Well, I thought I'd be safe catching up on this thread now that I've seen the latest episode, but as JonCole is now spoiling episodes that haven't even aired yet, I guess I'd better stay out of this thread until season 7 has finished.

Ha ha, whenever people are reminded in one of these threads that they can be rated, someone gives a low rating to drag it down from five stars.

Jake brought up the Incredibles back-throwing-out reference/idea just as I was thinking it, which was very pleasing.

I don't quite follow all the details there, Mangela, but surely temp agencies are used to their placements getting offered permanent roles. The only contractual quirk might be that they get a bonus from the company for supplying you in the first place if you go permanent, although that might run out after a certain amount of time, But the temp agency has been making money off your employment for the past 3 years, right? The only thing I'd say is make sure you're getting paid more once you're permanent, as obviously the company won't be having to pay the agency a percentage any more and so that savings should go at least partly to you.

It depends on genre, really. Generally, for example, 1st person for action and 3rd for platformers.

I always find temp agencies are the best bet for finding that kind of job. Apply to as many of them as you can; walk in dressed smartly, with a hard copy, electronic copy and prepared email with attachment of your CV and let them know what you're looking for. Then pop in once a week to ask if anything new has come up. They'll try to get you to do everything electronically, but if you do only that they forget about you, so you need to make sure they remember that relaxed, friendly, professional person who is so keen for a job he comes in once a week.

You mean overcranked, right? Overcranked = slow-motion, undercranked = sped-up/timelapse (which makes sense if you take it as literally referring to whether an olde time cameraman would be cranking the film through te camera over or under the usual speed).

I think another big point of the article, which I haven't seen anyone here summarise (correct me if I'm wrong on either point), is that if the industry standard is dressing like the average 20-40 yr old middle class white male, that probably reflects the fact that the industry is mostly made up of that demographic.

I got GoT, thanks SAM! Is there an easy way to play this (and other Android stuff) on my PC? A quick google turns up Andyroid and Bluestack, anyone used those? I'm wondering if they'll work for stuff from Amazon or if they only sync with apps from Google Play...

I'm going to link again to my rant about hint systems, because I disagree here - adventure games shouldn't rely on internal/external walkthroughs or hint systems, it's just lazy design.

Yeah, "bombshell" was Alan Partridge. Clarkson and the like started using it probably without considering that they are exactly the sort of awful presenter that Partridge was a mockery of. Re. pronunciation, I didn't know on Tegan and always get confused on Toblix as to whether he put up that little toe-blix text as a corrective or a fun-poke.
