  1. I was expecting something much more dangerous.
  2. The Walking Dead

The last Telltale Games game I played was Back to the Future which felt slow, unpolished and kinda awkward. I didn't even finish the last two episodes. Half an our into The Walking Dead and I can already see that this is a completely different beast. Way to make things work Famous 'n' Video Games!
  3. Steam Summer Sale 2012

I think I will finally give Saints Row: The Third a shot. Are any of the DLC packs worth getting?
  4. Uplay

I agree with this statement. Well put toblix. The only thing I like about Uplay is that it displays the amount DRM data (?) transferred every time you open a game for no reason at all. The progressbar is there for less than a second and exact value is in bytes (if I recall correctly). It always makes me feel like Uplay is in fact some kind of no-CD crack or something. And a poor one at that.
  5. Recently completed video games

    What the fuck is this?
  6. Steam Summer Sale 2012

I agree with vimes. Trying to run Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for the first time were my two most painful PC gaming experiences by far with a possible exception of trying to download some free DLC for the latter through GFWL. Still, I would do it all again to play these games. I wouldn't try to install the skin pack this time, though.
  7. How to care what happens in an FPS

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is indeed a good example of this sort thing. I used non-lethal takedowns almost exclusively even though I knew I wouldn't be getting the achievement for that, and when infiltrating the police station, for example, I didn't even consider shooting the cops an option. There are games where you ruthlessly slaughter cops and security guards even though you are "the good guy", just because they are in your way and you don't have time to explain why your actions are so important to national security or whatever. I can hardly feel bad for making them not exist anymore if the game doesn't give me any other tools for dealing with the situation and if the world around me is so broken that it barely even registers this massacre. The lack of choice is partly why I think Pathos concept is not a very elegant solution to the problem. This and the ghosts. If I remember correctly, the original Mafia did quite a good job in not-trivializing murder and violence. You started off as a taxi driver and actually had to drive people to their destination (something which many people hated, but I thought was very nice touch), before being slowly sucked into the world of organized crime. I disliked killing because I knew that I wasn't born a killing machine and that there were indeed other ways of interacting with people around me. At some point I could but marvel what monster I had become, even though I tried my best to stay good, with the boundary condition of staying alive and in favor of the Family at the same time. (And by "I" I mean the protagonist because the plot was very linear.) Was there a browser or an indie game or a mod that always showed you the family of your victim being delivered the news of his death right after you had shot him, or was that just in my head? Somehow I remember No One Lives Forever (one or two) having a scene like this but I might be completely wrong.
  8. Steam Summer Sale 2012

Your wish has been granted it seems.
  9. Gaming headphones

HD 555s are really comfortable in my opinion. I really like the fact that the cushion is covered in fabric and not leather. Much less ear-sweat. Offtopic for the HD 555 owners: http://www.head-fi.o...omparison-shots Yeah, sure. But I assume that Sennheiser headsets are similar in quality to Sennheiser headphones. EDIT: PiratePooAndHisBattleship got there first.
  10. Gaming headphones

I can recommend Sennheiser as well. I have HD 555s and they are not held together with tape.
  11. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Haha.. That games list is truly ridiculous.
  12. Life

    Every game needs birds.
  13. Steam Summer Sale 2012

I don't know about the Falll of the Samurai, but I think Shogun 2 is well worth the 10 euros. You can always buy the expansion in the winter sale.
  14. Books, books, books...

Oh god.. There is even one with Fake Downey Jr. http://www.amazon.co.../dp/1453622152/
  15. Hitman: Absolution

Still seems good to me. I'm glad that they made it possible to turn off the assists. I will probably use most of them because I suck, but I imagine that "series veterans" or whatever would be really pissed if they were always on.
  16. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

If you want cash, I think Ouya Horsebag peripheral Kickstarter is the way to go.
  17. Books, books, books...

Have they started printing A Song of Ice and Fire books with TV series covers yet? The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with Cumberbatch still boggles my mind. I think I can stand Gary Oldman in the cover of Smiley Versus Karla novels, though.
  18. A new Kickstarter by Pendulo Studios

I still don't understand why the Kickstarter threads should be combined (thank you Orvidos for not clarifying this at all) or moved to a different subforum. Those threads are not fundamentally different from those dedicated to other upcoming games or projects. Also, the game seems quite interesting. I'll need to check out previous Pendulo Studios games before making a decision to back the project, though.
  19. What a lovely video! Much better idea than the J. Walter Weatherman lessons in Arrested Development.
  20. A new Kickstarter by Pendulo Studios

Why? What exactly is the benefit of having a single Kickstarter thread as opposed to a separate one for each game?
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

Agreed. At first, I was desperately trying to figure out to whom the series was aimed for. I soon gave up and decided to simply embrace the psychedelia.
  22. I want to start paying for music

I mostly use Spotify nowadays, but when I do buy albums, I usually look at the artist's store page first. For example, The Null Corporation has been really nice with its digital offerings.
  23. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

I wonder if the console design is final (edit: I guess it pretty much is, I should have read the text more carefully). They focus much more on the controller which, in my opinion, looks fine (albeit unusable for the color blind). Incidentially, I bought Jawbone Big Jambox a couple of weeks ago I've been really impressed by its overall quality. Hopefully, the Ouya will be as polished. Also, I really hope the box will support multichannel audio.
