Oh, man.. I hope people aren't actually expecting Double Fine to go make those games now.. like a full game? Surely it's clear that this is all just for these couple of weeks of prototyping, not any full product or anything..
-
Maybe the scale is restricted due to the simulation detail. And really, if I have to choose between having ALL THEM PEOPLES, cars and stuff like that simulated individually or a larger city, I'd pick the detailed simulation. But hey, maybe I'm talking crazy and it'd be just a tiniest bit of code to make it all possible.

Oh, yeah.. That was such a weird moment. I remember seeing a sort of funny YouTube video of Walter White calling Hal from Malcolm in the Middle.. Now I can't find it amidst all the awful mashups of Breaking Bad/Malcolm in the Middle.

Oh, sorry ThunderPeel. Didn't mean to spoil that bit about the buyout.. It's not a huge plot point or something.. I had no idea it was revealed in S5, actually. Gormongous:

I don't know.. I thought it was very much "shit happens" He let the big chance slip him by, because he accepted the buyout. It was a lot of money for him at that point (Life! He has a family to take care of, so any money seems like a lot more, compared to a risk-charged startup) then later on that company makes it big, and he feels cheated. He feels they wronged him, and to an extent it's true, but he wasn't forced to take the buyout as far as I remember. I haven't watched Season 2 for a long time, so maybe there's a story that explains this in another way where it feels like he was forced..

UK kickstarters use credit cards, because for some reason they can't use Amazon. All other kickstarters still use Amazon Payments.

I might be giving Vince Gilligan too much credit, but I always imagine that was intentional. The show is seen almost entirely from Walt's perspective and to him, at first, a Tuco guy might as well be the top drug man.. As Walt gains perspective, so the Tuco character reveals more of his rabid-ness and poor judgement. He's still basically a Looney Tunes character, though. I think they planned for Tuco to seem more powerful than he actually was, to illustrate Walt's perspective, especially considering that early Season 2 is probably something that was supposed to be part of Season 1 originally. Also, here's the show's science advisor explaining some of the real-life science of Season 1 & 2 SPOILERS FOR OTHER SEASONS TOO, DON'T GO THERE THUNDERPEEL! Great bit there about Breaking Bad's biggest "Chekov's Gun" (all seasons spoiler)

Oh, holy christ! Thank you for signing up and posting that! This is amazing. LOL'd at work. People looked at me funny.. -
It doesn't get much less cartoony throughout, but "The Drug People" do get considerably more competent as it progresses. Also, Season 1 is probably the weakest season, and I think I remember it ending early because of the writer's strike. All this is to say, you're in for a treat. It only gets better from now on.

Wow, this looks great! I'm so sad I didn't see this before the Kickstarter ended.. I love that you have the Minecraft gameplay but your own, unique aesthetic. And that concept art on the Kickstarter is really great. You guys are good. Let us all know when you have an alpha we can throw money at! -
ZombiU seems to have a novel way of representing single-player death. I like this sort of detail. Interested!

Idle Thumbs 83: Free Macintosh Warez

I mentioned it on the first page. Yep, it was great! -
I haven't noticed that. Maybe it depends on the website, but I don't recall an iPhone getting numbered reviews. Maybe I can see why you'd give graphics cards a review score, since there are tons of them and they all perform similarly. I think it's pretty weird to give consoles a review score.. They're not measured entirely by their power and it's hard to measure their value over a short period before launch where not every feature is even implemented. Also, now you have people going "6.5 out of 10, yikes! I'm not buying that, then.." instead of actually inquiring about the games, the service, whatever..

I think I speak for Planet Earth when I say no, so tell us the secret of the Prometheus hat. -
Oh, awesome, I had seen that one before, didn't know it was by you! It looks amazing! ThunderPeel2k1: Downloaded that to my iPad this morning, looking forward to reading it. Thanks for putting it up!

Jake mentioned Cliff Johnson's 3 in Three, it brought back so many memories of playing the shareware of it over and over and over again. I don't think I ever actually bought the game, just played the demo.. It sort of blew my mind back then. Here's his website, if you want to check it out. You need an emulator to play it on Mac, though.. EDIT: Actually, it looks like I played something very similar, about a number/letter growing up in a computer world in a VERY similar style.. WHAT GAME IS THIS?! EDIT2: It is called System's Twilight, and it is awesome. -

Did everyone besides me get a memo about there not being an Idle Thumbs podcast yesterday? -
I just realised that you can still use the letters that your opponent has locked, you just don't keep 'em. THAT'S why I kept losing to you, ThunderPeel! EDIT: I'm BigJKO on GameCenter

Fresh Kickstarter Compendium Extraordinaire

Yes, a very realistic goal for a kickstarter. Making an entire full-feature animated film would be an enormously expensive, unrealistic kickstarter.. -
I'm particularly happy with today's adventure game illustration of Police Quest's Sonny Bonds and his arch-nemesis Jessie Bains:
