Yeah.. I'm holding off on anything with a virtual control stick until they all inevitably support that MFi controller stuff.

Pick-em-ups.

Oh dear.. your avatar, shammack.

I'm not so pessimistic. I think J.J.'s storytelling abilities are much better suited to the Star Wars universe than it was to Star Trek. With a good script (and I have no reason to doubt Arndt) I have hopes for something.. at least competently entertaining.

I wonder what the input lag will be on those Made for Iphone controllers will be? Maybe that'll help establish a more viable market for twitch games on iOS.. -

Hmm.. in my memory Mario 3d Land threw different, weird mechanics at you almost all of the time.. Weren't some of the one-offs? -
I don't get why they bother including female characters in the first place, if they're going to pander exclusively to what the male demopgraphic wants? Do the guys who want scantily clad women actually want to play as a woman in a multiplayer game?
-
Sweet deal! I can't wait to see more, because I don't think I've ever seen a real-time 3D game from Cyan Worlds that I actually thought looked good..

A Wii U is inevitable in your future, Jake. It is your destiny. -
Here we are, a year later and I'm supposedly receiving my two lightbulbs at the end of this month. Now we'll see if I have been scammed. I'll say, Philips coming out with a similar product dimmed my excitement a bit.. Although from what I've seen of LIFX's app it's a lot better than Phillips'. I'm excited to see how well this actually works in practice. I'm curious, Nappi, if you've followed their blog at all? Maybe they've addressed some of your issues with it?

Yeah, wow.. Didn't know iPhone input lag was so huge! -
I'm happy your talking about actual stances on specific issues, rather than generalizing, stalkinghead. I disagree with all of what you said, but it did a much better job of explaining why you won't label yourself a feminist than the last 10 pages of this thread..
-
Instead of arguing about whether or not you can identify yourself as a feminist, maybe you should talk about what you believe, what exactly your issues are and what specifically you think are issues that aren't being fairly represented within feminism? What exactly is it that you feel, in the feminism umbrella, is unfairly biased against men, where more compromise on women's privilege would help the cause? What do you think are men's rights issues that feminism doesn't help with? I'm actually asking, not being snarky or childish or anything. If you don't want to label yourself as a feminist, that's fine, but after all these pages of discussion I don't remember once actually clearly reading about any specific issues you had or what your stance was on it.. You mentioned something about biology and you asked us what we thought about child custody cases and paternity leave. What do you think about those things, for example? Are they examples of what you talk about, where women should compromise on their privileges?

Huh.. reading up on LttP it seems you could complete all the dungeons out or order(like you both said), you just have to go into each dungeon and get the item that allows you access to some of the dungeons. It was obviously meant to be played in a certain order for some of the dungeons (which is why the items are locked up inside the dungeons), which makes it interesting this time around if they really designall dungeons to be played in any order. It'll still change a lot that you can get the items outside of dungeons this time around, as you can now complete any dungeon without ever having entered the other dungeons. Also, apparently it's not entirely clear that you'll even get the item you need to beat said dungeon inside the dungeon... Meaning you'll have to really explore a lot, before you figure out what you need to beat each dungeon. That would be pretty neat! This is just a long-winded way to say, OK TWIG YOU WERE RIGHT FINE WHATEVER!!
-
Well, no.. not until later on does it open up. All the items needed to beat the first half of the dungeons are locked up sequentially in each dungeon. The new game lets you rent or buy a lot of the same items meaning you're able to access and beat all the dungeons in any order. Or at least I'm pretty sure you couldn't complete all dungeons in any order.
-
Presumably the dungeons, and getting into them, will still have varying difficulty. The surrounding area of a dungeon being very hard might be a deterrent for inexperienced players, so they'll end up revisiting it later. But for someone up to the challenge, they can finish it whenever they want. (Apparently you can rent and buy certain items, like the boomerang, that normally kept you from advancing into later dungeons) It'll be interesting how this works, at least.
-
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds' dungeons can be completed in any order. That's a pretty big deal, right? Has that ever been possible in a Zelda game? You could mix it up a bit towards the end in A Link to the Past, but not do all of them in any order.

Proteus, an awesome game, was out on Steam yesterday. This is amazing. People are already complaining that it's pretentious, artsy, non-game, worthless. This makes me sad. Anyway, check it out if you haven't already.

That 3D World is exactly what finally flicked that "Wii U want" switch in my brain. I think 3D Land had a really strong art direction, and it seems to have mostly carried on over to this one only with more hints towards Super Mario World and in glorious HD with all that great shader stuff. Yep. Wii U. I want it.
-
With some good 3D artists it could still look close to that in 3D. Would be awesome if they did that.

The buttons reachable without lifting your thumbs are the triggers and the trackpads themselves, as far as I can see, which isn't any different from a DualShock controller..
