  1. Not seeing it, and I think the delay is usually not this long. Maybe Jake forgot to press a button or something.
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

Not newish, unfortunately, but can I interest you in Maximum Overdrive: It is full of ridiculous stuff and colorful characters.
  3. Because she said "I’m in the sheriff’s station. I’m in the sheriff’s station! I sent him those coordinates. I’m in the sheriff’s station because—because I’m not me," and turned out to be a tulpa shortly after.
  4. Holy shit, this episode was brilliant and much "tighter" than anything we have seen in this season so far. Cooper re-emergence was so fucking good. It instantly reminded me why fell in love with the series when I first started watching it. I love how the main theme just suddenly started playing at a weird moment. Also, US health care system seems really efficient in releasing patients who have just woken up from a coma. Love the Mitchum brothers. Audey's scene was really distressing and, for the most part, well executed too. I could have done without the camera cuts during Audrey's dance. I'm not sure what to think of Diane's revelation vs her being a balloon human. The first part of the scene was really intense, though. Can't wait for the epic showdown between all the key characters and James in the Sheriff's department next week.
  5. Life

    Jesus.. Stay safe!
  6. (in chorus) He mad. Thank you Chris for the Hunt for the Wilderpeople endorsement. I would probably not have watched it based on the cover and description alone, and I hadn't heard anyone talk about it before. Man, what a fun, heartwarming movie! Also, I'm pretty sure William Gibson's next book is about procedurally generated slogan fashion.
  7. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New Queens of the Stone Age album is cool and weird.

I also hope that the next big arc will be less epic and more fun. Hopefully, they will also find a game system that allows the players to interact with each other as much as possible. Griffin's system in The Stolen Century, at least at first, was really bad in this regard, as each player was forced to pick one general thing that he will focus on for one year, robbing the game of nice small-scale character interactions. Also, now that this story is over, I hate the Torture Game arc even more. In my opinion, it contributed next to nothing to the story or the growth of the characters. Overall, though, I really loved the series, and have a really fond memories of the arcs preceding that one. As I said before, I'm really eager to experience the new stories.
  9. I'm not sure how much this image has been post-processed (or if it is photographed separately), but damn I'm looking forward to the Bluray release of Twin Peaks: The Return. With HBO Nordic streams, I'm never sure which glitches are intentional, if people are supposed to have metallic voices every now and then, or what I am supposed to be seeing in the darker scenes.
  10. I don't have a huge childhood fondness for Jurassic Park, but I'm definitely up for some dinosaur island building. I wonder if the game will feel more like a management sim than Planet Coaster (which I have yet to play, but sounded like a very sandbox-y affair - although, it may have been significantly updated since the launch). I was not a huge fan of disasters in games like Sim City (except when I wanted to see the world burn, and not save the game afterwards), but I think this game would be much more interesting if containing the dinosaurs is actually made difficult. I think that can be nicely achieved by the tropical storms destroying and power lines, bigger dinosaurs figuring out ways to destroy the fences, and so on.
  11. What a ride. - I'm happy that the Nadine-Ed-Norma thing is finally (hopefully) sorted out, and I'm extremely happy that Jacoby's golden shit shovel was the key to this breakthrough. - I hope they will start selling those (Amanita Design) Phillip Jeffries air humidifiers because I want one. - That Log Lady scene was rough, but also felt very respectful. Hawk being silent throughout most of the telephone call felt a bit strange (probably because my default assumption is that people in that kind of a situation would want to hear someone's voice), but I guess that is how their dynamic was. I'm happy that he asked people to gather in the meeting room afterwards. Rest in peace, Catherine Coulson. - The Roadhouse scene was amazingly oppressive. - That rubber glove man needs his own spinoff series! I love him so much!
  12. West of Loathing

I finished the main game, but still have a couple of open side missions and a bunch of locations to discover (at least I think so). The writing and the art style were funny and charming, and the length of the game felt about right. I wish the combat had been as interesting and inventive as the rest of the game. Because I did not want to spend a lot of time managing my equipment, optimizing my food and drink consumption, or grinding for XP, I ended up killing the tougher one-hit-and-you-are-just-about-dead enemies by spamming dynamites and other items. I'm happy that the game let me do that, but I would have preferred for the combat to be engaging in the first place.
  13. The McElroy Family of Products

I haven't listened to the final episode yet, but I'm really looking forward to their next, hopefully less "epic", game. That "Shrimp heaven now" email on the latest MBMBaM episode was amazing!
  14. I didn't give a shit that Dan was not taking full advantage of the systems (or whatever it was that people were complaining about) during the Yakuza 0 playthrough, but the "I know I should be overwatching, but I will instead sprint here" stuff in Exquisite Corps is actually making me a bit anxious. I don't mind too much though, because I fully expect them to be obliterated and it is kinda hilarious. I saw Kerbal Space Program in the Steam download queue during the latest GBE Megadate. I hope that it means that they are making a new season of Project BEAST. I have been consuming a lot of GB content lately, but I need more still.
  15. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I wasn't expecting to use my Switch much in the handheld mode, and indeed did not do so with Breath of the Wild because I preferred to enjoy the scenery on my TV screen and because my play sessions were quite long. With Splatoon 2, I have come to appreciate the fact that I can just pick up the whole console sit on my balcony and play a couple of rounds. I even bought a case for the console, so that I can take it with me when I'm visiting my parents, something that I never expected to do when the console was first revealed. I'm yet to play games on the go or bring the console to a friend's house, but it doesn't feel as impossible anymore as it did when I first saw the commercials. Because of the portability, the speed with which I can wake up the console and juststart playing, and the fact that I can switch between handheld and TV modes really easily, I'm starting to feel that the Switch may be my favorite console, at least hardware-wise. Of course, I would prefer that it was more powerful, but to be honest, it has not been an issue so far.
  16. Road Trip Recommendations

Kyuss on repeat. If I was driving alone, I would probably queue up podcasts or audiobooks. On a roadtrip I would probably want people to take turns in choosing albums to play.
  17. Oh wow.. Things certainly gathered speed in this episode. I really hope that the glove guy gets to save the day with his super fist. I love how ridiculous that whole thing is. I have really liked the Sarah Palmer stuff so far, but I wish they had handled the "reveal" differently. For me, she became much less terrifying now that the mask is off (and unfortunately not just because the visual effect is so goofy). In the same vein, I could have done without the woman with no eyes being a thing the cops find. On the other hand, I loved how ominous things got when one of the women at the Roadhouse asked the name of the other woman's mother, and she replied "Tina". As far as the audience is aware, that name shouldn't mean anything, except that Audrey is not talking complete nonsense, right?
  18. Fantastic episode! https://petapixel.com/2013/04/08/a-moon-rise-over-los-angeles-as-a-time-slice-time-lapse-and-animated-gif/
  19. Forum theme woes

Yeah, fonts look normal on my PC in Chrome, Firefox and IE.
  20. Wet Hot American Summer

I watched the first season because it was colorful and mildly amusing and I was hoping for it to get funnier but it never did. I had forgotten about the last part already when the new season aired and watched three or so episodes in a row. I guess I just don't like this series. I'm not entirely sure why this is, because on paper it sounds pretty fun. One aspect might be that it tries so hard to be "bad" and it feels artificial to me. I can't explain it very well. I don't remember much about the movie, but I recall liking it a lot more.
  21. Finally, a performance worthy of the Roadhouse! Fantastic. The timeline weirdness was definitely quite clear in this episode: Dougie's night vs. playing with son, Bobby's day, Sarah Palmer buying Smirnoff but drinking Vodka brand vodka (which, I admit, could be explained any number of ways*). At first I was almost certain that those were just mistakes caused by the way the show was shot and cut, but on the other hand they seem quite crude. Even if this was intentional, it is hard to know if the scenes are just shown in the wrong order, or if there is really some funny stuff going, as with e.g. the looping video and whatever Sonny Jim has going on in some of the scenes. We'll see, hopefully. Audrey's scenes definitely have a nightmarish quality. I also totally didn't realize that they were talking about that kind of gym set earlier. * E.g., by her leaving her groceries at the store. Whoops.
  22. Tacoma from Fullbright

    Oh! Totally missed that.
  23. Tacoma from Fullbright

I liked the experience quite a bit. Playing and rewinding video logs is a surprisingly fun mechanic. I wasn't as absorbed by the story as with Gone Home, but it was still good. I felt that this game was the exact right length too. What was that? I might have missed it.
