  1. Hmm.. the link worked a few hours ago. Anyway, Crytek has been making pretty much the same game since they started. Yerli's remark is pretty much inline with Carmack's remark on stories in video games. Maybe in the late 90s. These days engine making companies prefer to highlight how great/easy/fast their workflow to create great looking and working games is.
  2. Recently completed video games

Unmechanical A (rather) short platform physics game. The game mechanics are quite ok. There is some kind of story going on, but it's not quite clear. The puzzles aren't really complicated, there are a few were timing is important. Overall the game is quite ok, it's just on the short side, I finished it in 2 hours.
  3. Recently completed video games

Evoland "Evoland is a journey through the history of action/adventure gaming"... that's the media blurb. And it sort of does that, although mostly the jRPG history. It's an ok game, about 3 hours worth of gameplay. As I said, it's mostly jRPG, so there is a lot of random encounters, and somewhat grinding in the fighting. My main issue with the game is that rather than having a journey through the history you pretty much reach the final stage of gameplay at 33% of the game. After that there are a few minor graphical improvements that do not really change much to the game. And at about 66% of the game they introduce a time traveling concept when you switch between 3D world and 2D world, but it also influences some world elements like trees that haven't grown. It would have been better if they slowed down the journey through history, gameplay wise, for 75% of the game and explore the various stages of history a bit more.
  4. Flashback

I've only played a small bit of Flashback back in the day, I think it was a demo. But I do not recall it having that much explosive action in it.
  5. Speaking of the "oops wrong button" incident in Bioshock Infinite Sean talked about, that happened to me a couple of times. Although a bit differently. I have been playing some other FPS/TPS games where right mouse button is "zoom". So I accidentally unleashed a murder of crows which murdered friendlies, or initiated a fight premature. That was rather annoying.
  6. BioShock Infinite

And Comstock is short for: commercial stock \o/
  7. Maximillian Payne: Part Trois

This game has really become annoying. After murdering a couple of hundred cops in the police station, and redoing some segments a shit load of time I arrived at the airport where I more or less have to do the exact same bullshit. Kill a shit load of people, walk a few meters, kill even more, get killed, and start from the beginning. Do this often enough to stock up on enough painkillers just to reach the next checkpoint and start over again. The shitty 3rd person camera isn't helping at all in the right corners you often have to walk through.
  8. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    that... is... quite awful
  9. Distance

Ok, just played Nitronic Rush. Now what? Keyboard controls are a bit "meh". It's doable, just needs some practice.
  10. Distance

    btw, here's a newer video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gCDJHfhBfIg
  11. Distance

Chris is already playing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7OZEn4b69eM#t=14s Looking forward to playing it myself, I'm glad I backed it.
  12. BioShock Infinite

Pfff... just finished it. Interesting ending, nice way to tie up the whole "bioshock" name. Apparently I missed quite a bit. I think I missed 5 voxaphones and 2 telescopes/picturethingies.
  13. Bioshocked infinitely

  14. Oh man. I suck, I haven't continued for weeks now. Maybe this weekend I'll catch up a bit.
  15. LucasArts is no more

My favorite LucasArts game would be Full Throttle.
  16. Really dumb analogies. How about this, a friend of mine used to have a car where the immobilizer would sometimes fail, while driving! He then had to pull over an wait like 15 minutes before he could start his car (really useful when you're on a freeway). Did he deal with it? Yeah, he had the immobilizer fixed (and eventually bought a new car). So yeah, I will deal with always on DRM by not buying into it. You might have a working internet connection 99,9% of the time. But that doesn't mean I can reach these DRM servers 99,9% of the time. There are multiple points of failure in this system that all bring down the whole system. This include power outages Anyway, a service industry is more lucrative than a product industry (given the fact that you sell the same "thing" for the same price)
  17. BioShark Infinite: A Jeff Gone Gold Game

zomg... you can jump the shark
  18. Booo... you spoiled dieing in bioshock infinite for me. I haven't died yet, I did come very close a couple of times though. But now I know what might happen if I die. In 1999 mode you get perma death right, or can you simply respawn from the last checkpoint. I would rather have savegames and normal dieing (i.e. lose all progress since your last save), that's 1999 for me.
  19. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Wait... don't... I've got more of those bad jokes.
  20. Congrats Jake for winning Idle Thumbs
  21. LucasArts is no more

Good riddance. Now a responsible team can develop star wars games. But EA or Activision will probably get picked.
  22. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

They recorded dialogue to scratch it, so that's a 'No' to voice acting, they scartched it
  23. Post your face!

there's a heath pickup in the toilet behind you
  24. dual Titans? that's quite expensive
