Ah, of course. Will the old episodes be remastered to stereo, by the way?
-
Yes. But who is Jack?
-
Elmuerte can answer that.

This is probably the eleventh time I promote these, but the Sherlock Holmes audiobooks in Gutenberg are brilliant. The stories shouldn't distract you too much from driving and the reader is just perfect. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Wasn't there also at some point a story that Ledger based the character on Johnny Rotten? I can see more of Waits in his performance though. -

I don't know if Tom Waits just tried to come across as eccentric as possible in that interview or if he really was like that in the past, but he really annoys me there (and I really like Tom Waits). The current version is positively charming though, as evidenced by an entire second CD dedicated to his ramblings in Glitter and Doom Live. -
I second these recommendations. Both are quite cynical at their core, but also absurd and funny. Stanisław Lem's The Cyberiad is definitely worth checking out. It's a collection of cyber-medieval stories about two extremely capable constructors and the machines they build either for themselves or the kings of some distant planets. In the true fairy-tale fashion, nothing works as expected and hilarity and/or chaos ensues. Quite absurd and, strangely enough, often cynical to the extreme.

I typically reserve an hours or so for reading before I go to bed. If you feel overly tired, it's much easier to just put the book down and go to sleep than it is to stop playing or watching a movie or whatever. I do a lot of reading during the weekends too, when I'm typically away from my gaming computer and sort of willingly bored.

Yes.

Like me, castorp has probably bookmarked Idle Forums and not the main site because that is where most of the activity is. If you want to see the blog, you have to remove "forums/" in the address bar because there is no link for the main site. At least I think that was what he meant..

Got this on Steam sale. So lets see: Cool bullet time mechanics but very limited non-regenerating health Collecting gun parts while being in constant hurry Max complaining how shitty he is while actually being pretty awesome Collecting clues yet going everywhere guns blazing Someone in the design team must have realized how bizarre all these decisions were. Still, the environments are stunning and the action is quite fun. In a way, this feels to me like Uncharted without puzzles and exploration. And while those were my favorite parts of Uncharted, so far I'm actually enjoying Max Payne 3 more than, at least, Uncharted 3. This is almost entirely because I was so frustrated with the combat in Uncharted (I suck at playing shooters with a controller). I'm playing Max Payne 3 on a PC. The controls are tight, the graphics clear and the waves of enemies bearable.

Ahh.. So that is the the "additional value" they keep talking about.

Basically just paste the Youtube link without any additional stuff.

http://www.idlethumb...t-beloved-ones/ But I might as well point out again how awesome Tomáš Dvořák and his Machinarium soundtrack are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm6hdEmIhdM

I have lived less than 300 meters from my place of work and study for some years now. I'm actually looking forward to moving 6 kilometers or so further from my current flat, as I hope that it will make me bike more frequently. I have already checked the routes and all.

If it still turns out to be caffeine though, you should know that there are various decaffeination processes for coffee that affect (or don't affect) the taste in different ways. So even if some of the brands taste awful to you, it doesn't necessarily mean that they all do. Same probably applies to tea as well, but I don't know anything about that.

I didn't mean to suggest that Nolan is especially good with endings, or that the movies I mentioned were particularly great examples, but rather that at least some of his works have decent endings even if that of Dark Knight Rises was quite crap. I know that there are endings that I have thought truly excellent, but I just can't remember them right now. I'll get back to you if I do.

If I remember correctly Memento, The Prestige and Inception all had pretty solid, or at least non-disappointing, endings. The ending of Vonnegut's The Sirens of Titan was exceptionally well crafted and fitting, in my opinion. And then there's Dr. Strangelove.

I almost burst out laughing in the theater during the climax because of this:

Idle Thumbs 66: It's Broadcast Jones!
Nappi replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I really enjoyed Driver: San Francisco in all its silliness. The story was completely ridiculous of course and I couldn't help but laugh at how shitty undercover cop I was, as I hurled innocent civilians at my opponents just to win some street race that had nothing to do with my actual goal. If I remember correctly Tanner realized it was all just a dream at the very end, so until then, for what its worth, he was basically the most sadistic mass murderer in the planet. However, this didn't bother me nearly as much as killing or hurting innocent people in other games simply because it was all so ridiculous and I couldn't take the game seriously. It was interesting to hear that San Francisco in Driver: San Francisco didn't remind Chris of the actual San Francisco. I have never been there, although I'd love to, but the city didn't remind me of the San Francisco of my imagination, either. I couldn't point out why it was so as I was playing, but the width of the streets and the lack of cable cars (which I assume to be everywhere) had probably a lot to do with it. And as I have pointed out a couple of times already, the soundtrack for this game is indeed fantastic. Here is someone's Spotify playlist in case you missed my earlier post. I loved Burnout Paradise as well. Criterion's new Need for Speed: Most Wanted seems to have a lot more in common with that game than the previous Most Wanted games. It has been a while since I have been looking forward to a Need for Speed game... Also regarding inappropriate/controversial/insulting names, Joy Division immediately comes to mind. I suspect the origin of the name is unknown to many people or else it is "old history". -
I see what you did there, toblix.

Well, your symptoms match quite nicely with these. Maybe you could try to drink less coffee for a while. Disclaimer: Not the most convincing source around there - I just picked the first google result for "caffeine allergy". Plus, there are probably hundreds of other conditions with very similar list of symptoms. Still, might be worth a shot.

Sure was. I actually added that book to my to-read list. Sounds really interesting.

It took me almost six months to figure out why my fingers suddenly looked like shit all the time. Turns out they had changed the recipe for the shampoo I had been using for 5 years or so. The appearance of the shampoo itself (not just the bottle) had changed, but the symptoms weren't immediate and so I wasn't able to link the two things together. I was further misled by the fact that my scalp was fine, until very recently anyway, but now I believe that was because my fingers were more sensitive/dry due to winter and/or sauna. Anyway, I changed the brand and now they are finally getting better. The point being that if what you are experiencing is an allergic reaction, you may have to think really hard what subtle change in your lifestyle might have triggered it, even though, in hindsight, it may be obvious that it was your decision to start eating kiwifruit as a snack at work, or the paint you have been using for your art projects or something. "Funny" story: The doctor who I consulted on the subject was really eager to prescribe to me Penicillin based antibiotics even though I specifically mentioned that this was the only drug I was known to be allergic for. She kept inquiring whether it was just a skin reaction (which would have been fine, in her opinion) or if I had trouble breathing as well. I was very young when the allergy was discovered and didn't remember anything about the incident myself. She actually told me to call my mother and ask what were the symptoms. She told me that she didn't know if I had trouble breathing (I probably couldn't even have communicated it properly) but that the skin reaction was immediate and violent. This was all the doctor needed to hear and she started writing the recipe. It was only when I asked her if I really should risk respiratory problems, having asthma and all, just because the drug I was most definitely allergic to worked slightly better with skin problems than other antibiotics that she turned slightly pale and prescribed my another antibiotics. Anyway, I hope you figure out what is causing those symptoms soon.
