Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

Well basically in 1.3, Villagers will be able to trade. What they trade for is random, and every time you make a trade with them, they level up. So if we keep things as they are now, it'll be really difficult to hunt down and find the villager you want. Or someone with max leveled trading will wander off and die. So you can build things like this: http://imgur.com/a/2pdxF to keep your villagers in. We were trying to find a place to put the market of involuntary tradesmen, and couldn't figure out the best place. The town square is too packed and will become crazy. The arc, killstar had other plans for. But after killstar and squids blimp build, I remembered we had talked about potentially creating a floating city at one point early in the server. Which would have allowed us to play a bit more with the vertical real-estate we have like this: So maybe the place to but the trading hub would be up in a floating platform at the hub of some more sky builds. I also really want to play around with some ender pearl jump platforms and elevators (now that a lot of them will work in SMP in 1.3). -

The server was pretty much lag free during the stream, so all the freezes were client side. They could have been network issues on the thumbs end as well, but given how well the stream held up I'm fairly certain it was just a shitty 32 bit java memory problem. So who's interested in starting operation skymall? -

Now people are saying within the month for 1.3, possibly as late as Aug 1st. -

The only thing I think is tarnishing the game for me right now is the paints. I enjoy the randomness of new items and weapons, and aside from a few exceptions I feel like the insanity masks any balance issues. But the paints... they just make decent items look awful. I really do enjoy logging on after months of inactivity and being surprised by the items everyone is carrying -
Portal definetly had alternate solutions. Completing challenge maps based on fewest portals was a great way to expose those. I'm convinced that my problem with the jump feel is tied to the pov being rediculously low.

Nope. No real reason to re-roll. Though if we do want to stake out new land, I recommend we go with the suggestion of moving the spawn point and just generating new terrain in the world created for the 7th epoc. Then we could have warp points between epochs. I feel like we've got a lot of space within the 7th to just continue building at that area though. Also we've created a pretty nice village for the new trading.

Sounds like 1.3 will be released next week.

Pretty sure that exists, or at least a mod certainly does.I think it's funny how fitting this old 4chan post was: And I have to completely disagree that the competitive game was good at launch. TF2 had one of the most disorganized competition scenes ever. People couldn't agree on formats, maps and modes were extremely unbalanced, and even when things settled down it was clear the game was a Pub server game being shoehorned into a competitive format. Valve has made updates that would make competitive play much more feasible, but now everyone's stuck with the old rules. 6v6 on CP maps is just a completely crazy way to play TF2. Also I think it's funny whenever TFC fans complain about TF2, because I have friends that were crazy into the original Quake TF mod, and they wouldn't touch TFC with a 10 foot clown pole. Most of them prefer mods like the Enemy Territory TF. It seems everyone's got their version that they consider the best. I'm definitely that way with DoD vs DoD:Source. But TF2 is such a different game, that I don't think it's even worth comparing it to old TF mods. -
I played the new endings on Youtube.

The narration and setting is weird. I really don't understand their decision to make you a child, or the tone as if this game is for kids. Because the puzzle solving would absolutely be out of their domain. Especially since it requires a ton of co-ordination and timing. I really enjoy first person puzzle solving, so I'm glad they're making more of it. But QC will make you appreciate why Portal is more than just a sum of it's parts, and how Valve did more than just pick up a student team and publish their game.

Some co-workers were talking about doing Simpsons Trivia at a bar. Apparently the place is packed every week, and the trivia questions are restricted to the first 8 seasons or something like that. It's strange to think that that's still a thing that people do. In the 90s it made sense, people were Simpsons super fans. But there are still people who have memorized the number on Skinners PoW mask, and will fight over who can buzz in the fastest with the answer.

I always feel like people talking about EvE are speaking another language. Not just in the "wtf is this jargon" sense. It's like you've stared into the black abyss and can no longer communicate reality with others who haven't shared your vision. I really enjoy the drama an insanity of the open market.

Under water bases seem like they might be the safest, but that might be a bit boring. The other option is a long distance sprint. -

Ok so basic game plan should be an immediate dash in a certain direction to gather food, wood and sapplings. They warn that spawn campers patrol around the spawn, so we may be forced to sprint before we can sustain it. If you've been watching UHC, we should basically build a staircase shelter and dig out a farm. The wiki also suggested starting in the nether and farming pigmen for zombie flesh. Nothing (including pigs) can harm people within something like 100 blocks of the origin, so you can grind on free food before setting out. -

I appreciate the honest outlook on the quality of the game. I'm not sure people will be that interested in their middlewear, but I hope they're successful.

It's pretty crazy that it was built almost entirely in the first week, and 100% legit.
