Oooh, someone (ie not me) should bring some sound recording equipment so we can record some European crowd soundbites for the podcasts!
-
Affirmative: 30/10/09 1900 EC3V 0DR.
-
Right, so are we saying 1900ish at The Crosse Keys, 9 Gracechurch St, EC3V 0DR? Nachimir, let us know if you want us to use a different pub nearby for any reason.

Yay, I'm just making my way through the archives and heard the Ben There Dan That namecheck in this ep! Aces, thanks! Hope whoever it was that's been meaning to talk about our games has done/will do it at some point... I'm really enjoying the casts, btw, I'm going to be very sad when I catch up and have to wait a week between each one.

Yayyyy, I just got a load of comics from the library: Red Son, Superman For All Seasons, LXG 1910 and Black Dossier (with special glasses!), Identity Crisis, Marvel Zombies, Daredevil: Man Without Fear and Batman: Strange Apparitions. I'll report back later! I also bought the first Scott Pilgrim - I want to read all the comics before the film comes out - and it was really good, I recommend it.

It's much better! Your current one reminds me of those self-replicating baddies from Rodland, you should change it to one of those...
-
Me too, please! Have PMed you!

Yeah, there's a couple of nice interviews with the both of us here as well: http://hardydev.com/2009/06/22/time-gentlemen-is-up-ben-ward-dan-marshall-interview/ http://www.tunasnax.com/blog/index.php?blog=3&title=interview_with_ben_and_dan_of_zombie_cow&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 (And if anyone really wants, there's a list of reviews and interviews and grumbling about metacritic here.) Dan also got a nice 4-page interview/article in games tm this month, it looked gorgeous. Quite why we're not millionaires yet is beyond me.

I don't want to go too far off-topic, but I'm not sure what you mean here. I don't think Zemeckis has seen any real failure or lost his integrity. Sure, his movies suck now, but he's still making the films he wants to make and he hasn't sold out; he hasn't started directing adverts or Twilight movies or anything.

I love RR and AGM super-hard, but they're hardly the biggest change you'd see in a non-Disney universe! (And sorry, but I really enjoyed New Groove, too.)
-
You know, I was joking when I named "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and "A Goofy Movie" as the pinnacle of Disney's contribution to and effect on the industry.

Yay, thanks! Tell your friends!

Thanks! The amazing dedication was mostly Dan's, though, slogging away with the code in between working a full-time job.

Oh Christ, can we not?
-
No "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and no "A Goofy Movie"? A nightmarish alternate reality. Brrr...

Heh heh, fell right into our trap!

Ben There, Dan That! took a solid 3 months full-time work, then we took a break for about a year, before spending three part-time months finishing it off. Time Gentlemen, Please! took 9 months of part-time work in evenings and weekends, and one month full-time slog.

Ahhh, I see. Well, all I know is that Dan has said on the zombie cow forums that it's up on a lot of naughty sites, and is getting "torrented to fuck" (although he may be using 'torrented' as a more general term than he should). I'm not sure I want to know how many people have nicked it compared to how many bought it/donated

Eh? And, yeah, but it's a generic enough phrase and a little-known enough show in a different medium that we didn't worry about it. Also, it was written by comedy legend Richard Herring, who is to thank for us writing skeleton as 'skellington', so I quite like the distant association.

Those are all really Dan-questions, and he's generally quite vague about that stuff! The sales are going pretty well, but let's just say that the 50 000 people who downloaded BTDT directly from our site didn't come back and buy TGP. Piracy is happening, probably at a 'typical' rate, but we're hoping it will lead to word of mouth, guilty donations and company awareness. Glad you enjoyed the games, tell your friends! As for Steam, three words for you: NDA.

Nachimir, I registered online for that event. I'm around all Friday evening from 1730, including Nachimir's thing, then Saturday daytime until about 4. (I'm also generally around in the evenings, if anyone is in London and fancies a pint at any point.) Nachimir, would the main pub you're using a room in also be a good place for the Thumbs meet? If so, may I suggest Thumbs start meeting there from 6pm Friday? If not, can anyone recommend a nice pub round there, or find one on beerintheevening.com? Is 6pm too early for everyone?

What?! NooooOOOOOOOO!

Do you know nothing about superhero comics, or comics in general? If the latter, my recommendation is the Sin City series by Frank Miller. There's also a good article here by AV Club about which comic to recommend as someone's first ever, with a lot of comments. There's a lot of overlap with the recommendations here already, though!

Yeah, I'm up for a London Thumbsarama. Someone suggest a date!
