  1. Rusty's Real Deal Baseball [3DS downloadable]

Wow, this is an awesome write-up; thanks RubixsQube. I would love to hear Jake gush about this on the podcast—and then hear Chris make fun of him for it.

Ha! Your opinion is heterodoxy to many "true" Metroid fans, but I really enjoyed Fusion as well and never thought the heavy direction from the computer got in the way of what I found fun about Metroid. I wonder if it would be weird to replay this game after knowing how weird Other M got with this story...
  3. Huh, yeah, it made me wonder if it would be possible to sell Braid or Limbo based on their stories—or the weird book text in Braid that Chris mentions in this podcast.
  4. Kim & Clint Hocking their Swiftboat down the Amazon

I hope this evil megacorporation who I stopped ordering from treats them better than Valve did!
  5. Frog Fractions 2: A Fractional Kickstarter Campaign

Yeah, and this kickstarter video has circulated around a lot today and they've only increased by about $2,000. Good for them for sticking to their guns and being just as weird in this late-game ask as they were throughout the campaign!
  6. Whoa, Monkey Island could have had the "Interface with the Animus" concept from Assassin's Creed...

Whooooooooooah... I'm so glad Mac achievements are permanently broken with Flash games and I will never be tempted to go all out like this because I would murder myself even getting halfway to what you accomplished.
  8. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Wait, you're using the mouse control mod instead of the keyboard tank controls? How are they? Replaying the game recently, this was the only Year 2 puzzle for which I had to consult a walkthrough.
  9. Anyone Remember?

As a heavy AV Club commentor until a few months ago, it's wild hearing Nick's assessment of the comment section. It's more or less correct, but the non-sequiturs and Simpsons quotes are always meant to be celebratory, not mean-spirited like so many YouTube comments. My AV Club username got Disqused out of existence, so I'm now limiting my Internet commenting to this site and AV Club spinoff site/rival The Dissolve. I love the Dissolve writers, but loathe the comments, which often devolve into Criterion Collection dick-measuring contests. I do let my AV Club brain loose on The Dissolve every once in a while. One recent article listed "Five powerful movie journalists." I noticed the list omitted Lois Lane, who does a lot of onscreen journalism. I thought, "I'm going to mention Lois Lane in the comments. Let me start typing: Lois..." Then I remembered the Twitter gimmick account @ck1blogs, a brain-addled Clark Kent who addresses every tweet in lowercase to Lois Lane. Sometimes the entirety of his tweet is just her name. So that's the comment I left: The few people who knew about this Twitter gimmick may or may not have found it amusing, and the readers that didn't would be reminded of Lois Lane, which is all I wanted to do in the first place. So why not be goofy and pithy? That's the AV Club way!
  10. Tone Control is a Podcast!

Better than equal! (Nah, I get what you're saying.) You definitely have a solid lineup, Steve. In addition to active, successful developers, I'd love to hear war stories from people who have left the industry or up-and-comers who are still trying to figure things out. Bring that unashamedly stereo microphone where ever you go and stick it into as many interesting faces as you can!
  11. Twitter :)

My twitter name is as easy to guess as it is uninteresting. I think all of you should check out @pony_strategies instead! It's a recreation of @horse_ebooks using Project Gutenberg and has turned me on to some bizarre books I may or may not ever read.

  14. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Sorry to derail this thread, but I wanted to respond to twmac above—I am sure this game will have well-implemented, interesting mechanics. But I fear that as a player you'd barely get to use them. I only ever watched part of a Let's Play of Metal Gear Solid 4, and it didn't go more than three minutes without a cutscene or some sort of interruption. To me, it made me realize I would not enjoy this game. Playing a game riddled with cutscenes is like not playing a game at all, even if the game would be excellent if I got to play it unimpeded.
  15. Fear does not exist in this doge.
  16. I walked out of my office building while starting to listen and stepped into the dying sunlight and cold New York air. I put on my sunglasses, and the theme kicked in. Glorious work, Mr. Remo.
  17. VVVVVV 2.0!

I'm really excited about VVVVVV version 2.2: Terry Cavanagh and unknown C++ coder will be updating this game! It probably won't amount to much more than the joypad and some menu options, but it will be an excuse to play VVVVVV again!
  18. Feminism

This is a very good speech about classical methods of shutting women out of public conversation—for thousands of years! http://www.lrb.co.uk/v36/n06/mary-beard/the-public-voice-of-women
  19. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I love comments! I'm typing a comment right now!
  20. Free to play: The Movie

I'm almost afraid to ask those that saw it at the Castro if people turned off their cell phones during the screening.
  21. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

    As for the other puzzle:
  22. Recently completed video games

Yeah, I am maybe three major missions into the game and my team basically all facepalmed at the terrible decisions I was making. It really made me carefully consider each in-mission decision.
  23. An IGN.com Preview! And a comments section! Have you ever wished Dead Rising was just Otis yelling at you, "Don't hang up on me; it's rude!"? Wish no more!
