  1. Tone Control is a Podcast!

Excellent cast! Good work Steve! I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes. Were you already friends with the other guests or how did you end up contacting them? Also, my speakers are somehow broken and can only output low frequencies. Steve, could you ask the new guests to talk in a super deep voice so that I can hear them ok? Thanks!
  2. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

    I'm this guy: http://steamcommunity.com/id/KNappi/
  3. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I just ordered Hellboy Library Editions Vol 1-6.
  4. I scanned through the whole video and could not find a single line in Finnish. What ignorant garbage.
  5. Tone Control is a Podcast!

Cool thing! Also, I'm now all nostalgic about No One Lives Forever...
  6. Spelunky!

I used to hate the very idea of rogue-likes. I want to be able to finish what I started and not lose all my progress if I die. Still, I decided to give Spelunky a try because of all the praise and because the gameplay looked quite fun. To my surprise I'm really loving-hating-loving this game. I suck at it, of course, and often get frustrated with myself while playing it. Nevertheless, I can't help but fire Spelunky up after work to try the daily challenge and a couple of normal runs after that. I think I will keep my sessions short because I found that my enjoyment of the game sags after an hour or so of playing.
  7. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Psychic by Darkside (Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington) is fantastic! Check it out: Paper Trails
  8. The Wolf Among Us

Let's see: The art style was fantastic. The story got me hooked. The time constraints for dialogue options are often way too harsh. The quick time events were fucking atrocious (good thing they didn't seem to have much effect on the outcome). You can't disable to "You made a choice" popup this time around. The game insists on spoiling the upcoming episode.
  9. Return of the Steam Box!

Seems to quite nicely, though I probably still wouldn't use it for really fast paced FPS or RTS games. I'm interested to see how well it works for traditionally face button heavy games like Rayman or Spelunky or something.
  10. The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

    Does this podcast still exist?
  11. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

    Gametrailers Top 5 Ghost Games
  12. Good cast! I love the idea of Boston Dynamics robots overtaking the company to construct and film outdated robots.
  13. I can second that recommendation. I'm about 200 pages into Bleeding Edge, and so far it has been great. Much easier read than The Crying of Lot 49 as well, though I don't know to what extent that is just me improving as a reader. Same goes for Inherent Vice.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

    I love that highlighted quote.
  15. Because he picked the catsuit power-up. It's that simple really.
  16. Goodreads group?

There is this dead thing: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/66820-idle-book-club And this: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/7817-goodreads/
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

Gravity apparently. Can't wait to see it [checks the date for the Finnish premiere] in a month.
  18. Star Wars Video Games - A New Hope

He was being sarcastic. And he claims not to have been sarcastic, he is obviously being sarcastic.
  19. Mario stalking the bird (0:48) is the best thing. I never thought I would be this excited to see Mario in a catsuit.
  20. Feminism

    Nice...
  21. Far Cry 3

Hunting didn't do it for me at all. I loved clearing out the outposts, though. Especially the latter ones. Climbing to a good vantage point, shooting the tiger cage open to cause havoc, and sniping the remaining enemies one by one without them even knowing what is is going on felt incredibly rewarding. Thinking back, that was the only part of the game that I really enjoyed.
  22. Half-Life 3

God I hope Valve has the sense to make a cheesy early-2000s* graphics cards style packaging for the controller using Half-Life assets. (By assets I of course mean Alyx.) * For all I know, this might still be going on.
  23. Old games are hard

I second that huh. I get youmeyou's point, though. I'm trying to remember if Leisure Suit Larry had delayed unwinnable states, because it would be interesting to see whether the remake "fixed" those somehow. I only remember the cheap deaths. Also, if the game were still as hard and frustrating as they were in the bad old days, I quite simply would not play them. I died a dozen or so times in a short but quite unforgiving boss battle in Rayman Legends today and I already started to feel frustrated. And that was nothing compared to a standard level in an old game. My sister and I played got really far in The Lost Levels on SNES. I have no idea what kept us playing.
