  1. I downloaded The Europa Universalis IV demo yesterday thinking that I'll do just fine now that I had finally got the hang of Crusader Kings II. Needless to say, I had absolutely no idea what was going on. I'm still looking forward to testing it properly, though. After the incredibly steep learning curve of the first few hours or so, Crusader Kings II stops being overwhelming all of a sudden. I hope this is the case with Europa Universalis as well.
  2. A Far Cry from Home - Travel Discussion

Krakow is amazing. But as I said, I haven't been to Warsaw, so I can't compare the two. Not that there is any point in that either. Glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday!
  3. A Far Cry from Home - Travel Discussion

You are a bit late, I think.
  4. Crusader K+ngs II

Thanks guys for all the help! Now that I know how the succession works I think I can finally fulfill my dream of becoming the king of the world. (The last confusion was caused by the fact that I accidentally tried nominating a different successor on my "secondary" kingdom and not the primary. When the crown that indicates the heir didn't switch over to him, I thought it was some sort of a static thing. I got it now.) Also, this game is fucking amazing!
  5. Someone should write "Seizing a Kingdom through Marriage for Dummies" guide to Nick and Chris. I want to see them succeed in their ridiculous improvised plots for once. I'm equally lost with that aspect of the game to be honest. Although, I am the king of Genoa now for some reason.
  6. Life

    Congrats synth!
  7. Crusader K+ngs II

So I can nominate my son and if the vassals go with it I play as him, even if my cousin is currently marked as the heir (crown next his portrait)? No need to kill the cousin? What about his wife? Just to be sure?
  8. Crusader K+ngs II

Oops. Turns out the heir at the time wasn't my son after all. I was too busy fighting to notice that my son had died and some random dude with same portrait had replaced him as the heir. Fortunately, he died and the current heir is my cousin who I can nominate for both Ireland and Wales. Can't seem to be able to nominate him for the successor for the Kingdom of Britanny, though. How can I make my son the heir again? Grant him enough land and assassinate my cousin? Is there a view that shows who would be the next heir if something terrible were to happen to the current on?
  9. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

You have to register to some ridiculous gearbox thing and look for codes in Facebook or Twitter or whatever. I also think I'm done with Borderlands 2 after killing the millionth guy that was running towards me. I'm simply not enjoying the combat, and it does not seem to be changing anytime soon.
  10. iOS Gaming

I think this is just a simple misunderstanding caused by the language barrier. There. Fixed. Should make more sense now.
  11. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

To Atlantis obviously. This is one of the few Lucasarts adventure games that I have completed only once*, despite liking it a lot. (Except for the final bit which was horrible.) Maybe I should replay it. *Some I have not played at all, though.
  12. Crusader K+ngs II

Hmm.. I'm starting to feel that I had missed something really obvious there. I will check the situation again when I'm back home and send save to you if I can't make sense of it.
  13. Crusader K+ngs II

Yeah I picked Denmark from there.
  14. Crusader K+ngs II

How dare you! He is my legitimate son! Actually I may have to check the bastard thing when I have access to my save, but I doubt that is the case. I find it strange that I can nominate him for Ireland but not for Wales. I may have fucked things up anyway by accidentally giving too much power to my vassals. Which leader should I play as next? King of Denmark?
  15. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Heh.. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is actually one of the pre-order reward tiers for Gone Home on Steam. The reward of the final tier hasn't been revealed yet. I hope it is the actual Ghostbuster movies, although that seems highly unlikely.
  16. Crusader K+ngs II

Ok. I thought they weren't because if I click the badge of the duchy it only lists the initial, say, 2 counties that I had when I created the duchy with the third one only appearing in the list once I toggle the "de jure" switch. I tried destroying a duchy and creating it again and at least on the map things looked different, but I'm not sure if it actually affected anything. Why I'm asking this is that I am now the king of both Ireland and Wales, but I can only nominate my son as the heir/successor in Ireland, i.e. he is not in the nomination list for Wales. I thought I could mend this by giving him a county in Wales (again, I have absolutely no idea what I should be doing in this game, but I have been doing ok so far) but that didn't help at all. I thought the problem was that the county does not appear to be a part of the kingdom of Wales (although it is a de jure part of said kingdom). Also, and this is very basic, how does this succession business actually work? If I nominate my son (one with the crown beside his portrait) but the vassals prefer, say, my brother, who would I continue playing as if I happened to die?
  17. Crusader K+ngs II

Sorry, my bad. What I meant was can I add a recently "acquired" county to a duchy I created earlier if that county is de jure part of the duchy? Same thing for kingdoms. I play as the king of Ireland and and decided to conquer Wales. After acquiring 4 or 5 counties I was able to create a couple of duchies and the kingdom of Wales. I of course did this immediately because I have no idea how to rule. I then acquired a couple more counties in Wales, but when I click on the badge of Wales only the initial 4 or 5 counties are outlined in blue. The other de jure counties of Wales are, I think, part of Kingdom of Ireland. I also have counties that are not a part of any duchy even if they are de jure part of a duchy I own. So is it possible to add counties to their "natural" duchies and duchies to kingdoms once they are created without tearing things apart? Or did I fuck it up by creating the duchies and kingdoms too early, or by pressing wrong claims, or something?
  18. Crusader K+ngs II

Is there a way to "add" (de jure) counties to existing duchies? Similarly can one add duchies to existing kingdoms without first breaking them apart and then gluing them back together? Because that seems to cost a lot.
  19. I was going to mention the fading hand from Back to the Future, but then I realized we are only cataloging 90s stuff. I leave you with this (also from the 80s): http://yle.fi/elavaarkisto/artikkelit/hapsiainen_tutkii_ihmiskehoa_20502.html#media=20515
  20. So it seems. That's super weird. Also, seems like Nick was not being stupid. You can only move kings to empty spaces.
  21. Yeah, I thought that was weird. I fired up solitaire to make sure that you can move non-king cards to empty spaces, only to realize that my Windows installation did not come with games.
  22. Board Game Recommendations

Thanks again for the suggestions, y'all! I bought three games already (Cosmic Encounter, Quarriors!, and Lords of Waterdeep) and I think we'll manage with those and the games my friends already own for a while. Feel free to suggest new ones, though. The ones mentioned already all sound very interesting.
  23. Fez 2

Oh my god. Merus is Phil Fish!
  24. Fez 2

Holy shit, I think you are right. HL3Z. Considering the recent trend, my guess is that Z stands for zombies. DoHalf-Life and Left 4 Dead universes overlap?
