Finally finished this. Certainly deserving of all the praise and game of the year awards and nominations it has gathered. Good job Jake and Sean! The best Telltale game I have played by a long long way. Clementine is basically the best morality system ever created. The fact that I was constantly asking myself "Is it okay for a kid to see this?" or "Will she understand why I did this?" instead of "How many paragon points will this decision grant me?" is a major testament to its success. About the ending:

Good discussion on Tropico 4 guys! I'll quote my ultimate Tropico moment here because it ties in with the discussion:

Oh Jesus. As pointed out in the The AWL piece, you should definitely read the final two paragraphs of the Megan Fox interview. Pure gold.

I just played through Episode 3 and encountered a truly hair-raising bug: Also, is there a way to skip the "In the next episode" thingies now that all the episodes are available?

Many of the ancient Greek sculptures were actually painted at one point and the pigment has just worn off since. And who knows, maybe the limbs are missing by design and not due to some accident. That Dead Island sculpture might actually be a surprisingly accurate recreation of an ancient marble statue. In all seriousness though, that thing is incredibly dumb.

I read the book some two or three years ago. Oddly enough, the part that I remember the best - in a hazy sort of way, not in detail - is the one where Oedipa Maas suddenly realizes that the alcoholic or homeless person will surely get himself killed by smoking in the bed, and panics.* I'm not sure if it was she or just me that temporarily woke up at that point, but I found the scene incredibly well executed. * My memories of the whole book are a bit hazy, but I think that was more or less how it went.

Basically, yes.

Haha. Yeah, I should have used smilies or something.

Yeah, I was just trying to point out - in a dick-ish way, I admit - that even if something is purely fictional and does not connect to real world in any way (like violence according to Frenetic Pony), people can still object to and be turned off by it. I thought torture would be a good example, because a lot of people react to its depiction in fiction (latest Splinter Cell games for example). It seems that the comparison wasn't very successful after all.
-
I'm with you on this one. Same goes for fictional torture. It's obvious that fictional torture does not lead to real life torture. Why can't people just stop complaining and enjoy it for what it is? Bloody good fun.

Hmm.. It seems that at level 10 you get to do the first part of a Master Assassin, and the second part at level 15. After that the region is permanently yours.

I recruited and trained assassins as fast as possible, so that I wouldn't have to deal with tower defense ever. If I recall correctly, fully trained assassin's will never lose territory. It was a stupid mechanic that was replaced with different but equally stupid mechanics in Assassin's Creed III.

Yeah. That spoiler was completely pointless.

That teaser was a bit dumb, but I liked The Witcher 2 and I like cyberpunk, so I'm still excited about this. I don't know what to think about 2077, though.

A long time ago, I had a t-shirt made that was supposed to say "Cheap noodles" in Chinese. I bet it was actually something truly profound.

I have mixed feelings about eReaders. I like physical books and I enjoy watching them take more and more space in my bookshelf. However, some time ago I ruined the skin of my fingers a bit with a shampoo that I was allergic to, a now handling paper for extended periods tends to dry my skin quite a bit, which is very irritating. Moreover, I often read during my short commute between home and work and have troubles keeping my paperbacks, especially the thicker ones, in good shape. For these reasons, I have been eyeing Kindle Paperwhite which unfortunately is still not available for delivery to Finland. I think I would still buy physical books regularly, though, especially if they look beautiful. The ideal situation for me would be a Book + Digital copy bundle similar to those Bluray + DVD + Digital copy things for movies. Does anyone know if these exist?

Ah yeah, that. At least you can still take your time with the escape. I finished the game yesterday. Quite liked it actually. I was glad that it let me pretend to be a silent assassin all the way to the end. With a better story, more focus on the playground missions, and less idiotic save system, this could have been a great game. Mechanically the game worked well. Even the disguise system made sense to me. Most of the time at least.
-
Which mission are you talking about?
-
Yeah, I don't see why they wouldn't.

They are stating "A quad-core 64-bit, x86-based 32nm processor running at up to 3.2GHz (with 4MB of Level2 Cache)" for X7A in their press release. I don't know which processor that translates into.

It's interesting to see if they have managed to get the big names to support this endeavor. We already know that Half-Life 3 is going to be a launch title, but what else?

How extensive is Steam's Linux catalog at the moment? Not a whole lot of large budget games there yet, I presume? Or is Valve working on a way to port every Windows game to Linux or something? I'm confused.

I don't see a problem in it being here. Cool remixes! Keep em coming.

Right.. Except when the rumors start circulating that chapter 7 is so difficult because the greedy developers wanted more money from the micro-transactions.
