Boo speed run levels in 3D World. They were easily my least favorite thing about 3D Land. The top down shooter level looks pretty fun though.

Sounds like your summation in the Recently Completed thread that this would be a good one to jump into the series with?

Finally got picked up the Wind Waker bundle. Good lord this game is gorgeous. And good, I had only played through the first dungeon on the original game. Kinda mad I had missed out on all the real cheap Virtual Console deals. Also, is it just me or is the Virtual console pretty lacking in general?

Nintendo Network ID Exchange Thread

Just got one today. I'm SquidDivision. I'll add everyone. It seems like more people have one than have posted here? -
I think EVGA might have better warranties or something? I think that's why I bought them.

I feel like Crusader Kings II, Civilization, and the Total War series all express their intended goals very well: Crusader Kings shows the absurdity and complexity of Medieval politics, families, and the effort it takes to wrangle them into a stable entity. Total War (on higher difficulties) shows the difficulties (or lack-there-of in some cases) generals and nations have in exerting their power. My favorite Total War game is the Barbarian Invasion expansion for the original Rome because it showed just how fucked the Roman Empire was, and how fluid all the tribes and their boundaries were. Civilization shows the extent of humanity - from the stone age to the nuclear, from nuclear war to artistic and cultural achievement. For me, it also showcases the importance geography and resources have on a civilization and their growth/decline.

Didn't the sun and any sense of joy or happiness leave Pittsburgh in like 1982?

What I know about chains vs belts is related to motorcycles' final drive, but I don't see why the principles wouldn't be the same: chains are good because you can fix them and you won't end up stranded somewhere as pretty much every place that can work on a lawnmower can fix it, but they require a lot more recurring maintenance; belts require virtually zero maintenance, but when they break, you're boned, you have to get a whole new one.
-
Wouldn't you have to keep the chain greased and switch out sprockets when they get too worn?

I'm going to be in town tomorrow and maybe the day after. What would be some good neighborhoods to wander around during Halloween? (I don't have a costume it anything)

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
Squid Division replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
In the same vein as the Baroness discussion (because they've been touring and they're from the same town), I've been listening to Royal Thunder nonstop since discovering them. They're basically a heavier Heart: I've also been listening to a lot of Wolf People who are a super Britishy fake 70s psych band. Musically they remind me a lot of Damnation-era Opeth. They alternate between being really good and so-goofy-it's-funny-and-good pretty regularly. -
I really hope Nintendo is able to do for the WiiU what they've done for the 3DS this year, because that was such a huge turnaround. It feels like old Nintendo, where's it's the same old franchises, in weird new games (in a good way).

I did the best when I got in close and tried to hack it out. The problem is that I've only got a few humanity left, so I might be on my own for this one, which is fine, I'll figure it out.

Currently on my ~5000 mile trip from Washington DC to Seattle, WA. I'll have some video of me eating shit on some unexpected gravel within a week or so. I'm gonna need a ton of work done on the bike when I'm done, but it'll be an excuse to put new/custom parts on - new turn signals/mirrors/headlight bracket/etc. Also, because I'm an idiot, I'm most annoyed that after my crash, some of my safety gear is scuffed up and might need to be taken to a tailor.

I got stuck on Quelaag when I stopped playing a few months ago. I tried it with phantoms (real and AI, sometimes both) and on my own and she just kept destroying me. I'll go back to it in a while, but Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of the generation and I've probably not ever gotten halfway through it. I'm excited to be around while the community is still figuring stuff out for Dark Souls II though.

As someone who's never played a Pikmin game, I'd kind of passed this one off as the worst one to try and jump into. I've heard stuff about the campaign structure being weird and the individual missions not being near as good. Is all of that unfounded? I don't even remember where I'd heard it, and obviously I'd like it not to be the case so I'd check it out.

I think I'll be picking up the Wind Waker bundle in the next couple weeks, as I've always wanted to play it, but never got around to it. ZombiU, Monster Hunter, and Mario 3D World are the other contributing factors. Nintendo has been doing really well lately with getting tons of games announced and released relatively quickly. After Smash Bros. I don't think they have anything announced though, so hopefully they can keep it up.

I'll be getting X, the one on the cover of Y looks dumb. -
The remake looks fantastic, but the video does emphasize how well the original has held up.

The other two look fine, but man, Blastoise looks kinda dumb with the cannons moved to the arms and the turret.

On Saturday night in the park? We had a small group there, but none was wearing that shirt. Weird.

Looking for new laptop for Unity3D, Blender
Squid Division replied to Rxanadu's topic in Idle Banter
Don't really think you'll find much in that price range. Lenovo makes good laptops, but this is about the closest I could find for you http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/l-series/
