  2. [released] Avocado Smash

    Haha, this setup is brilliant!
  3. Fantastical Tactical Spectacular: Dance Tactics

This sounds really interesting! Looking forward to playing it.
  4. Sounds like this could produce some pretty cool wallpapers!
  5. Idle Thumbs Streams

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! yes
  6. Thanks! Yes, that is the art style I'm aiming for (for now at least).
  7. Mafia III: Django Unchained

This game is a weird beast. Full of technical problems and gameplay annoyances, yet I did not end up hating it. Hell, I finished the thing. Performance-wise this game is somewhat of a disaster. You get glimpses of what the city could have looked like every now and then, but usually - and especially while driving - you are looking at blurry textures and lack of detail that reminds you more of PS3-era games. I usually don't care if the graphics not the best or if the game does not run as smoothly as it could run, but here I feel that the performance problems actually made the city feel less real and alive, which is a real shame because, the different districts are quite varied. The gameplay is this: You create chaos by killing enforcers, destroying goods, etc. until a boss man is forced out of hiding. Then you sneak in and eliminate the boss. You repeat this process for a second time. After eliminating two bosses, you get a more interesting mission to kill their boss, after which you gain control of their district. Your repeat this two more times, in order to unlock all three of your underbosses. Then you repeat this three more times. And another three more times. As I mentioned earlier, I loved the quieter, non-combat moments of the previous Mafia games. It quickly became apparent that this game does not really have those missions, and you are mostly just sneaking, choking, and shooting, and when I realized that, I was fairly certain that I would have the strength to finish this game. Perhaps the most surprising thing about the game (apart from the serious lack of polish) is that I actually liked the action-y gameplay quite a bit. The stealth is relatively easy and forgiving - you hide behind a cover, whistle, and choke the guard who comes to look for you, change cover and repeat - and when you eventually fuck up and get discovered, you can still usually manage to shoot your way to freedom (thanks to the generous auto-aim). The balance between the number of enemies and the amount of damage you can sustain was usually quite good in that the stealth approach feels valuable but you don't have to reload if you get caught. If I recall correctly, there were no forced stealth sections, and only a couple of arena style meat grinders. I also found the story - or more accurately, the storytelling - quite interesting, and the racism was handled in a way that I did not find abhorrent. The disclaimer at the beginning of the game was nice reversal of the Assassin's Creed "Our team is multicultural, so... (?)"
  8. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

Anyone else having troubles figuring out how close or where the enemies are based on the sound? I guess I only notice spatial audio design when it is not great.
  9. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

I played a bit yesterday, and the gameplay felt really good. I'm not sure what it is that makes Dishonored feel so natural, but I just know that I will be having a good time with this game. Also, runs smoothly so far on 1070.
  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    This year... This fucking year.
  11. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

How can you play like this? I don't understand.
  12. DISHONORED 2: MISS HONORED

How is the performance on PC? User reviews are not very helpful because it seems that anything that doesn't give a stable 60 FPS on Ultra is "0/10 Worst Port Ever". Some have suggested that an abbreviation TXAA might be causing problems for some?
  13. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Third time posting a pan pizza here, but the first proper one, I feel. I just wanted to say that this recipe rocks! Thanks for sharing! Now off to the root vegetable thing...
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

Yup. Anomalisa is definitely worth watching by the way.
  15. Seriously, congrats! Looking forward to Waypoint content!
  16. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

I'm looking forward to joining this time around! I have played around a bit with Unity, so I know the basic workflow, but have yet to make an actual game. I have a cool idea (I think) which ties into at least one of the episode titles, and can probably implement many of the proposed diversifiers. I don't actually know if I will be able to finish the game in time, or if it will end up being fun to play, but that is besides the point, right? How is it with the schedule? I'm not at all confident with my Unity skills, so I would like to start a bit earlier and see if I can even implement the backbone of the game. Is that frowned upon?
  17. Still newer forum!

I got used to the new layout pretty fast. I like it. By the way, will the other podcasts get the logo treatment? Or did you get fed up resizing them after the first one?
  18. Still newer forum!

Looks great! Scales nicely for mobile too, which is cool. My eyes are naturally drawn to the (not that useful) dark tags instead of the light blue texts in the list of topics. That is not a big issue, though.
  19. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

I loved both games. They felt so fresh at the time. I might not have time to replay them, but I'm really interested to hear how they feel now.
  20. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Can't wait for the new Leonard Cohen album. Also, Nicolas Jaar's new album Sirens is pretty fucking dope:
