not being an adventure game guy at all and I've greatly disliked every other DoubleFine game I've played. Now I get to watch the documentary too, bonus! I watched the first few last weekend but I didn't want to see any hint of spoilers so I sacked it until I'd finished or given up. Really looking forward to seeing more of it.
  15. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I wasn't entirely convinced before but Arino has sold me on Mario Maker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHiKPtO3ls0
  16. PS Vita

I don't want to hype it up too much or anything but I genuinely believe that Virtue's Last Reward is the best game that isn't called Dark Souls or Resident Evil 4.
  17. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Playing this on PS4 so I'm not sure where the join is with the acts, is it the bit I've just done? - If so I'm glad I didn't bother playing my backer version as I did not see that coming and couldn't have waited over a year to continue it. I'm having a really bloody decent time with this. I wish I didn't need to have subtitles on as I keep wanting to take screenshots of it but they spoil it a bit, it's ludicrously beautiful.
  18. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

What does the combat play like in these games? I'm definitely interested in this but I felt the same about Oblivion/Skyrim/Dragon Age: Inquisition and the clumsy combat ruined those games for me. I'm not expecting Soulsesque levels of melee brilliance but if it's a bit more in that vein I might drop £40 on it.
  19. PS Vita

Disgaea 3 or 4! I'm really tempted to buy a Slim but unfortunately the regular Vita gave me hand cramp and I have issues with my hands that don't really need exacerbating as it is. Has anyone played both and noticed a difference?
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I'll be giving it a go, should be in for the second and third sessions. What a terrible idea. I am seemingly the only Nintendo enthusiast with zero interest in Splatoon so I'll be interested to see if this can sway me.
  21. Nice, is the patch out on everything do you know? I'm playing on PS4. Yeah! Invasions are fun when they're done right, the way the developer intended - two people fucking with one another. Some of the best fun I've had in the Souls series was halfway through my SL1 run when I had some fully upgraded weapons and a load of good equipment I would never get the stats for, so I used to invade in starting areas and wave to people. If they waved back they got a gift and I crystalled out, if they didn't wave or tried to attack they got one-shotted with a +15 pyro glove that did about 500 damage even if they blocked it.

I've only ever heard it as Shin Feign. What a weird feeling. Forces of darkness in power again but for the first time in my life the candidate I voted for actually won (34% swing!), and thousands of Scottish Labour voters finally turned their back on them. I wonder how it'll all pan out.
  23. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

OK, reprieve granted! Maybe I'm just disappointed relative to the insane level of hype around it on both releases. And I can always console myself with the fact that it's never actually cost me money as I sold my Wii copy for double what I paid for the Wii and 3DS version combined.
  24. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I think I hate Xenoblade Chronicles. After 2 hours I'm at the same point I spent six hours on the Wii getting to and not especially enjoying, in a cave on the first real story mission it sends you on. I find the combat confusing and I doubt the addition of more abilities is going to change it much - I might be weird but I love turn-based JRPG combat where you get to use a bit of strategy and take your time, this seems to be too far removed for me to get into. I thought I'd like the novelty of non-American English language voices but good grief they're irritating beyond belief. Also it does that thing where it gives you shitloads of loot after beating enemies and no clue if I can just sell it and buy a cool helmet or I'll regret it later and argh. Is there a recognised point where this becomes the best RPG of the 21st century or is it just going to underwhelm me for 80 hours if I let it?

94% aligned with Green apparently but also 92% SNP and The Sturge has my vote. This promises to be a train wreck whatever happens, I can't wait.
