I spent a few nights with family in Hastings last week. My youngest cousin there had an Xbox and owned, I think, the past five FIFA titles. I never understood that. But shooting zombies in CoD: World at War sure was fun.

Thanks, Ginger. I might brave the movie (on DVD) at some point to get the full picture. Or not.

I suppose Marek meant it was too limited for the NCsoft project?

I really liked that Moon played it pretty straight rather than having a bunch of twists everybody expected and that had already been seen in a ton of movies and other scifi. I couldn't finish Antichrist. I really liked the first hour and a half, but decided to walk out pretty quickly when the brutality ramps up suddenly. Ginger, would you mind giving me a run-down of what happens in the end?

I enjoyed that game and played it through. I don't remember having many problems with the PC controls. I went in expecting a Michael Mann film in game format and that's what I got, down to the stupid plotlines and growling two-dimensional characters, though they still had enough personality to carry the game to the finish. But I'd rather not have played it on a gamepad.

Oh, just a little joke. I'd be very surprised to find a toblix post that wasn't sarcastic in some manner -- the thought boggles the mind.

So I liked HAWX, do you think I should buy this to get some more of that?

No David Caruso and David Caruso's sunglasses, no purchase. I guess you should have a special button in the corner somewhere you could use to take them off or put them on whenever you feel like it, especially in the middle of conversation.

Before I lived in a household with a console, I always thought the local multiplayer was a really seductive feature of console gaming. I lived about a month at my parents' though when my little brother got 360 and that doesn't seem to be reflected in the actual games. He bought way more than I thought was necessary, and local multiplayer is clearly not something companies feel is important. Games like UT3 would only support two players for no reason, other shooters wouldn't have any bots (ever player a Counterstrike-like game with 3 players?). A few of the games would say they support multiplayer in different colours on the back of the box, but I guess none of those colours was the one for local splitscreen multiplayer? Anyway, I realized that the best bet for hotseat play was a flatscreen TV attached to a PC with some brilliant little indie game like Gibbage or a MAME emulator and some gamepads.

Opera seems to be where much of the innovation for browsers seems to happen first. Remember when we didn't have tabs? Or mouse gestures?

Because everyone seems to agree?

I think Public Enemies is definitely worth seeing, as it has terrific acting and some well directed action scenes. Also some badly directed scenes. Mostly it's just needlessly documentary in its approach. There's no kind of story arc really. They used a digital camera to film it, and boy does it look fugly compared to proper film, especially in night scenes and indoor scenes. Also, the guy handling the camera likes to focus on peoples' shirts or hair rather than their eyes.

Apparently some people have done quite a bit to improve the nigh perfect Planescape: Torment. I'll post some of the Escapist news story here: Actually makes me want to play again, and considering my computer situation in Scotland, I don't have that much else to play... http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38180

That could be a good movie, but the trailer really tries to hide that possibility.

I'm pretty sure it hasn't gone through the highest courts yet.

Hmm, if you press tab in the text adventure and then ESC, the game responds with becoming totally unresponsive.

Brillo game, lads. Signor, maybe there's something wrong with your monitor or settings? Sure, it's pale orangey writing on an orange background, but the contrast is pretty strong. Or maybe your eyes are even more fucked up than mine.

You'll hate the games that make you cry on Level 17.

Killing army guys in a steampunk game wouldn't make any sense.
