  1. Proteus

I don't know if the Tale of Tales guy were joking, but... they just said they released their game "Bientôt l'été" just to get the art game haters off the Proteus guy's back. But seeing that this game existed for MONTHS, doesn't have any special Steam features or anything. I think they might have done it for that reason, at least partially? Obviously, the forums are now filled the exact kind of comments Proteus did. PS: Americans keep pronouncing it similar to "Parodius" and I keep thinking I finally met another Parodius fan. :|
  2. So Tom Hall is giving the Kickstarter thing another go... It says it's Commander Keen inspired, but it looks like a normal platform game to me, no pogos or laser guns? It does come with a world creator, which seems to be the main focus of the pitch. Everything seems fine since it seems to be more than an idea this time, but... 30$ for the whole thing? (25$ if you get in early) The tool does seem impressive and maybe it's more of a case that you're supporting a "game maker" than a game, but I can imagine more people will be scared away from paying 30$ for a platform game (that's really a game engine).
  3. Worlds of Wander: Tom Hall's new "Keen" Kickstarter

Well, it looks like now you can get the game for 15$ without the editor, but they really want you to get the editor it seems, they had one of those "The first 500 get it cheaper!", which is now the first 5000, which is almost too many?
  4. Worlds of Wander: Tom Hall's new "Keen" Kickstarter

Yes, but usually you get "bragging rights" at higher levels with special items and usually you get the game CHEAPER when you Kickstart it. Heck, even Double Fine Adventure was just 15$... Although I did see a droid port of an obscure PC game that is terrible ask for 35$... for the Droid or iOS port. Because of Dopefish? But frankly, this game looks like it will be a million times worse than Commander Keen anyway. Why pander to the Keen fans when it's obviously just a generic platform game? This looks no better than Tommy Tronic...
  5. A New Beginning - Final Cut

Great, now I can't help but to ponder on how on Earthy can that glass window be held up with just suction cups.
  6. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

Jesus, I gave up at 107 stars, then again, this is practically the only racing game I can get into and I'm pretty rubbish at all the other ones.
  7. A New Beginning - Final Cut

Apparently it's called that because this is the version with localization in several language and extra cutscenes? I doubt it has the 60 extra minutes it claims, in the same way it claims to be 20 hours long.
  8. Games that nail atmosphere and immersion

No, what I meant is that I don't fully grasp the meaning of either concept and that's they are "similar" to me. So immersion is more or less how good is a game at making itself look like a game in the sense that you forget about you score, XP, and other "game-y" things?
  9. A New Beginning - Final Cut

I was making an Edna & Harvey joke, I guess you haven't played the game if you didn't recognize the toy rabbit in the game. :| I think most adventure games don't have the budget for having them talk softly or just "think". If you have them talk softly because they don't want to be caught during a certain scene, then they would have to add a softer voiced line for the item descriptions they have in their inventory so it's better to pretend they can't be heard. It would be equally jarring to have them speak a few lines in a whisper only to have them shout the next line.
  10. Games that nail atmosphere and immersion

"Immersion" is like "escapism" to me, I don't think I truly grasp what they mean. Do people truly feel like they are in the game? Do people truly want to "escape" from the real world to a game world? Anyway, as for atmosphere? Yeah, Miasmata has a great atmosphere. One of the things I enjoy the most in games is exploration, and for that the game needs to have an atmosphere I'm comfortable with. I need it to be more "alive" and a little more variety in flora and fauna, a city that can goes on even when I'm not interacting with it. Is immersion something as simple as a game with no HUD or a game that makes you forget the HUD exists?
  11. A New Beginning - Final Cut

Adventure games seem to be the genre with the shortest games, even the average Mario game is much longer than these game, they usually last me 4-10 hours. Once again, I didn't get any audio problems with these games ad for the puzzles, I started a thread on Toon Logic because Deponia seems to be almost easy to me but everybody else think it's impossible... Rufus is an idiot savant, I just play the game and think what would I do if I was Daffy Duck, Mr. Bean or a complete crazy moron living in a world with cartoonian laws of physics? And the easiest way to solve the puzzle is... would it be funny if this actually worked? If you think Deponia has bad logic, stay away from both Edna and Harvey games, their logic is even more insane since you actually deal with true mad people in a true mad world, but it still cartoon logic, just more Tex Avery than Looney Tunes. Yeah, the mystery of the oil rig was probably the best part, but I still find one thing hard to swallow:
  12. A New Beginning - Final Cut

I haven't noticed any of those auido glitches either and doesn't ever game character ever say out loud what they are thinking so the playing can hear it? But like I said, I enjoy this like a MS3TK thing, specially near the end when
  13. A New Beginning - Final Cut

While I can agree this is probably the worse game from Daedelic Entertainment... I didn't have any bugs that I can remember and I enjoyed it... in a cheesy retro sci-fi show way. Just look at that guy's stache! It's like B-movie from that era! Daedelic seem to be better at comedy, if you have the whole Daedelic bundle, I'm pretty sure you won't enjoy Chains of Satinav. Hmm, maybe we should just have a Daedelic thread: Woogie Drogglejug HUZZAH!
  14. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

Now I remember why I really love this game, one of my main complaints with other racing games is that they always seems to assume you have mastered their "basic techniques" they never bother to tell you about, but in All-Star Racing, it's not just racing, it has special challenges that concentrate on these special techniques. I always felt that these special challenges make you better at the game and more or less teach you the techniques you'll need to win races, by mastering boosting and drifting challenges I actually feel like I know how to play now. Oh, by the way, it seems that while you can attack in All-Star mode, not everybody has projectile attacks, some just attack everything in the area next to them.
  15. About cartography? I think this is the only one. If you like running scared in the woods maybe you'd like the plethora of Slenderman games out there?
  16. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

I could be that it changes from character to character, I'm using only one or two characters since I'm used to them.
  17. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

I think I might be reaching the point we I can't continue anymore... There are "Sprint" events which force you to race a ghost that not only plays perfectly, but now all the tricks of that tracks. Even on the easier setting it's a nightmare and I'm not sure I can beat the next one. The gate requirements are getting higher too I just found one with 110 stars which sounds ludicrous! I bet Dr. Robotnik is behind that gate. Like I said, the mods are not levels ups, but stat changers, they will raise a few stats and then lower some other, there is only a few mods where you are simply better than the standard version. I just noticed that the "All Star" power up is much less cooler now, you just turn into jet form and can throw projectiles.
  18. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

Well, Team Fortress is definitely in the game, since this is "Transformed", you are the Pyro on the ground, Heavy in the water and Spy in the sky... While I'm not the best racer, I am getting into it quick, I got the hang of boosting again pretty quick and some of the levels are pretty awesome... The Skies of Arcadia was epic, you're in the middle of sky pirates duking it out, blasting each out and the island itself, I love how no lap is usually the same since usually something happens that forces you to take another route! There is now a level up system, but all it gives you is a "mod" that increases one stat, but lowers another, so it's not perfect.
  19. American McGee just released Akaneiro, an action RPG based on Little Red Riding Hood in a feudal Japan setting. Even though the game was just released, there is still a Kickstarter for it, it's for adding additional systems like co-op, item crafting and iOS and Droid ports. I've only played it a little and while I don't mind the combat, it seems you can either pay (in in-game money) to resurrect when you die, and it seems to cost more each time, but the alternative is losing all your XP but keeping your items? That doesn't seems like a good thing at all. You can only heal with the in game currency, picking it up will heal you a bit, which makes a bit more stressful. But what really bothers me is the equipment, many times the differences between two items of different levels is ZERO. The game is very stylized, like a Japanese ink painting a bit, and the music is ambient Japanese flute music, so it's nice enough. Has anybody else played this? What do you think?
  20. Proteus

Actually this was on Steam, I tend to ignore Kotaku's existence as much as I can and scary part is my thread might have actually worked (Or maybe the haters just go tired) because the hateful posts are no longer on front page of it's forum and the haters and nobody really attacked the thread with much hate since I was also pointing out how both side were being jerks. There was one hilarious post from an alleged game designer who claims he's quitting his job since he can two of these games a month and we are "easy targets" so he'll be rich. This is not how the Internet works... It's kinda worrying in a strange way.
  21. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

It was just released on Steam yesterday, I have it but haven't found time to play it yet, but it claims to have racers from Team Fortress 2... Shogun 2 and Football Manager? Well, I guess Sega does own those last two franchises.
  22. Proteus

Oh, I guess I'll follow it then! It's kinda sad how people are attacking each other, going to a poster's library to find their most embarrassing game? And those are coming from people defending it!
  23. Proteus

Umm, is the Game Police making fun of crazy fanboys or run by one of them? I can't tell, sarcasm doesn't translate well through the Internet.
  24. Proteus

No, but that's what I'm trying to tell the people who are defending the game, those are potentially saner I hope. I may have gone to far by calling the discussion as absurd that Monty Python sketch. :|
  25. Proteus

I'm so tempted to go the forums and tell everybody to ignore those who haven't played the game... Would it be suck a bad idea to make that post and actually ignore those hating on the game? This Fireflow has been posting NON-STOP!
