  1. I enjoyed the idea and the presentation of this - the vaping and selfying mechanics and props are great. Unfortunately, I just could not control it very well. I had to keep staring down at the ground to figure out where I was going and it made it a little too tough for me to progress very far. I look forward to seeing it streamed though, and again it's very impressive what you can make in just a few hours!
  2. [released] Avocado Smash

Really sharp, both in its presentation and satire. I enjoyed the growing realisation of who you're playing and their outlook on the world. Would have been nice to have some kind of audio bed, but otherwise very slick.
  3. This is lovely, very atmospheric and relaxing. It's a great feeling when you change something and suddenly the entity spreads out around you. It sounds like you were thinking of all this stuff already, but I'd really like to see this get more organic controls for the adjustments, some different colours, and perhaps a more floaty and slow control system - like you're in a little pod controlling yourself with small jets and you've come into contact with something beautiful in space.
  4. Ooh, sneaky, I thought it was a hint This was very funny and well-observed!
  5. Good stuff! Packed full of interactables and little red herrings, plus some Dot Gobbler goodness, and I enjoyed the 'ending'.
  6. [RELEASE] Baboo!

Ah crap, I'll have to go fix that bug then update. Will be five minutes, thanks for pointing it out. [EDIT: done. Have also updated from last night with the correct Shared Universe assets] You should be able to run the Mac version straight, rather than the Windows version via bootcamp, if that helps? You can also use arrow keys and enter instead. The mechanism does take a little while to figure out, but I like that. Thanks for playing!
  7. [RELEASE] Baboo!

Released! https://timegentleman.itch.io/baboo Should work for Windows, Linux and Mac. Let me know if there are any issues, I'll speak to Cheeseness who is writing the engine. I'm waiting on some assets from one more jammer but I'm too ill and tired to stay up so I've gone with placeholders for the time being. I'll update with the proper assets as soon as I can, hopefully tomorrow. Hope people enjoy it!
  8. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

In case anyone isn't aware, you can change your [dev log] thread to a [release] thread by editing the first post and using Full Editor to edit the title.
  9. [RELEASE] MID JAM POWER MOVE

So impressed at how quickly you're able to create a sweet little game. Hopefully someone will share a new 3D model this jam so that next jam Dot Gobbler will have another kaiju to play/fight with.
  10. [RELEASE] Baboo!

Hoorah, all three jammers have now responded! To celebrate, here's some (misrepresentative) box art:
  11. [RELEASE] Baboo!

It will be a lot better if @BigJKO @atte and @Synnah check the Jam slack >:( EDIT: Jon checked his Twitter, hooray! EDIT: David checked Slack, hooray!
  12. Full Throttle Remastered

First look trailer: You can probably all guess what I think.
  13. [Participation Agreement] The Clone Progenitors

I can participate without doing anything? Sign me up!
  14. Other podcasts

Ah, Shock Video was great. "These pumpkins have been carved!"
  15. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

Not for this thread, no. Can't be bothered to re-watch any of those films if no one else is going to discuss/suffer with me!
  16. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

I may end up doing the same again this year, if my internet provider doesn't fuck me over even further!
  17. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

Ha ha, excellent! I got past the big chargey thing section and am now stuck on the 'moving home with very little warning and living out of boxes' section. (This is also probably going to scupper my chances of participating in WJ4.)
  18. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

Interesting, thanks! Incidentally, I didn't just guess at those definitions, they're ones I found previously.
  19. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

"Magic realism". What do you understand this term to mean? I've always understood it to mean a setting in which magic is treated as mundane and everyday. If a kitchen sink drama was set in the Weasley household, it would count. It seems another definition is a work which includes both the magical and the mundane/realistic, such as a novel which has magic in it but characters with realistic feelings and having realistic conversations. This seems far too broad to be useful, including all but the most operatic of magical works. I see it used seemingly at random quite often though. I haven't read the whole of this article but: Having birds in a game is magic realism?!
  20. Any IF/TA engine recommendations? I'm pretty sure someone happened to list 3 or 4 a while back but I can't find that post for the life of me. My intent to expand on the mini Choose Your Own Adventure I wrote for the 2nd (I think, the one that never happened) Thumbs Journal stumbled a bit when I started getting distracted by doing it as a website and getting collaborators in. So I'm hoping to pick the easiest way of writing it and just doing it for fun whether it works out or not. I haven't decided whether to go for a more IF feel or a proper text adventure yet. I'm leaning towards the former as all I really want to do is write silly bullshit. If I want to start mucking about with inventories and stuff I may as well make an AGS game... EDIT: another, Twine-specific, thread here
  21. Still newer forum!

THE BASIC SEARCH FUNCTION AUTOMATICALLY DISPLAYS RESULTS AS POSTS NOT JUST THREAD TITLES! YAAAAAAAY!
  22. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm playing the original version from a second-hand copy I got in CEX ages ago for 50p, so none of that HD rubbish. It initially didn't work, saying that the disc wasn't in the drive, but to my relief simply getting the v1.05 patch sorted it out. I'm currently stuck on a bit where loads of those big charging things spawn, so you have to strafe constantly otherwise they ram you from behind and it's pretty much instadeath. Going to give it another go now!
