Well, Magic is a card game and it wouldn't make sense to actually give out physical starter decks. But otherwise it's similar to F2P games, there's no one product you can buy that'll give you the complete experience (unless you play Cube, I guess?). So I suppose a F2P video game version makes a lot of sense. I just hadn't made the connection between why I don't play Magic and why I don't play F2P games before, I just don't like how they are monetized. Anyway, I didn't know this was Blizzard. It's actually pretty interesting, especially if playing it is not very expensive.

Isn't Magic already essentially a free to play game, except you have to buy into it? I kind of feel f2p owe a lot to Magic and its money vacuum.

I think this looks spectacular. The puzzle design seems like it even has great learning game possibilities for a wide audience.

Surely no-one can say they didn't get what they bargained for if they find this disappointing? It's the only reason to play a David Cage game. That level of sweet, succulent disappointment in a safe environment is completely unprecedented. It's good practice for getting your heart broken.

That, and onomatopoeia are not euphemisms either. I'd say they're more literal than most words... What fascinates me about euphemisms is when they become taboo enough to require euphemisms of their own. Like the various names for the toilet in the English language. A 'bathroom' is already pretty damn euphemistic, but it's not enough in all circles. A 'restroom' is ridiculous to me.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it's not very constructive. Multiple levels would be cool, it'll be really nice if they can make that happen. But fundamentally what I want is something that's different from the core design of the game. It's not a feature to be implemented when the game is already alpha. They're just making a different game from what I would hope from the concept, which is personally disappointing. Space station concepts I would have liked to see: * Maybe it's a torus like in Elysium, you could do that with one level (that loops) * Build a base on the surface of an asteroid, look around it like planets in Planetary Annihilation but a lot smaller * Like ISS but huge What they could do with multiple levels is something like the Enterprise, which is cool. Anyway, my problem is that I can't look at the base in the game and not think about what the whole looks like, and right now it looks like a sprawling flat thing, like a school. It doesn't make a lot of sense in space. I know that's silly. For more constructive opinions, the RPS article is good...

This is not very constructive because it's not really something that can be changed at this stage, but it bothers the hell out of me that you build the base on a 2D grid as if you were building it on a very flat piece of ground somewhere. It bothered me in the prototype but I figured it was because it was just a prototype. Anyway, I love the feel, the visuals, the music and all. I dig the vibe. Man. But I want to make Babylon 5, not an IKEA.
