Playstation Experience is live (Uncharted 4, other video games, maybe even the last guardian... Lol nope)

That's Crackdown knock-off to you. That said, not sure that I can get excited about this as Gat is the least interesting character in the game

It was released in 2014 (on Xbox One), so it counts, sort of.

2015: Year of the PS3... and Back to the Future II
twmac replied to SecretAsianMan's topic in Idle Banter
I am hoping that 2015 is the year that I move to Washington State and try my luck there. It will also register this account's 10 year anniversary at the Idle Thumbs forum (I think). A decade of only ever having been a contributiing member to one forum. In regards to moving nothing is clear yet, but here is to hoping. 2015 might also be the year that I get rid of the PS3 I bought 3 years ago - I use it so infrequently, so year of the PS3 it is! -
Wow, I went on holiday and didn't check this for awhile. To be honest, I don't feel the same as many of his detractors and the post was meant as a light hearted dig at him but I am now starting to realise that some of his goofiness can come over as deeply offensive. The lines about him encouraging hard work is now more obviously offensive when I put it into context of what a slacker he was/is. I never thought that this post would spawn these responses but I am definitely re-evaluating some of my own reactions to Dan with those posts in mind. That said, still like the guy and I still think that the new Bombcasts are good (but lacking the previous enthusiasm from before - can you blame them)

Dark Souls II, Earth Defence Force 2025 were both excellent but after dropping so many hours into the previous games they didn't set my world on fire in the same way. They were still great, really great but failed to capture the same awesomeness. The Evil Within is probably my game of the year. Nods to Sunset Overdrive, D4, Titanfall, Abyss Odyssey, Walking Dead Season 2 and Forza Horizon 2.

I think that he treads this weird fine line. He says things that I find emphatically problematic (like the way he talks about fast food joints as if they are great and infers that Wallmart is a fine establishment) but at the same time he seems to be willing to admit he is wrong and he constantly talks about instances where he dismissed something and then recanted when he tried it. Other times he seemed to be this staunchly in opposition of something to the point of almost being a biggot but then he sort of tails off and respects other people's opinions. Also, he got into Yoga, through Wrestling. So yeah, I can't tell how proud he is of his ignorance as he openly admits it and when challenged he does rectify things, sometimes. Anyway, his overwhelming positivity has won me over even if he is totally going to kill himself with the diet he is on.

Styx is definitely a Goblin. There is a tie in with the game 'Of Orcs and Men' and Styx is of the same race as the Goblins in that. You don't get a Rock, but there are things you can wake up with Sand. Also, if you hit a light while a soldier is near enough then he is alerted to the noise of that instead of looking at you, which means you can use that to your advantage.

GAH! Thanks Korax, once I have finished another game I will return to Lords of the Fallen.

Yeah - it is also just weird that a game like Styx: Master of Shadows would attempt to do that. Will see if it pays off.

Yeah, I think he makes a great addtion to the team. I would also definitely vote for him, if that wasn't clear enough.

Got to the third boss that is a scythe guy in a graveyard. Once you get his health down by one notch, he does a special move that one shot kills you. I have no idea what to do with him so I am going to put this game on the back burner for now. A bit disappointed really.

So I just got into mission 4, which is about 2 thirds of the way into the game, and the plot took a turn that I wasn't expecting. Anyway, not a big deal but to tie narrative and mechanics together like that is more than most games bother to do.

But, yes, some amazing performances. The way that all the machismo of the characters ends up making them look like children is perfect. Shia Labouef is surprisingly good too but it is Pitt's central performance that is important.

Wow, gamechurch have their own website. I have their bible book thing they were handing out at E3

Sorry to hear about the problems - it worked really cleanly on Xbox One for me.

Oh, by no means am I actually saying that this a great step forward but I am pleasantly surprised to walk into one of the most infantile forums I know outside 4chan and see misogynists copping to fair points. As hilarious as that quote is James (there are so many problems with it) at least it is a person who is going 'no, that is fair to ban them, [%insert deeply troubling comment here].' I also do like that the banhammer is being put into effect, too frequently I see it not being used at all in other comment threads that leads to conversations falling apart.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
twmac replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah - I have been pretty disparaging of these HD remakes but when someone pushed me on what ones I would play I said Dark Souls and Earth Defence Force. I guess I will be putting my money where my mouth is.- 1284 replies

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/916373-pc/70650726 I am actually surprised that this conversation is going as well as it is on Gamefaqs. The story is that a pro-Starcraft player got disqualified for tweeting that he was going to rape his opponent. Now there are the usual people in there defending it but there are equal numbers of people condemning. I was impressed that gamefaqs managed to summon up that level of maturity.

The only games I played on my DS were Mr Driller: Drill Spirits (awesome game), Cardfighters Clash 2 (I liked it but there was a bug that meant you couldn't beat the game) and a lot of Doom for the GBA. The way that my life changed circa 1996 it meant that the handheld world left me behind. I don't commute anywhere regularly to want to play games (and when I do commute I prefer to read a book) and I would never play at home because there are bigger, more exciting things to play. Still, I remember seeing people get together in the stairwell of our building to play Mario Kart - just a group of super nerds having fun - Gawd Bless 'em.

I played this for about 30 minutes at EGX Rezzed and there was this meta moment where you play as the devs and they keep going on about how they need a lesbian black girl so that they win all of the awards. I think it was meant to be funny but it just came off as hamfisted. I played it past that and was bored senseless - when people started making a lot of noise about this being a good game I was very surprised.

So Xbox Live just gave me 30 quid in rewards because I spent a ton of money on digital releases last month (Shadow of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive and Lords of the Fallen - not to mention renting a bunch of films) and decided to spend it on Styx. I am loving the game so far (only on Mission 1 but the tutorial mission was huge) - the setting is really strong as I feel like I moving through distinct but cohesive areas of a lived in fortress. I wish I hadn't set it on normal but instead put it on Goblin difficulty(melee attacks kill you in one hit) because I don't really want to get into fights and I don't think that it is the best way to play this game anyway. The platforming is a little clumsy and there is a lack of optimisation (turning the camera too quickly means that you will occasionally see white where the game failed to load textures for a few seconds) but I am really excited to get deeper into the game. At 20 pounds (well, free in my case) it was a steal and I cannot recommend it enough to people who like stealth games. I am utterly surprised as I thought it was going to be a bad game but that I might be able to laugh at it.

Okay, can we put Bloviating on the list? The list currently consists of: Sophistry Ad Hominem QED And it is a list of terms that idiots see other, smarter, people use to excoriate someone on the internet and then decide to use as their one word that makes them look clever.

Well, he was right he never said that she hadn't made a game, only that she had never made a real game, by herself. As opposed to Mr Ubisoft and Mr. Criterion who make real games all by themselves.

Also, the guy who threw it in my face admitted that it might be photoshopped and apologised for all the assertions he had made about her character as a result condemned the potential forgery.
