Ahhh, I see. Well, all I know is that Dan has said on the zombie cow forums that it's up on a lot of naughty sites, and is getting "torrented to fuck" (although he may be using 'torrented' as a more general term than he should). I'm not sure I want to know how many people have nicked it compared to how many bought it/donated

Eh? And, yeah, but it's a generic enough phrase and a little-known enough show in a different medium that we didn't worry about it. Also, it was written by comedy legend Richard Herring, who is to thank for us writing skeleton as 'skellington', so I quite like the distant association.

Those are all really Dan-questions, and he's generally quite vague about that stuff! The sales are going pretty well, but let's just say that the 50 000 people who downloaded BTDT directly from our site didn't come back and buy TGP. Piracy is happening, probably at a 'typical' rate, but we're hoping it will lead to word of mouth, guilty donations and company awareness. Glad you enjoyed the games, tell your friends! As for Steam, three words for you: NDA.

Nachimir, I registered online for that event. I'm around all Friday evening from 1730, including Nachimir's thing, then Saturday daytime until about 4. (I'm also generally around in the evenings, if anyone is in London and fancies a pint at any point.) Nachimir, would the main pub you're using a room in also be a good place for the Thumbs meet? If so, may I suggest Thumbs start meeting there from 6pm Friday? If not, can anyone recommend a nice pub round there, or find one on beerintheevening.com? Is 6pm too early for everyone?

What?! NooooOOOOOOOO!

Do you know nothing about superhero comics, or comics in general? If the latter, my recommendation is the Sin City series by Frank Miller. There's also a good article here by AV Club about which comic to recommend as someone's first ever, with a lot of comments. There's a lot of overlap with the recommendations here already, though!

Yeah, I'm up for a London Thumbsarama. Someone suggest a date!

Idle Thumbs UK Episode 1: Fireside Chat

Any luck, Jake? I'm having the same issue... -
Don't watch it! Resist! You must henceforth imbibe zero Brutal Legend stimulae until you're playing the game.

Because Groucho mentioned it here recently, and you subconsciously absorbed it? (The most recent time it was previously noticed that I remember was by Dan in the 'Ben There Dan That!' thread...)

Day Of The Tentacle, if I can include the little playable section in the middle of it (where the three are Brundified) - seems Tim Schafer's doing well! Another World, although I'm sure some people found it annoying.

Could an American or British person do me a small favour?

Yaaaaay! Hope you enjoy it! -

Yeah, but why?

See! El Muerte doesn't know! Don't facepalm me, Jean-Luc!

Brillo! Sorry to be lame, but who's the guy at the end and why?

I think the G1's pretty good, but I don't have anything to compare it to. There are a few little oddities in the UI - stuff that you want to do but seemingly can't, and some unintuitive methods, but it's pretty good overall. The touchscreen's good, and the music works well. Shame you can't do much with video at the moment - it's Youtube only so far. The battery life hasn't caused me any problems yet, but I'm quite careful not to overuse it if I'm not going to get to a charger in a while!

Awesomes, thanks guys!

I'm going off the rails on a crazy (hype) train
Ben X replied to ethanThomas's topic in Video Gaming
That hapened to me with Shaun Of The Dead. Pegg and Wright described it as "Spaced with zombies", which it most definitely is not. But I went in there expecting that, and even though the film is better than that promised conceit, I still felt disappointed because it wasn't what I was expecting and geared up for. The trailer was also cut to make it seem a lot more flippant than it was. On second viewing, it was much much better. So, this preview problem feels very similar to the problem of film trailers making you think "yeah, that looks good but you just summarised all of acts 1 and 2, and showed me bits from act 3 so I can't be bothered to watch the thing now." Also: aren't gameplay videos getting too long? I swear we must have seen 50% of Unch2rted being played through by now... -
Adventureland: boring.

Yeah, I didn't really enjoy those Bizarro books (still on-topic because they had Batman in!) at all, even Dorkin's stuff. The only good one I remember is Kyle Baker's "Superman's babysitter" bit - very funny, and (perhaps unknowingly) ripped off by The Incredibles much later.
-
Really don't bother. The sequels are just average rehashings of the first film.
-
Really? Worse than his Predator run? Shame, I really liked it. I thought it was a funny concept, very well executed and with an obviously Eltingville-level knowledge of all the continuities. Batman-wise: I just got a load out of the library. Hush was pretty cool, but the ending was lacklustre. The Man Who Laughs was okay. It's interesting to see the first Tim Burton movie feeding back into the comics. I've got The Long Halloween to re-read, plus Gotham By Gaslight and Black & White 2. I haven't been bowled over as I was with Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Killing Joke, or DK2 yet...

Oh, nice! Thanks, Mr C, I'll take a look at that!

Okay! Just as soon as I've listened to the whole archive of thumbcasts...
